I retrofitted mh1's into a 98 civic and the biggest problem I ran into was a line across the reflector bowl that caused the projector to bounce on bumps. I solved it with some epoxied shims on the reflector bowl. Good luck to all you fellow retrofitters!
I recommend that you use 100% cotton gloves when handling hot headlights. That way you won't heat nitrile (chemicals) on your hands. Hot or warm nitrile is detrimental to health.
This is a great tutorial. Only thing I would like to put out is the oven temperature, I recommend a lower temp. I put mine on 275 degrees and it melted the headlight. 175 degrees works better for me!
+Evandro Ezaki Thanks for your request. The steps for a EG Civic would pretty much be the same as I believe the EG Civic also uses H4 bulbs from factory. You would use the H4 adapter in the headlight just like in this video for the EK. Only suggestion we have would be to get EG headlights with a clear headlight lens as the factory ones are fluted and thus will refract the light output from the HID's in all directions. Not good!
+Greg English Thanks for watching! The H4 adapter allows you to the the place the threaded end of the projector through the adapter so that it's centered in terms of the X-axis and Y-axis. It however, does not lock in the rotation of the projector so that is why it is important to mount your headlights back onto the car to ensure the rotation of the projector is correct so that you get a level cutoff beam pattern. If you're looking for a projector that has an H4 adapter that takes care of the rotation, check out my other video of the Mini D2S 3.0 projector here: bit.ly/1QOcsN7
+Johnny Saeteurn Thank you! If you're referring to the H1 HID bulb pigtails, those go into your HID ballast. But if you're referring to the two wires coming out from the projector, those are for the high/low beam solenoid and those would go into a wire relay harness.
+Johnny Saeteurn Hi Johnny the locking nut goes on the back of the projector to lock it in place inside the reflector bowl. The wiring is H4 from your car > wire harness or directly into the ballast if you'r enot using the wire harness > H1 HID bulb
This is a bad ass product and a well explained step by step process, only question would be if this kit fits a del sol headlight lens, I already have a 1 piece headlight with a clear lenses but would love to get as much light as possible in front of me, do you guys have any kits that will fit the factory fog lights on the del sol??? I have the European housing which has glass lenses and it also takes an h4 bulb like the headlights, awesome product and would love to hear back from you guys
Great video. Seems like a silly question but how did you power the bulb outside the vehicle? Can you give me the steps and equipment you used to do so?
we use a 12V power supply from a computer that we modified. We recommend you search online for the instructions as we don't suggest lining up your projectors this way. We recommend you install your headlights onto your car and turn on your HIDs to ensure the cut off is straight and level.
+shine50588 Thank you! I hope this video helps others out with their own retrofit. I think it was you that had a question about our projectors, did you see our response to your question on Instagram? If not please feel free to contact us for further info.
the 2 bolt to remove to the bulb shield, when you loosen the bolt and then take the shield out. do you tighten the bolt back? great video by the way. awesome how to by far. keep up the great work
+gwerx Rico I'm glad you found this video helpful. There will be more how to videos to come :) As for the 2 bolts, I believe you're referring to the adjusting bolts at the back of the headlight that you loosen for the reflector shield. You can loosen them all the way and take the whole reflector bowl out from the headlight, then yes, you would need to screw the adjusting bolts back on the reflector bowl. What I did was loosen them just enough without detaching the bolts from the reflector bowl, so that I had enough room to unscrew the 1 screw that holds the bulb shield inside the reflector bowl. That way I didn't have to remove the whole reflector bowl from the headlight. Does that make sense?.
You would have to double check with whoever you're buying the headlight housing from. But, from what we've seen, all the aftermarket EK headlight housings are the same as OEM in terms of bulb type and fitment. There would be no difference in the way you retrofit HID Projectors from us.
+gwerx Rico Yes you would tighten the 2 adjusting bolts back. You don't have to tighten it all the way, just back to where it was before you loosened them. You will likely be adjusting them again when you aim your newly installed HID Projectors.
thanks for the video it is awesome...i have a problem i order mini bi xenon but it ist fits for right hand drive but we are left hand drive here in philippines..is it ok to install it though?pls. help me for what will i do?thank you...
We can't speak to the motor vehicle laws in the Philippines but if you installed projectors that were meant for RHD, your cut off pattern would just be the 'wrong' pattern for where you drive. I can't speak to the projectors you purchased either as I don't know how they compare in beam pattern quality to the ones we carry but I would make sure that you aim your projectors properly and low enough to account for the incorrect direction of your cut off pattern so you don't blind on coming traffic.
Thanks a lot for the video! Very detailed. Now I have a question would this fit my 2004 civic si ? And second, I don't seem to find a ballast in your website, do you guys only sell projectors and shrouds?.
