I was focused and taking notes until you said you’re 56! you are absolutely radiant, maybe it’s your positive disposition, whatever you’re doing/everything you’re doing shows up as youthful and pleasant.
As someone who loves damask fabrics. I think glycerine rivers give that effect to soap designs. I love that it gives the soap texture. Your soaps are beautiful 😍
56 year olds and gellers unite! I use the CPOP method and have produced alien brains once, but the end result was mild enough to cut off with my wavy hand held cutter and got a really cool effect. And wow! You’ve figured out a great workaround for the caffeine powder. I looked into purchasing it straight from the supplier but was not allowed because it’s a controlled substance for non-commercial purchasers (in Canada, at least). I may have to pull a copycat, Ellen 😅 I’m an EO kind of girl but swear by Mahogany and Teakwood FO for my masculine go-to. Nothing (imo) beats it. What a gorgeous wake you up bar. Citrus is my favourite scent. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend, Ellen. (p.s. I LOVE the look of glycerine rivers!)
My dad and I were early risers. We traveled a lot. So we tried to have our coffee in the morning together, every day! When lived in separate states, we would try to call each other on the phone once a week at coffee time!
I use the corn silk in the summertime. I live in New York Long Island, and it came out absolutely beautiful and I used it with Japanese not weed buds that I pulled fresh and it is my favorite bar of soap. Thank you for teaching me and guiding us your beautiful.👍🏻
Caffeine lover over here, coffee, tea, extra dark chocolate, all of them. Stopped many years ago and back to it. Tip for you- add the Eo’s after emulsion. Love corn silk, no difference if compared to tussah silk and is almost free since I get it from the corn. It’s amazingly good. LOVE your soap and I am a citrus and mint lover so right on my alley
Oh, those pastel colors are lovely - how perfect for a "waking up to springtime" bar! And I love the way the top came out. I'd be interested to hear how the EO blend holds up. I make soap on a very small scale, not for a business, but have tried the anchoring in clay thing a few times and it hasn't seemed to make much of a difference for me. Hope it works better for you!
Ellen I just starting watching your soap videos all I can say is that you are so great I love love ❤️ watching you doing wonderful videos I was going to try starting to make soap just to get my feet wet but I looks very hard and time consuming to make😔. I just going to start with something easy recipe
The soap colors remind me of my Mom and Dad’s wedding colors all you need is to add yellow. I made a soap using there wedding a few years ago for them to celebrate there 50th wedding anniversary. I am not a big caffeine fan, but you might see me at Starbucks a few time at Christmas time when all the Christmas flavors come out. Beautiful soap.
oh oh ! today I made your coconut oil soap and I used 100% aloe vera juice - whoops - well its on the counter now so we will see what happens hahaaha ! Love all your soap ideas !!! Keep up the great videos
I appreciate you sharing how you add aloe vera gel to your batch. I've used the gel as a water replacement to make soap already. I've considered doing it 50:50 also but I'll get more for my buck using it as an additive. Soaps look lovely. 😊
What an interesting additive caffeine and such a CV pretty soap - I’m not a coffee drinker love the smell not the taste but love my tea so I probably get as much as you a day without thinking about it. “Put the kettle on” a commonly heard sentence in our home. Now you have me thinking I should see how much I take in. I mainly use EO and although add Kaolin Clay I wasn’t directly with the EO I will in future as find the scent does not last. As always thank you for such a lovely happy video. Wait till your 79 Ellen your still a young chick yet.
What a great tip with the caffeine tablets bc I live in Canada and I priced 1000mg of caffeine at a soap supply company and it was $150 (things are ridiculously expensive in Canada) and the same amount in tablets at our local pharmacy are on sale for $8.92 so thanks so much for that tip! Beautiful soap! I haven’t soaped since November bc I became very I’ll from January until 2 weeks ago bc I had surgery so I’m on the mend but I can’t wait to get back at it!
Beautiful bar! Lime is one of my favorites. N u look great for ur age. I thought u were around my age. Im 46 but ppl think I’m in my late 20’s. U look amazing. U go girl!
You can take the fresh aloe gel, blend it with distilled water and use this for the lye solution. I have a huge aloe plant and every now and then i take a leaf and use it as lyewater
Beautiful soap! It turned out great! My body doesn't handle coffee caffeine well, so I'm big tea drinker. I'm pretty sure if I used this soap on my skin, it would be great.
Beautiful soaps Ellen ❤ . I love how patiently and clearly you explain things. There's also banana silk obtained from the stem and stalks of the plant. In India, where I'm from, it's used as a fabric and it is quite sturdy and of course silky & glossy. 😊
Have you ever tried the heat transfer method when making soap? Like when you pour the fresh hot lye water solution into the room temperature hard oils and butters then add the rest of the liquid oils. I saw a soaper do that and I thought it was interesting. Btw my favorite essential oil is sweet orange essential oil! It smells like candy to me :)
I love they way you explain how to do everything. You're a great teacher. Thank you so much😊. I love watching your channel. I learn so much. What is the white powder on your mold, is it just cornstarch to help get release for the wood?
I love your work and thank you for sharing! I have a question can I use the Aloe Vera gel from the plant? If so would I add it to the water solution before adding lye like you did with the Aloe Vera Juice?
I haven't used EOs or FOs yet, but for citrus oils to stick in soap, people say you have to use 'folded' oils; i.e., orange 10x, lime 5x. Also, another way to anchor them is to use 1% cedarwood atlas - learned that from George of Dawn Organics. I think he interviewed you for his Soapmakers Lounge a while ago, right?
A little off topic, but does anyone know whether or not you can use grocery store lard in soap making, since it has additives? I’ve been trying to find the answer and recipes just say “lard”. I’m a beginner. I appreciated the lye additive info. Your soap was so pretty and Spring-looking. Thank you.
I recently started adding lard to my soap and have been using Morrell Snow Cap lard from the store. Works fine but I found that if I don't heat the lard very well I get stearic granules (at least that's what I think they are) that make the soap exfoliating.
I need this soap lol I have a 15 month old I'm always tired 😅 but have you heard about banana peels in the lye? Suppose to be like Tussah. Soap & Clay just did a video on it
@@EllenRuthSoap it does! The loaf came out really shiny and looked great. I'm looking forward to her lather test, we eat a lot of bananas in this house! 😆

