  • A bunch of people have been talking about this move in the StudioVeena forum and trying to figure it out. I finally had time to work on this trick and thought I'd show you the bloopers that led to success! This is my learning process, from beginning to end ;) It's not always easy the first time around :) Enjoy! xoxo For more info on what I did to eventually get the move-- check out the blog: aerialamy.com/b...
(I'm doing the split grip in it because the twisted grip kills my wrists)

So right after I sent my question I see you have a blog and I find the pole buying post, lol. You were so thorough in that post, I've made up my mind to buy the 45mm. Thank you, you're awesome!!!

So, after watching you do this, I know that I am doing it correctly! :-) I tried all the different grips also, and have found that the true grip feels most stable for me, with split grip being next and twisted right at the bottom. I love your learning curve because mine looked the same when I was trying to learn this from the floor. I still can not do this from the floor, but I can manage on all 3 pole sizes aerially! Thanks for posting this, I love it! xox

I enjoyed watching the process of figuring out the move. I'm not sure that "heavy" is the word I would use to describe that perfectly fit anatomy of yours...more like "lean, lovely, and shapely"!! I'm so distant from the mechanics of pole now I hesitate to comment on the technical details...but I will say that I observed that success seemed to come when the bottom arm conveyed force back to the pole in the straight line diagonal from the back and shoulders--much like the conventional Aysha.

This video was great! Informative and funny. It really helps to see your progression like that in fast forward uncut. So much more helpful that way to see how you got through your mistakes to get the move right. Thank You :D
P.S. Loved the chipmunk music lol It made it really fun to watch!!

Marion taught this move at a workshop I attended, she uses twisted grip and says it's more stable and easier. But if you can also do it this way, great!

Hi Amy!!! Thank you so much for the words of encouragement :) I am just about ready to buy my pole and am so excited! I wanted to ask your opinion on the 45mm. I think I really want to get that instead of the 50mm. I have pretty strong legs from being athletic my whole life. I hear 50 is easier to do grips, but the slight difference with 45mm I think i can handle. What do ya think?

So helpful! I tried this about 10 times today! I am going to try your way by squeezing the knees then lowering the hand more. Hopefully I can get it. Thanks :)

Olina, that WOULD be much more stable to find balance-- that's the butterfly. this trick is slightly different and is a bit more advanced.

@PoleDanceITA It's not that much of a strength move when you do it the way I showed-- squeeze with your legs until you're inverted! Holding it is obliques and top arm.
