The lyrics in the chorus seem so simple, but when you really look at them they have so much meaning. When you're young, you're sure and certain of the world around you. You travel (wander) the world and seek new things until you get too old for it. You think about (wonder) of all the opportunities in this life and where you can see yourself be until something or someone breaks you, forcing you to become cold and close minded. In a sense you find yourself in the beginning and then you lose yourself. It's up to you to find yourself again and that's why I think this song is bittersweet but brilliant because it's up to you to become something of yourself instead of letting life break you.
I love that analogy. If anything life taught me, it's that being broken is the path to growth. Gotta hit rock bottom to gauge where we are. Had some life events that broke me for 3 years and finally got out of it. Now that I'm out of it, if I went back to that place in life, I think I'd be better prepared for it, mentally. I don't think it'd be as big a shock.
Nice replication..... take your level of writing.... run a comparative analysis with a Pulitzer Prize winning author and do the same thing..... replicate!
I hear this song and I’m immediately transported back to when I was 19 or 20 and life was filled with wonder and possibilities. I’m turning 50 in a few weeks and I’ve lost that feeling. Thankfully there are songs that can put me in the headspace to feel free, even for a few minutes
***** I work at a music store and our manager only lets us listen to new releases. Either everyone sounds "late 90's/early 2000's" these days or this has a modern sound to it. Have you even heard 90's music?
Played with these guys at The Vault in Arizona in 1995 and they've been my favorite band since. Love the mellow progression of the sound here. Never disappoint.
+Brendan Ryan I kindly disagree. I am not saying it's not a good song. But that era of Jimmy Eat World was far more angular in the songs and raw. for me it's apples and oranges. it isn't even two different types of apples.
I don't understand why this song has so many dislikes. Not even the biggest fan of these guys but those song definitely hits it good. Has a very good vibe to it, sounds like a band who is making music the way they want to do it and not how other people would like them to
I think it has to do with the video, to be honest. Which sounds strange since we're here for the music. But in my opinion, the video does not do this song justice.
Jimmy Eat World have been one of my top ten bands since forever...and arguably the most consistent. Some bands I love I find myself thinking "I hope the next album isn't disappointing". With Jimmy, I just feel like "I hope they release their next masterpiece soon.". Anyone else feel this way? I remember really struggling with both Chase This Light and Damage. Over time they both became great to my ears. I just never find any lasting fault in their music. Easily impressed with the new record already!
Chase This Light I've always loved, because that was the most recent album when I got into Jimmy Eat World. I'm still not completely sold on Damage, there are some tracks I like but as a whole it's not what I want from them. This definitely sounds more like what I love about the band.
+misslolohannah I have to say I enjoy all of Damage now, but it's probably bottom three. But I am also a crazy person who doesn't have Bleed American in my top three! 1. Clarity 2. Futures 3. Invented 4. Static Prevails 5. Bleed American 6. Chase This Light 7. Damage 8. Jimmy Eat World (1994) I love every album though, and I am PUMPED FOR this new album! It sounds to my ears like Jimmy listened to some Texas Is The Reason, their early records and had a group hug before writing classic songs! I already think these two new songs are classic Jimmy! The most I have been enamoured with new Jimmy pre-album singles since Chase This Light (Big Casino was always my jam!)
Lmao he hasn't divorced his first and only wife and mother of his three kids. I think you misinterpreted all of the press they did for that album where he described it as "an adult break-up album". Most of his lyrics aren't autobiographical.
I heard this on the radio and immediately thought "hey this sounds like a 90s song I've never heard" then the singing started and I was like "Wtf is this Jimmy Eat World?" Then a glimmer of hope for music sparkled in my eye as I realized maybe.. just maybe.. that 90s/early 00s sound has a chance of coming back, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
That intro riff sounds like its straight off of clarity.. and the song as a whole sounds like its straight off of Chase this light.. After 'Get Right' and this track I have a feeling this new record will be brilliant.
TheMarkcu24 Not the vocals so much, the darkness of the music could be interpreted as "grungy" in all honesty.. "Get Right" is definitely more old school though. Each to their own though.