+Fred Torres Thanks for the comment! The Mini H1 6.0 Projectors will fit in the 2004 Civic Si in terms of size. However when it comes to mounting, the back of the reflector bowl on the 2004 Civics has a different bulb type/shape (9006) from this civic shown in our video. You would need to shave down the back of the reflector bowl in order to sit the projector far in enough so you have enough threading to screw on the locking nut. We're working on a video that will show what needs to be done to shave down the back of 9006 headlights soon so stay tuned!
+Fred Torres Thank you! And we forgot to answer your question about the HID Ballasts. Currently we are still testing out different ballasts and bulbs to find the best quality and value for our customers. So, at this moment we only have projectors and shrouds on our website.
+Tanzeel Rehman Hi there, you can find all the information about these projectors and the price at: www.lumeneticlighting.com/product/mini-h1-bi-xenon-projector/
Great video. What projectors and shroud would you recommend to retrofit headlights in my 2002 Rav4? Would the Mini d2s 3.o work? Simse like I cant find any videos on older Rav4. Thank you
+Daniel Pawlata (DPFAST) Thank you! The Mini D2S 3.0's (round or square lens) would be a good choice for the 2002 RAV4's. 2002 RAV4's have an H4 bulb opening just like in this Civic headlight and the Mini D2S 3.0 kit comes with an H4 adapter that makes install pretty much plug and play for the projectors. We did a retrofit with the Mini D2S 3.0's on a Toyota 4runner that also uses H4 bulbs. You can find that How To video on our channel as a similar retrofit to a RAV4 with Mini D2S 3.0 Bi-Xenon Projectors..
We've retro'd MH1 6.0's and MD2S 3.0 Projectors into RSX headlights before. As the RSX uses H1 bulb socket from factory, you will need to modify and widen the bulb opening so you can fit a projector through the back of the reflector. Check out out Retrofit guide videos for more info: ua-cam.com/video/txbfmWZpHq8/v-deo.html
If you're looking for replacement headlights (non-OEM), I would suggest amazon.com or even depo headlights.from www.carid.com/automotive-lighting.html?gclid=CjwKEAiAp97CBRDr2Oyl-faxqRMSJABx4kh9gITzcZIuhu6jcN0azAf56k0I4oQmDugLPJSP-sYvlRoC7Obw_wcB
What do you suggest for a 98 civic ex with new factory headlights. looking for something pearl white with a modern stock shroud. also what do you recommend for fog lights too? hope to hear from you soon!
i have a 97 civic what would you recommend because i wanna go hid but i want to do it the right way? And also with this will it be high and low beams or just one?
We'd recommend you to use our Mini H1 6.0's or the Mini D2S 3.0. Both are on our website at lumeneticlighting.com . Both of these we recommend have low and high beam which is controlled by the solenoid.
You should align the lights on the car prior to sealing you really should if not you’ll have to bake them again and separate you can use a two part water seal type epoxy
+Lumenetic Lighting thanks for repling to my comment. will this setup work for a more sleek look on my ek hatch. Mini H1 6.0 with the Iris shroud + (if needed) shroud centric ring.
For sure! Mini H1 6.0 with an iris shroud will look clean. And, the Iris shroud has a flat side just like the e46r extended, so install will be quite easy. You will need centric rings if you are using iris shrouds with the Mini H1 6.0's.
hi, im trying to purchase the projector but you guys are out of stock. would you know when you will get more stock? also what does the 2nd option mean? E.G Gattlin gun etc.
hey buddy, what's the stock bulb type fitment? I see that most projector uses H4/H7 adapter before screwing the projector into place, what if the bulb type is not H4 or H7? Mine is H11.
+Truth Man you can use mini H1 6.0 projectors however, you will need to shave down the back of your reflector bowl inorder for the projector to sit far in enough so you can mount it with the locking nut. I will be posting a video on how to modify 9006 headlights to fit these projectors.
we don't have projectors that "bolt in" directly like the ones in this video as the 2009 malibu uses H11 style bulbs from factory. The opening on the back of your headlight where the projector would go needs modification. So it's doable but we don't have a direct bolt in adapter.
+Rick James Thanks for your question. We're not sure we understand your question as this video shows you how you would change your halogen headlight over to our HID Projectors. The purpose of installing (retrofitting) the HID Projectors is to improve the light output from your halogen headlights. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
+mas mas I think you're asking for an install? Please visit our website for more information if you're looking for install service. lumeneticlighting.com
Hey can i send my headlights to you and pay you to do this for me cuz i'd royally f*** something up lol. I tried this with a extra light i had n i don't even wanna tell u how bad that went and i got burned lol. HELP ME PLZ????
we apologize for the inconcenience. The MH1 6.0 projectors are super popular and we're working on getting more. If you are interested, please visit our site and shoot us an email for pre-orders.
That is a damn good step by step video of how to install the HID kit.
thank you. We're trying to deter people from upgrading their headlights to HID's improperly
make the same video for mk6 jetta :)))))))))))))
Damn. So much easier than I expected! Ordering the one piece head lights I've always wanted, right now. HIDs with projector retrofit coming soon!
Best cooking show ever 👍🏽
I retrofitted mh1's into a 98 civic and the biggest problem I ran into was a line across the reflector bowl that caused the projector to bounce on bumps. I solved it with some epoxied shims on the reflector bowl. Good luck to all you fellow retrofitters!

