- A bunch of people have been talking about this move in the StudioVeena forum and trying to figure it out. I finally had time to work on this trick and thought I'd show you the bloopers that led to success! This is my learning process, from beginning to end ;) It's not always easy the first time around :) Enjoy! xoxo For more info on what I did to eventually get the move-- check out the blog: aerialamy.com/b...
(I'm doing the split grip in it because the twisted grip kills my wrists)
So right after I sent my question I see you have a blog and I find the pole buying post, lol. You were so thorough in that post, I've made up my mind to buy the 45mm. Thank you, you're awesome!!!
So, after watching you do this, I know that I am doing it correctly! :-) I tried all the different grips also, and have found that the true grip feels most stable for me, with split grip being next and twisted right at the bottom. I love your learning curve because mine looked the same when I was trying to learn this from the floor. I still can not do this from the floor, but I can manage on all 3 pole sizes aerially! Thanks for posting this, I love it! xox
youre the best!!! thanks for posting your attemps, its nice to see it takes a lot of hard work
I enjoyed watching the process of figuring out the move. I'm not sure that "heavy" is the word I would use to describe that perfectly fit anatomy of yours...more like "lean,lovely, and shapely"!! I'm so distant from the mechanics of pole now I hesitate to comment on the technical details...but I will say that I observed that success seemed to come when the bottom arm conveyed force back to the pole in the straight line diagonal from the back and shoulders--much like the conventional Aysha.
This video was great! Informative and funny. It really helps to see your progression like that in fast forward uncut. So much more helpful that way to see how you got through your mistakes to get the move right. Thank You :D
P.S. Loved the chipmunk music lol It made it really fun to watch!!
Marion taught this move at a workshop I attended, she uses twisted grip and says it's more stable and easier. But if you can also do it this way, great!
Hi Amy!!! Thank you so much for the words of encouragement :) I am just about ready to buy my pole and am so excited! I wanted to ask your opinion on the 45mm. I think I really want to get that instead of the 50mm. I have pretty strong legs from being athletic my whole life. I hear 50 is easier to do grips, but the slight difference with 45mm I think i can handle. What do ya think?
the caption "more grip. that'll help" describes my thinking perfectly.
hahahah thanks wickidgrrl. :) START! it's literally the single best thing i've ever done for my mental and physical well being. I HOPE YOU DO!!!
I enjoy your posts so much! Thanks!!!
So helpful! I tried this about 10 times today! I am going to try your way by squeezing the knees then lowering the hand more. Hopefully I can get it. Thanks :)
great job!!!!!! I've been struggling with this one as well! I finally got my appretice to butterfly (50/50 on extended). . . I wonder if that is kind of the same movement? I will find out tomorrow night I guess :-p
This was so incredibly helpful! Thank you!!
This video was inspiring in that you just keep trying something until you get it.
hahaha! glad to know I'm not the only one with hours of video of myself staring at the pole *think think think, courage, courage, think think...* ;)
Beautiful! Thanks for posting this! :)
Thanks, you're very welcome! xoxo
Thanks, but I can't do it in twisted grip because it puts too much strain on my wrist and shoulder :)
@staffordlvr good job! It's a toughie but once you figure out the tricks to it, way easier than it seemed!
@pornyppg You're very welcome, thanks for the comment!
Hahaha you're awesome. Thank you! This move will be mine ^_^
@StormyOne80 You're welcome! thanks for watching :)
Best 3:30 minutes ever.
Nice! I am struggling with it right now as well...
@TheGumbySide What kind of problems are you having with it? My issues may not have been your issues!
Keep at it vickie!! if you post video i'm sure people will try to help, including me :)
i'll try that and if i feel brave i'll upload it :D, also a group of us (we're in melbourne, aus) are thinking of forming our own flight club. is it ok to use the name? its such a great idea and a really cute name!
nice...trying this today as soon as i get home
@TheYvetteMartini Thanks Yvette, how'd it go?
This is crazily strong, but amazing
Oh that's ok, just wasn't prepared to, uh-um, hear that. Any chance of getting pole dancing in the Olympics? ;-) Keep up your good work and stay active.
BTW, hon -- where did you get those cute bottoms?
Olina, that WOULD be much more stable to find balance-- that's the butterfly. this trick is slightly different and is a bit more advanced.
I too am battling with this move, can't seem to straighten legs and push out grrr, love your videos and blog.. they are soo helpful thankyou xx
Boom indeed!
@Poledancefan Haha, thanks Joel :)
i'm not even sure what i'm doing wrong, all i know is everytime i try and tip upside down it all goes to poop. i tried squeezing my knees together which made a BIG difference but i'm still not sure what to do with the arms
Your awesome. Love your vids :D
@LolaOceanessGrace Hahah thank you!
@plummerchick Good luck! let me know how it worked out...
@PoleDanceITA It's not that much of a strength move when you do it the way I showed-- squeeze with your legs until you're inverted! Holding it is obliques and top arm.
@Sassafrassle It deserved a special caption :)
@pilatespolekat HAHAHA that's EXACTLY what it is :)
Don't ever say that about your butt, ever again...it's perfectly gorgeous! I'm enjoying your vids and they are giving me encouragement to go ahead and start pole. Thanks for sharing! :)
haha it was a cover by james vincent mc morrow. acknowledged, it is pretty pale in comparison to the original. my bad.
@TinyDancer0434 Thanks :)
@lenity They're bad kitty pole fit brazils :)
Try taping your attempts and maybe people will have feedback for you :)
Way cool... it's nice 2 c that I'm not the only 1 that goes through this lol
I would absolutely ADORE that. Please keep me posted on it-- add me on facebook, my name there is aerial amy :) I would love to hear updates! use the name, just make sure you remember the idea is to include EVERYONE and foster community and pole love! xoxo
Higher Love-Steve Winwood. But that had to be the most painful version of that song ;-p
please please please do a tuesday tips on this! spanx!
@misshoneyrider1 xoxo
i think your body is ideal, muscular and toned
