@@dannydiaz5842 yes i had to piece it all together and make a turbo manifold for it. most important part was swapping to the 06+ pcm/engine bay harness so it could calculate boost using a maf sensor and proper tuning. a lot of other critical parts like proper piping size for up pipe to feed turbo, upgraded injectors, proper wastegate/bov vacuum lines, egr delete 😂

I love the 5.3 LS V8 in these, I'd turbo mine, but the poor 4l60e transmission! A twin-turbo 5.3 with 6spd manual would be nice, but the chassis isn't worth it. My basically-modded 350hp/375tq is more than adequate for the marshmallow suspension Envoy XL. Not a sports car but it's quick in a straight line, tows like a beast, and gets decent mpg for a 4.10 geared 5.3 V8 granny-barge. Your 4.2 is a great and very durable engine, but the UA-cam video makes it appear much slower than it likely is. Still have it, how did the transmission hold up!?

Hi, actually I bought pretty much every piece separately to make my own kit. I wanted better parts for a few things that a kit couldnt provide like bov / wg / and maf sensor specific to ls and most other parts were gm specific not found in any kits

Ohh Dxmn- nice eirher choice will not be bad. Both a great platforms! I might be going rb25 / rb26 on my next build (datsun 240/260 z). Have some thinfs I need to do to the v12 this year. What car will you want to have the 2j in it if you go that route?
I did that to my 5.3 V8 Envoy XL, removed some weight, and improved aerodynamics a bit. It's more engine than the cream-puff chassis can use. And that's just perfect. But wait, it's an LS V8, just a couple more mods... 😁

sadly i dont have the suv any more BUT with nearly any turbo setup on any car nothing is healthier for it than a straight pipe post turbo. the i6 is tough to sound throaty and not higher pitch from its natural sound qualities... ie rb series, l28, multiple bmw i6s. if it were you what exhaust would you run on the i6 4.2 to make it sound better?
Which exhaust do I recommend for the inline 6? Definitely magnaflow (and catless), if you want a deeper and smooth tone. Bigger magnaflow=quieter, and vice-versa. Totally preference, but I don't like loud higher-frequency noises like 4/6 cylinders (except for sportbikes, sexy turbo whistle, supercharger whine, and some exotic high-winding V8s). I really don't mind slightly more aggressive V8 thunder! My 'voy XL with 5.3 catless magnaflow makes me grin everytime I drive it. Magnaflow also has no power-robbing restriction, so it's what you want especially on a forced induction engine! If I'm correct, they put big resonators after the mufflers on all these 4200s. Resonators actually improve sound quality (less tinnyness and raspiness, deeper tone), without adding any airflow restriction. Mufflers quiet it down but add a lot of restriction. Many cars (likely the 4200 Envoy) sound very good by deleting the muffler and cats, but keeping the resonator. There will be improvement in power, and the resonator and turbo will cancel out ugly frequencies like a good muffler. Definitely will be a deeper tone, but there's only so much you can do with a 6cyl!
Derrick Tanner hahaha no kidding lol it was 8psi on a weird platform still testing. Was never fast or even quick lol but beat a stock trailblazer SS and thats all the goal for the build was.