how do you wire the solenoid? im so confused at that
This is a great tutorial.
Only thing I would like to put out is the oven temperature, I recommend a lower temp. I put mine on 275 degrees and it melted the headlight. 175 degrees works better for me!
Brilliant video mate
can you guys please do a DIY video for 92-95 EG Honda Civic?
+Evandro Ezaki Thanks for your request. The steps for a EG Civic would pretty much be the same as I believe the EG Civic also uses H4 bulbs from factory. You would use the H4 adapter in the headlight just like in this video for the EK. Only suggestion we have would be to get EG headlights with a clear headlight lens as the factory ones are fluted and thus will refract the light output from the HID's in all directions. Not good!
Great video. Saving for later
The part that I am confused about is how the high beams work? Thanks for the video
Great video! How much rotation was needed with the H4 adaptor? (I thought the adaptor would eliminate the need for that!)
Great Video... I have projectors and proper kit for it but the question that I have is that the h1 connection (pigtails) where does it go...
+Johnny Saeteurn Thank you! If you're referring to the H1 HID bulb pigtails, those go into your HID ballast. But if you're referring to the two wires coming out from the projector, those are for the high/low beam solenoid and those would go into a wire relay harness.
+Lumenetic Lighting In the need of how the bolt holder goes in and also which wire from the projector goes with the harness.
+Johnny Saeteurn Hi Johnny the locking nut goes on the back of the projector to lock it in place inside the reflector bowl. The wiring is H4 from your car > wire harness or directly into the ballast if you'r enot using the wire harness > H1 HID bulb
If your using aftermarket headlights:
Polish those babies with maguires or they will go to shit in a month.
Wow! Nice vid
amazing! does it have a low / high beam?
excellent video. how is the downroad light output compared to stock? do you blind oncoming drivers? are these adjustable for up\down & left
ight?
This is a bad ass product and a well explained step by step process, only question would be if this kit fits a del sol headlight lens, I already have a 1 piece headlight with a clear lenses but would love to get as much light as possible in front of me, do you guys have any kits that will fit the factory fog lights on the del sol??? By "adjustments after everything is put back together", do you mean
adjusting the two screws that you used to back out the headlight shield in step 4?
great video!
+shine50588 Thank you! I hope this video helps others out with their own retrofit. I think it was you that had a question about our projectors, did you see our response to your question on Instagram? If not please feel free to contact us for further info.