No way your 56, I love essential oils and made a citrus soap and used kaolin clay and the fragrance stuck I got a little concerned as it went through gell phase and got warm but it's a great bar of soap, good enough to sell but I don't as I'm not certified to.

She's a beautiful woman and is accentuating her beauty but if I'm wrong call me out, I mean no offense but you asked for the "secret" and that's what it typically is for 40+ who have zero forehead lines & brow lines. But if you're young take it easy with the sun exposure, that's being proactive
I had to watch over this video as I imported some caffeine powder from an online vendor and couldn't remember how you added it to the soap lol. Think I'll use 1% as my additive. ❤🤍🖤🇹🇹
I was focused and taking notes until you said you’re 56! you are absolutely radiant, maybe it’s your positive disposition, whatever you’re doing/everything you’re doing shows up as youthful and pleasant.
Oh, thank you sweetie🥰
Love the smell of anything citrus, just devine and refreshing. I think the last bar you started cutting looked like a beautiful sunset.
As someone who loves damask fabrics. I think glycerine rivers give that effect to soap designs. I love that it gives the soap texture. Your soaps are beautiful 😍
I am a caffeine coffee lover. I will also drink tea. Some can't handle caffeine. Doesn't bother me. Pretty soap by the way.
Thanks🧡💚

My dad and I were early risers. We traveled a lot. So we tried to have our coffee in the morning together, every day! When lived in separate states, we would try to call each other on the phone once a week at coffee time!
Love that!❣️
I am using the triple butter with mango butter. My skin isn’t as dried out after my shower and I love the smell. It is divine!
I love all Ellen’s soaps, but the Triple Butter bars are my favorite.❤
Thanks for sharing!!💕
This should be the perfect summer soap.

