📌 Be sure to subscribe for more great ChemEng content! And thanks to those involved (Callum, Rahul and XH!) couldn’t have done it without your support!

Hey there! Not a big disadvantage at all- most unis only require maths and chemistry at A level for a reason, and most students don’t study A level physics and hold up better than fine during the course! Hope this helps 👍

Literally the exact video I wanted!😂
Considering doing my Bachelors of Applied Science in Process Engineering
Think I even commented and asked about it on a recent short or vid of yours

What's the first topic you usually study in Imperial, when you start the course?

It’s a course called process analysis, where you formulate basic mass (and later energy) balances on a flow sheet. I’m planning to do a full degree course review video soon!

Okayy guys I'm actually stressed on whether i should take ChemR or Pharmacy but tbh I'm leaning more towards ChemE I'm just worried about the job security cause i can't afford to study something where it will be hard to get a job after☹️

      Hey there!
Very reasonable worry indeed. True, whilst there is more job security in pharmacy, the nature of the role becomes far more detached from science in the community setting as you often deal with customers and more administration type problems, whilst in chemeng there is scope for pure engineering that isn’t in a customer facing role. Where are you based? The country does have a bearing on the decision you should make in this instance, since you can get a good job after chemeng but demand and pay scope varies location wise.

@@ChemEngWeekly Hii thank you so much for replying I'm from Uganda and as we speak there's only one uni that offers ChemE I'm thinking of applying to unis in the Turkey sonce there's a wider scope in terms of academia. I'm quite hesitant about Pharmacy cause like you said you tend to let go of the science which i don't want at all...To be honest I have so many queries and a little guidance and advice would mean alot to me.Thank you

@@tpwk9 I see! One advice point I always give I’d follow your gut- if your gut is saying Pharmacy is not good for your to pursue, then maybe it would be better to not follow that through. I’m not too aware of Uganda itself but ChemEng is very demanded in Europe and in Turkey too. Doing ChemEng in turkey would be a very good option, although you would have to look into chances of foreign visa sponsorships for jobs in turkey. Hope this helps!

@@ChemEngWeekly Thank you so much for your advice. One last question..I didn't do Physics at ALevel and wouldn't say Math is my strongest suite so I'm just worried that it would be hard for me to cope but i have been told with consistency and hardwork i can be able to handle the workload.

@@tpwk9 no worries at all! And I’d say don’t worry about not doing physics a level- it’s not a requirement for a reason. If maths isn’t your strong suit but you are willing to work hard, you will find ChemEng becomes easier with time for sure, and I know of many students who have managed to do well with ChemEng despite not being really good at maths. Keep working hard and you can definitely do it, the rest is up to you!
