  • This documentary follows extreme athlete Harry Yuan’s quest to master the ‘Monkey King’ role in Beijing Opera in just 5 days. Trained in exercise physiology, Harry has to master the athletic physical movements of the popular character, as well as capturing the nuanced facial movements required to become a true ‘Monkey King’.
Kung Fu Motion- Beijing Opera was produced by Sitting In Pictures in association with China Intercontinental Communication Center and the Media Development Authority of Singapore.

Zhe ge shi tai hao le'!!! :) When I was learning Wang Hou in NYC Chinatown on the Bayard St. fire-escapes in the 1980's, our teacher Master Hoy Lo-Tin would yell at us in Cantonese to do ( in his words ) better 'High Opera' in Mandarin!! It was never good enough for him back then. lol Thanks for sharing this! duo xie Ni'

speaking as a chinese-american, i think this is so brave lol chinese american man with no opera experience puts himself through 5 days of judgemental and strict training just to entertain and educate us. when that teacher yells at him for not remembering, oof. this was eye-opening, thank you harry!