The sheer versatility of these guys amazes me, every single album is distinct from the others, yet still recognizably Jimmy Eat World somehow. Most other bands that have been around 20+ years end up backtracking at some point to an earlier sound, but they just keep progressing on to something a little different every time. Can't wait until October 21st
I'm so pleased with 2016. All the bad things that happened this year are balanced out by the music, even my old favorite band Acceptance (with the songs So Contagious and Permanent) announced their new album after disappearing for 11 years XD
Welcome back Jimmy Eat World!!!!!! I'm 37 now and this brings me back to Clarity and even a little Static Prevails and tad bit of Futures. This band has to be the most underrated band ever.
they nailed this album completely in my opinion. I just can't stop listening. Gotta give it time of course, but it may just become my 2nd favorite behind Clarity. Bravo, gents!!!
I remember back in the 1990s when I was a teenager Jimmy Eat World was first starting there music career this my favorite song they have done so far I have been listening to them for a long time now
I instantly flash onto "Last Place You Look" by The Get Up Kids when first hearing the first chord of this. The distortion and strumming pattern were a nostalgia flashback for me. it helps to cement a nostalgic feeling that this album collectively has. (There's one other part on the album, in another song, that also sounds like another well known song from the same decade, but that's for another thread...)
Davy Dixon Fair play, we do. The Manics often do a lot of personal low-key shows around Cardiff/Swansea areas, which is great. Just wish more international bands came to Wales. Apparently, the nature of buying tickets in Wales means that few Welsh people buy tickets until the last week before the show, therefore promoters can't bank in advance on a show being profitable. This supposedly contrasts with Ireland/N.Ireland/England and Scotland's ticket sales. Not sure how much truth there is in that though. It's kind of hearsay around these parts.
October 21st can't get here fast enough. I'm hoping for either something in the vein of Futures or Chase This Light (which I think is by far their most underrated album) but I know regardless of what they put out, It'll grow on me and find a place in my heart.
Dislikes are surprising.. can't see why a Jimmy Eat World fan wouldn't love this song, and can't see why non-Jimmy Eat World fans would be on this video..
Love nearly every song on "Integrity Blues" and thought I would find a video out. I guess more Lyric Videos are out due to costs, but hopefully with the right push this record might break through again to the masses.

Song has that late 90's/early 2000's feel. Love it.
I know right! A lost song from 2000
The best era of music! Hoping Integrity Blues continues to give the same vibes.
I agree. It's great because it's so reminiscent of a time of better music. I might have a new favorite Jimmy Eat World song.
Jason Van Stone sounds pretty modern to me
***** I work at a music store and our manager only lets us listen to new releases. Either everyone sounds "late 90's/early 2000's" these days or this has a modern sound to it. Have you even heard 90's music?

Sounds very 90s in its own right.. I like it.
the k nj zkxjx
+IMarkovic1995 it does.
this does NOT sound like 90's era Jimmy Eat World
+Thomas Rotter didn't clarity come out in 1998-1999? It has a lucky Denver mint/ clarity vibe
+Brendan Ryan I kindly disagree. I am not saying it's not a good song. But that era of Jimmy Eat World was far more angular in the songs and raw. for me it's apples and oranges. it isn't even two different types of apples.

Totally agree
I think it has to do with the video, to be honest. Which sounds strange since we're here for the music.
But in my opinion, the video does not do this song justice.
I mean..it's a lyric video, it serves its purpose just fine.
But I'm glad we all can agree that the song is great.
some ppl just want to watch the world burn...
This riff was stolen from a 90s song. still beautiful
Jimmy Eat World have been one of my top ten bands since forever...and arguably the most consistent. Some bands I love I find myself thinking "I hope the next album isn't disappointing". With Jimmy, I just feel like "I hope they release their next masterpiece soon.".

I feel the same way. This band does not make bad music. Simple as that.
+misslolohannah next time you listen to Damage take into account Jim was going through a divorce when writing it and it will change your view
+misslolohannah I have to say I enjoy all of Damage now, but it's probably bottom three.
But I am also a crazy person who doesn't have Bleed American in my top three!
1. Clarity
2. Futures
3. Invented
4. Static Prevails
5. Bleed American
6. Chase This Light
7. Damage
8. Jimmy Eat World (1994)
I love every album though, and I am PUMPED FOR this new album! i get chills down spine when I hear this song .
Coming back to this song again and I'll be damned if it isn't one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard
Definitely has a 90s vibe. I love it
I heard this song today on, Alt Nation and I thought the exact same thing certainly has a 90s sound to it and I love it.
Really? I’m quite stoked about it cos it DOESNT sound 90s. Early 2000s id say. I love it!
I heard this on the radio and immediately thought "hey this sounds like a 90s song I've never heard" then the singing started and I was like "Wtf is this Jimmy Eat World?" I hope so too. Fingers crossed!