Try using metal hair pick. It's thinner, and stronger! I love this soap!
I like the top. 💕
I love that top!!!! Actually like the pastel or muted colors. I like to anchor EO's with kaolin clay, too. Beautiful bars.
Cheers 👍💕
I need some body jumper cables at times...maybe this is the solution. Lol God bless Ellen
This would help😉🧡
great as always,Dear Ellen you have positive energy 🌹

I love all the tricks and tips you give! Your soap came out beautifully as usual.❤ Thank you for the video.
I really love your videos. Thank you for making them.

The pastel colours are gorgeous love the swirls so beautiful .I am a coffee drinker and love all different types of coffee xx

Yes, I've done the heat transfer method a few times. It works great, but can speed things along sometimes..
I love they way you explain how to do everything. You're a great teacher. Thank you so much😊. I love watching your channel. I learn so much. What is the white powder on your mold, is it just cornstarch to help get release for the wood?
Thanks! It's baby powder to help unmold without sticking😉
I also use 50 50 juice and distilled. My distilled is 50 percent water and distilled ice.
I love your soap stamp. Where did you get it from
Digital2cr8 there's a link in the description box.
I have the double tall skinny mold. How much clay and sugar additives would you recommend with this size batch of soap? Thanks.
I suggest about 1-3 tsp per lb of oils
❤❤❤
You should totally make a Branble Berry soap scented with their fragrance called Energy and make it with Caffeine. Also, you don't look 57 at all.
I love the Energy fragrance💛💚
I love how these turned. For some reason Miami Vice Crockett and Tubbs come to mind. 😂
First no way you are 56! If that’s true I want your skin care routine lol also I love coffee and interested in caffeine in soap now.
Oh, thank you🥰
I love your work and thank you for sharing! I have a question can I use the Aloe Vera gel from the plant? If so would I add it to the water solution before adding lye like you did with the Aloe Vera Juice?
I talk about that very thing in the video😉 the aloe gel would be an additive.
Hello from Brazil, Ellen!!!

@@EllenRuthSoap You're welcome.
Beautiful bars!! What is the total oz of oil you use for this mold? I find im using either too much or too little.
The Workshop Heritage site says 175 oz or 11 lb. I typically use 100 oz or so of oils..
Hi Ellen what did u add to the essential oil of u don't mind??
I added kaolin clay

Yes👍 #2 & #5 are good for lye mixing❣️
@@EllenRuthSoap Thank you very much!
Ellen, may I ask what percentage of water discount do you usually do? Do you think 25 is too much? ❤
I usually go around 33% or less.
About how much sugar, clay, etc. would you add if making a 2 pound batch of soap?
I recommend 1 tsp per lb of oils for the additives.
So do you like using essential oils over fragrance oils.....pros vs cons?
Personally, I'm a fragrance gal. There's such a great variety and they tend to stick longer in CP soap... But I do love pure essential oil soaps too🧡💛
How much NaOH did you use for the lye mixture?
Here's a video with 4 great soap recipes: ua-cam.com/video/SO5n4uWEVO0/v-deo.html
Hi mam,
Can we make aloe vera lye solution like this for making shampoo bars? Is sodium hydroxide safe for hair?
Some people like CP soap for shampoo, other's don't.... I suggest a small test batch and see how you like it.
Thanks

Majority of aloe Vera juice has sugar, check it because probably you ll no need to add the additional one.
I can’t have caffeine at all. I actually haven’t had it in 30 years! I’ve often wondered if I could tolerate it topically, but I’m too scared to try 😂
Well, soap is a rinse off product so it would be very light in the effects.
I'm having trouble believing that you are 56. Late 30's or early 40's ok but no 56 😅
