How Germans Turned Trains Into Massive Artillery in WWII

- Railway guns like the German WWII K5 gun had a very narrow aim. To get around that problem, Germans developed a circular track, allowing the gun to rotate and fire in 360 degrees.
From the Series: Combat Trains : Nazi Railway
It takes the Nazis 3 days to build a super gun but my city 8 months to “fix” the road
men were men back then
🤣🤣👍👍👍
where are you from
Germans used railway artillery creatively. In the one of the battles for Rzhev salient, a Soviet calvary attempted to cut the Vyazma rzhev railway but was beaten back by a railway artillery.
nazy's technology, a state of the art
It’s literally a gigantic artillery piece. How is this state of the art? I’d rather have a regular artillery regiment over a single large rail cannon any day.
yes. that massive artillery was a real nightmare.
@@TheWelshBrothers The Allies also wish they had the K5.
You do know they lost, right? In fact Germany hasn't won a war since 1871.
@@squirehaggard4749 are u french or english?
Thomas The Tank Engine just got bad ass.
Perfectly legal to buy in the uk
nice
Lol😂
We had one of those standing in our village in the black forest and the city near us was bombed because the allies thought it would be there.
LoeZung
village was too small to notice or that would have been bombed too
What is that thing doing in the US and A? Its part of European history, give it back!
I'm not sure the EU wants that in their lands for historic reasons
@@ket451 if you forget your history or are blind to that of others you risk repeating it!
no better way to show the foolishness of somethings then to take the remaining symbols it made in the image of its arrogance presserve them bot has historic examples of how tech developed and with the historic chapter about it in nice big letters carved in stone! infront of it! about what it played part of ..in the facists case often a 'divine purpuse & might makes right' stupidity excuse as this gun is a good embodyment of it and a good warning that even if being the top dog of your time dont shield you from karma if you turn despotic.
Can you europeans give back everything you stole from mesoamerica ?
@@qaqitae For Example?

I wish these videos where longer
That explains why German Empire built high infrastructure back in 1905-1916 :D:D

I would like the Schwerer Gustav as a present...
Take it. If you get pulled over and questioned by The Man, just tell him you "took it by right of conquest."
@@daveybernard1056 thanks for the info
Its downfall was there was only 6 of these mega guns and it took over 50 soldgers to man it. Its was used in the did he of svasterpol. That's about the only use it was ever effective.
You are wrong. There were many artillery guns on rails, but the one you're referring to is the Gustav/Dora gun. That one was just too big for its own good but this type of gun in the video wasn't so rare.
2:23-2:27 TOO BLOODY RIGHT MATE! :D
We needed 50 of these in 1941 in the Battle of Moscow
And after one shot everyone was permanently deaf lol
This video proves once again that 70 years of allied hass propaganda against Germany did not help, Germany clearly had the 'best' glorious weapons.
Damn good gun when compared to gustav
The Larger Rail Guns NEVER fired on the UK!!
hmmm we should build bigger guns, how big? let's make the biggest
I wonder how they brought it to usa
jklahsd32 laksd13 Disassembled then shipped.
sangko chan yup that is the only way to move something that size

Cool video. Voted
Still tiny compared to the 800mm Gustav
gabriel bielawski except this is 900mm? Lol ur logic
gabriel bielawski did you even watch the video? The K5 is 900 mm the Gustav is 800mm
Lol 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ig u missed the part where it says 900mm huh?
They don't. Even if, the K5 only was a 283 mm gun whatever the narrator says.
the 900mm describes the train wheels diameter
Germany made nuke secrets
Germany made rockets
Most advance technology with germany
BOOM BABY!
Everyone in ww1 and 2 used railway artillery in some form. Because this is Smithsonian they won't tell you how much more the Red Army used them.
They should have put it on France coast
its on railway trocks
*Now Mount it at ur car*