MrGoat id be made up with life if late 90's early 00's music sound came back. Was so much better then ❤️
Jimmy Eat World can do no wrong, keep the singles coming these are amazing
We're in for their best album since Futures.
Am I the only one that liked Chase This Light more than Futures? Either way, this song is one of the best songs I've heard from them in a long time.
Brian Ruhmann chase this light is amazing. Futures is just subjectively my favourite.
1. Futures
2. Clarity
3. Static Prevails
+Adrian Garcia interesting. didn't realise so many folk like Static Prevails.
Bleed American :'(
That intro riff sounds like its straight off of clarity.. and the song as a whole sounds like its straight off of Chase this light.. After 'Get Right' and this track I have a feeling this new record will be brilliant.
Stfu
Steelsoup and.. whats your problem?
Grungy Jimmy...fuckkk yesss, album is going to be awesome!
This is NOT grungy at all.
TheMarkcu24 Not the vocals so much, the darkness of the music could be interpreted as "grungy" in all honesty.. "Get Right" is definitely more old school though. Each to their own though.
I know where you're coming from, the opening guitar is very '90's'.
True, but I think he is getting "grungy" confused with "old school" Jimmy Eat World.
Grungy??? Don't insult this song!
This sounds like REAL MUSIC OMG!!!
You ever get that special kind of tired were a good song can make you tear up for no reason?
Another great track, can't wait for this new album. Announce it already!
they did on instagram today!
Can't wait!!!!!!
I'm glad their back
OCTOBER!
+Juan Acosta *they're
This gives me goosebumps! It's coming into spring here in Australia, I can this album being on repeat all summer long!
The sheer versatility of these guys amazes me, every single album is distinct from the others, yet still recognizably Jimmy Eat World somehow. Most other bands that have been around 20+ years end up backtracking at some point to an earlier sound, but they just keep progressing on to something a little different every time. Right? My favorite thing about Jimmy Eat World is how all of their albums sound distinct from one another yet still feel like the same band.
Praise King Jesus. New Jimmy Eat World.
I love the art direction for these lyric videos and all the promo images. Old school shizz. Low res. Not fake old. Actual old stuff.
Things are sounding great for the new album.
2016 honestly is a good year for music
Green Day, Metallica, ADTR, JEW, Blink-182.....dreams come true.
+TheMusicfan189 yeah, don't forget Sum41 and Alter bridge too
I'm so pleased with 2016. All the bad things that happened this year are balanced out by the music, even my old favorite band Acceptance (with the songs So Contagious and Permanent) announced their new album after disappearing for 11 years XD
Anastasia Farrah Acceptance is coming out with a new album? Fuck yes. I'm so excited now. So glad I saw this comment.
THEY HAVE A NEW ALBUM COMING??? OH MY GOD I thought they were long gone.... this is SUCH good news!!
Why does this video have so many dislikes? Can't people accept that such amazing rock bands are making a comeback this year?
when this came out, it was melancholy, but things were supposed to be getting better. Fucks me up to hear it now. Sorry certainty wasn't enough
胸を締め付けるような音とメロディーは健在ですね。聴いていてグッときてしまう。10月リリースのアルバムに期待がふくらみます。ライブも観てみたいなぁ。
We all should be thankful that we live in a world where new Jimmy Eat World music is a possibility.
Haven’t listened to these guys in a few years and I guess I must’ve missed this release. This is seriously good!!
Subtle call and response at @3:00 "wonder till we're..." Damn I love those little hidden touches
thats the coolest song ive heard in a long long time
Welcome back Jimmy Eat World!!!!!! I'm 37 now and this brings me back to Clarity and even a little Static Prevails and tad bit of Futures. This band has to be the most underrated band ever.
goddamn that chorus just hits every kind of right way
Finally!!! Thankyou so much for this song. It does give the nostalgic feelings from previous decades.
No matter how many years that pass,Jimmy Eat World is that kinda band that will still produce great songs.
One of my favorite bands and they still have the same deep tone they did 10 years ago. Don't ever change
There's something about this sound which is different yet familiar and comforting. Great song!
Makes me happy that there is still good music today, and yet sad that these guys still aren't that well known.
Wow really enjoyed it! Stoked for the Album! Great job guys
This is wonderful! Loved Get Right but this is amazing.
This song deserves more views.
This new album is gonna be better than anything they've done since Futures. Hello 2004 JEW, we meet again.
does it drive anyone else nuts the way the lyrics switch back & forth between "wonder" & "wander"? anyway, glad to hear new jimmy eat world!