nice 99 ek civic
Great job on the video-very easy to follow, could you please do one for a 2000 maxima?
same deal with the factory 99-00 headlights right? no difference between aftermarket and oem design wise?

after you take the bulb shield. do you tighten the 2 bolt back? thank you for replying back
+gwerx Rico Yes you would tighten the 2 adjusting bolts back. You don't have to tighten it all the way, just back to where it was before you loosened them. You will likely be adjusting them again when you aim your newly installed HID Projectors.

i’m trying to retrofit some projectors onto my OEM gsx headlights but i never tried anything like that before lol
I've just fitted mines I'm just wondering how I wire it up to my 99 ek hatch
I saw the power and ground wire behind the projector but how did you wire it to you’re cars harness did you tap in to them ?
what kind of headlights are these? depo? do you have a link?
google depo headlights
Amazing guide, very detailed, visual and wth tips.
Will be trying this on my car soon.
Thank you!
Would this work the same way with 96-98 Civics??
Yes, exactly the same.
When using projector headlights, is the reflector or the shroud necessary?
No
So what HID kit will i need to purchase for the EK civic?
+Khmen Em You will need to purchase an HID kit with an H1 bulb and an H4 HID wire harness
would this work with led bulbs
What happened to lumenetic lighting website?
Great
Hi Where can I buy a similar light for me to make the same for my homda civic 2000 lx

how do u replace the bulb aka the projector if it burns out one day
Hey I just tried the links, none of them work, can you email me the price of the full headlights for 2000 civic?
I've tested the links in the description and they work. Are you using the links in the description?
Why souldnt i use silicon to seal the headlight?
2.5 inch or 3.0 inch lense?
plz let me know the price for the Projectors uhave used in this civic headlights. thanx
+Tanzeel Rehman Hi there, you can find all the information about these projectors and the price at: www.lumeneticlighting.com/product/mini-h1-bi-xenon-projector/

when is stock going to be available for the e36 extended shrouds also do you ship to Australia?

Can you do one for a 92-95 civic
Are these ones LHD or RHD? Also mini graphite or the other one mini gatling gun
These are LHD in the video and the shrouds are neither mini graphite or mini Gatling gun. They are E46R Extended shrouds shown in the video.
Hello, do you have any projector for a 1998 Mitsubishi montero? H4
do you have anything for EG Civics?
Yes you can get our MH1 6.0 or MD2S 3.0 projectors. Both come with an H4 adapter which will fit into an EG civic.
what about HI LOW beam ?
could you please make a video on how to do this for a 6th gen honda accord (1998-2002)?
Whats highest wattsge hid that i can run with this retrofit, please. And thank you in advance!
Why do you want highest wattage?, 35w is the best balance of life expectancy and performance.
Do you still have a link so I can search for the projector??
And is h4 possible or is h1 easyer?
please do diy 98-01 integra
We'll try but so far no DC integras yet.
how much do yall charge to do this for a 95 honda civic?
will this work on a integra? can i order the same shitl ike min h1?

How much u charge me to do mines ?
Please review our website for retrofit service and product info. www.lumeneticlighting.com/services/

What is a good size projector for a 02-04 acura rsx headlight housing? 2.5 or 3"
Hi, what if my headlight is hb4 bulb socket ring type, which type should be suitable for hb4? H1 as well? Thanks
you have some that will fit a 2009 malibu ???
we don't have projectors that "bolt in" directly like the ones in this video as the 2009 malibu uses H11 style bulbs from factory. The opening on the back of your headlight where the projector would go needs modification. So it's doable but we don't have a direct bolt in adapter.
ttyt
u send for brazil ?
Yes we ship to Brazil. But, please review our shipping and orders policy on our website prior to ordering.
Can that hid replaced with nay other led kit?
No the projector is meant for HID bulb light output. You will be disappointed if you put an LED bulb in these projectors.
Lumenetic Lighting i want it for fiat bravo II year 2007 projector headlight
I just got my projectors for my 2000 honda civic headlight. I just don't know what bulb I am suppose to us for it.
+elprimo emilio Hey thanks for ordering from us! The Mini H1 6.0 Projector will need H1 HID bulbs.
what if my car has halogen projectors and i just want to swap that to an hid projector?
+Rick James Thanks for your question. We're not sure we understand your question as this video shows you how you would change your halogen headlight over to our HID Projectors. The purpose of installing (retrofitting) the HID Projectors is to improve the light output from your halogen headlights. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
How much will you do it for a 92 Honda Civic dx hatchback?
Jose Hernandez I'll do it for $30

how much would you sell me some for my 98 honda civic dx coupe?
Hi Roydi, thanks for your comment. I have emailed you the pricing for a complete retrofit including the headlights.

The links do no work...
Anyone in the south LA area can do this install for me?
Hola me queda una duda
You should remove the factory reflector shroud to look nicer than this way you installed it
and leave a massive gaping hole in the middle of the headlight around the HID? better to paint it black..
you should update your links, they don't work anymore.
Our website was under maintenance but it is working now and all links work.
Links down again
Hey can i send my headlights to you and pay you to do this for me cuz i'd royally f*** something up lol. I tried this with a extra light i had n i don't even wanna tell u how bad that went and i got burned lol. HELP ME PLZ????

I just hate civics
Would this work for a 2006-2011 Civic?
I will this also work for 96-98 Civic?
Will this be the same process for a 1992 Civic EG?
I think the CORONA got him...doesn't reply to questions anymore and the website link will give your computer a virus as well!
Does this also work for the 96 civic style headlight?
