When bandleader Dixie played by Phil Harris takes his band to a small town he meets his old love Julia played by Alice Faye. Later in the changing room a young girl named Emily asks for his autograph. He tells her he will send her an up-to-date photograph but she wants to show her friends that she got his autograph and she snatches for his suitcase where she sees a photo. In his case he has a gun, which he carries for protection and it accidentally goes off killing the girl.