I love this.
Nice pics from the old times love this band one of my favorites
Jimmy eat world is the GOAT!
Loving the production on these tracks so far!
The best thing about it is that it sounds NEW. Fucking welcome back.
Well, these guys are certainly consistent. I heard this on the radio tonight and thought this was an old track I somehow never heard. Good on 'em.
Cracking track, and a long-awaited return to form.
Very nostalgic feel to this song. God I miss the 90s and being in high school
This song is fantastic - it really does have a Futures-album vibe about it.
Without a doubt a best band of our times. There music defines life and positiveness.
Incredibly underrated rock outfit. Seen them live- seamless. If they had on makeup, they'd be gothic icons.
Not been into to their stuff since Futures but maybe I should cop this one. Seems like they are back with their original sound. Love it.
So good. And the drumming....
This song puts a huge goffy smile on my face :)) good shit
they nailed this album completely in my opinion. I just can't stop listening. Gotta give it time of course, but it may just become my 2nd favorite behind Clarity. Bravo, gents!!!
Good tune. Haven't heard from these guys in awhile; need to start listening again.
jimmy eat world will heal my heart with this album
Ahh great! Glad to hear this band can still bring it!
I LOVE THAT ALL THE BANDS I LISTEN TO AND HAVE ALWAYS LISTENED TO GROWING UP ARE MAKING NEW SHIT FOR US!!!!!
Una delle pochissime canzoni veramente belle degli ultimi anni.
really loving this nostalgic early 2000s sound, it's great
You guys are AMAZING!!! So excited for a new album and upcoming tour!!! You are the best band ever!!!!
Absolutely awesome!
the best 2016 song ever 😍😍 cant get enough hearing it
This is a great song. Never would of guessed it was a band i already loved though.
Loving that bass line.
I remember back in the 1990s when I was a teenager Jimmy Eat World was first starting there music career this my favorite song they have done so far I have been listening to them for a long time now
Great song. Damn. Well done.
great to hear from Jimmy again!!

(There's one other part on the album, in another song, that also sounds like another well known song from the same decade, but that's for another thread...)
Gutted they arent touring in scotland. Only london dates so far. This song & get it right has me excited for the new album
At least bands GO to Scotland regularly.. Try living in Wales. Few bands ever bother going to Cardiff. :/ Sucks.
You guys got the Manics! They're awesome!
Davy Dixon Fair play, we do. The Manics often do a lot of personal low-key shows around Cardiff/Swansea areas, which is great. Just wish more international bands came to Wales.

I love the sound of this album!!!
OMG I'm so aboard the hype train for this album. Love this track!!
October 21st can't get here fast enough.
I'm hoping for either something in the vein of Futures or Chase This Light (which I think is by far their most underrated album) but I know regardless of what they put out, It'll grow on me and find a place in my heart.
They found that magic vibe once again!
This has a mid-80's/early 90's feel to it. Awesome! I can see a band like simple minds playing something like this
You guys have been a constant inspiration for us!
my mom was playing this song while cleaning, I had to check it out, and I'm glad I did
What a great surprise on a bleak September night.
Still feels like their older music, which is great!
Finally! Can't wait for some new stuff from Jimmy Eat World. Please come to Pensacola or Mobile soon!
Dislikes are surprising.. can't see why a Jimmy Eat World fan wouldn't love this song, and can't see why non-Jimmy Eat World fans would be on this video..
This is a really good track...omg obsessed.
Hell yasss this song is so dope and laid back! surely and certainly😜
Man, I'm so pumped for the new album.
Beautiful song.
That was pretty sweet! I'm glad I heard that today.
HELL YEAH! Can't wait for the October of album releases now...
I love this song so much . Jimmy can do no wrong
Love nearly every song on "Integrity Blues" and thought I would find a video out. I guess more Lyric Videos are out due to costs, but hopefully with the right push this record might break through again to the masses.
Absolutely love this track.. Got tickets to see them in Bristol in November, first time I'll ever see them live! =D
90's vibe all over again.
That middle interlude is so legit!! Such good vibes :):)
I can't help but love this sound. I miss this vibe from them.
stellar song, right in the sweetspot. I hope the rest have the same vibe, so much feel. CANTWAIT!
HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
Yeah I thought this was shit too
Steelsoup I wish I was that edgy
it's shit though.
Amazing lyrics - great song!
