- On February 15, 1113, the reigning Pope of the Catholic Church, Pope Paschal II, issued a Papal Bull titled “Pie Postulatio Voluntatis,” recognizing the Order of Hospitallers, a military order of Catholic knights that had existed in the Holy Land since about 1099.

Question for students (and subscribers): Have you heard of the Knights Hospitallers? Do you believe military orders of knights have a place within a church structure? Are you familiar with The Crusades?
I know about the crusades, and the knights templar, but this is the first time I've heard about the knights hospitable, sorry I couldn't remember how to spell the other name. I very much appreciate your videos, because I learn so much from them. Thank you for sharing this.
You're welcome! And thank you to you for commenting! :)

Thank you for your thoughtful comment! Reading what you and Eileen wrote in response to this video thus far has made my day! :)
@@HistoryandHeadlines you are extremely welcome
To be honest to learn one history is very important
For example it like a tree without roots it not a tree
That my philosophy
We without roots we are nothing
And historic content is important
For oneself
@@collettewhitney2141 That is very much appreciated! If you know anyone else who might be interested in these videos, please do feel welcome to share them on social media. My primary reason for starting the channel was to make videos for my students, which is still a main reason why I keep at it, but it takes a lot of time to put these together and I don't make much doing so. These are pretty much adapted from articles on my website, which actually costs hundreds of dollars a year just to exist (hosting fees, etc.). As such, if I could get this channel to 10,000 or more subscribers, I think it will make enough from ads to cover the hosting fees of my website, and could also allow me to afford better recording equipment and editing software. I love teaching, so that's my focus, but I do hope that the channel can do well enough for me to make better quality videos for my students and subscribers alike. Thus, I greatly, greatly appreciate whenever anyone shares these on social media (Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, etc.) to help get it to the point where it can at least cover the expenses of operating the website and the channel as doing so benefits my students. My impression is that UA-cam won't really recommend videos unless if subscribers engage with them by liking them, commenting, sharing, etc. I am reluctant to ask for help, but I do appreciate anyone who is willing and able to shares these videos with any interested friends and family. Sorry for the paragraph. Best, Dr. Zar
@@HistoryandHeadlines of course
I will be telling more like minded people about your channel history and Headlines

@@collettewhitney2141 Thanks! :)
Pre-Crusades period? Fascinating! While I cannot defend killing bc of the Crusades, I think the vast majority believe the Crusades were not a respond to Muslim advances. Fascinating subject! I love this one especially- thank you!
You're welcome! :)
I am curious, is there any connection between the "Knights Hospitallers" and modern "Hospitals"?
well, they did originate from a hospital, so, maybe?
Thank you for responding to the question, Jacqueline Morici!
I have not heard of the knights hospitallers. I would have to agree that the military order of knights does have a place within the church. I have heard of crusades but paid much attention to them in the past.

Is it possible to be married and still be a member of this Order
Are you asking about the Order during the time of the Crusades or the current successor versions of it? It seems to vary based on the time:
