i hate the new locker. i used to save my own emotes for every skin. now they save separated.

Exactly, plus I don't see why there's a preset for wraps, since you literally can apply them faster with one click. Why save presets today, when Epic had dismantled the entire locker???? There's nothing I hate more in my life than that locker UI!!!! Idiots

3:30 is honestly one of the reasons save the world not getting updated anymore is kinda a nice thing, it’s like a little pocket dimension back into 2017-2019, I love it. I don’t even want to know what a 2023-2024 styled save the world would look like.
The only thing save the world needed in my opinion was a storyline in twine peaks plus maybe new content every few months or so instead of recycled stuff from years ago. I'm one of those people who played hundreds of hours of save the world (for admitily vbucks mostly) but because I liked the gameplay loop, I love things that are grindy.
I had I lot of time to burn a good 3-5 years ago. I played a lot of Warframe (around 700 hours), GTA Online (a good 1500 hours)
and Red Dead Online (1350 hours), plus creating in creative mode in Fortnite for fun was another one as I liked the grind of making creative islands, and more recently Deep rock galactic. I never really enjoyed MMOs like Warcraft or runescape for the grind though as the gameplay wasn't as fun. Nowdays I have a life so I don't have the time to burn but I have fond memories of the times I spent (except 99 percent of gta online)

I agree Epic should just leave STW alone. They should preserve it to have the look and feel of the Chapter 1 Vibe from old days. All they gotta do now is just add more story line and bring back daily rewards and were set!!!
The color and rarity system helped alot with organizing skins and other cosmetics taking that out turned the locker into an unorganized mess
I'm pretty new to this game and don't really care about rarities, I can actually understand why it would make sense to remove them. BUT I don't understand why they removed it without adding some other categories to make it easier for people to find their skins. Like military, meme, fantasy, water, agents, cartoon, sports, etc. It would make more sense and could even be a more effective way to sort the skins.

Change is never fun though when it comes to these things and if I had played for years I'd probably be irritated as well.

In my opinion this change is soooooo stupid and unnecessary ! When Epic Games changed it the first time it was'nt good but later got "better"...but now everytime i go to my locker i have same problem over and over and over again... Picking a Skin going into a Match and again i forgot to change my Lobby,Wrap, Emotes and Car now there is another problem: searching for Skins Backblings Picaxes etc. ! I think If Epic keeps doing this than Fortnite is going d!e in like 2-3 years because of unnecessary changes like These.
The wrap not being included with the character is mindblowing to me. I don't give a shit about the loading screen or car but the wrap is something you see the entire game.
And I certainly don't take the time to change emotes, wrap etc. every time I run a different character. Imo they're not doing themselves any favors because I stopped looking at wraps in the item shop now because of this.

the shop ui is horrible and the changes they have made to what cycles into/stays in the shop for months is laughably stupid. there has to be like a five day maximum time before a shop segment returns and it always features the same few skins and an emote or two for months now due to the lego versions - but never included any of the newer updated ones. even the festival tracks, lego sets and cars should be in their own clickable sub tabs in the shop yet they insist on keeping them there to clutter the shop which changes its order every damn time you open it

You shouldn't be worried about seasons being made in UEFN. UEFN by the end of 2025 will be on par with the regular UE5 editor, and if it's not, epic will just not use it until it is.

Epic’s problem is that Battle Royale is what made Fortnite popular and a cultural phenomenon. They can push the whole making Fortnite a platform all they want but the average person will never see it that way. The millions upon millions of players who made Fortnite so popular will always see it as a BR.
I feel like Epic Games will remove rarities like Shadow, Lava, Slurp and Dark since they are not Collab related.

My biggest issue is the removal of hotkeys for thinks like archiving, favoriting, and swinging pickaxe and the like
Fortnite really has to revert there "Improvements" soon before people start asking for real ones if you know what I mean...
I feel they go Di$ney way and noone is to big to fail if you take this road. Plus Di$ney is constantly hating its audience. Idk how it ends for epic, they might kill their golden goose very soon.
They wanna be greedy? That's cool. They wanna be a platform? That's cool I will uninstall this effortless game.
One word: Oversimplification.
This obviously means that you attempt to simplify things alot more than necessary, which in turn makes it more complicated. I have studied a bit of software design, so I do know the main sources of this problem, and in the Fortnite Locker UI's case, it's because of too much abstraction.
And sorry if I sound nerdy, but I am probably gonna have to go in-depth to explain the obvious. Abstraction is pretty much just taking complex amounts of data, and layering it into different sections in order to prevent large messes of data that cannot be interpreted. If you take that logic into the Fortnite Locker UI, you can see how it has been over-abstracted to fit different criteria of cosmetics (e.g emotes, wraps, characters, etc.).
Obviously, the issue with the new UI goes into the lack of QoL (Quality of Life) that the old locker UI used to have, since everything was on one screen, and you could make locker presets out of everything without feeling like there was too much to do. When they seperated everything the way they did, there was too much abstraction, creating oversimplification.
At the same time however, just adding everything together into one screen for the locker UI (which means car loadouts for both kinds of cars, instruments you can equip, and Jam Track loadouts), then it would be too much information for a player to handle, creating a complicated mess of data. Fortnite obviously wanted to prevent that kind of issue from happening, but went too far and created the messy UI we have now.
Had they done something akin to making different lockers for each mode (split it between BR, Lego, Rocket Racing, and Festival), then it wouldn't be too complicated and pooled for players to get confused, nor would it be too abstracted to cause oversimplification. I'm pretty sure someone even made a Locker UI concept based off of this kind of idea.

I remember you could see the item shop clearly, two featured item shop skins that stay for a while and 6 daily items that change well daily, also, the quest tab used to be fucking simple. Make a new system for this meta verse crap, this is not roblox.
Locker didn’t need any changes, just add the sections for the extra game modes
Item Shop looked fine but is now overfilled these days
They should add the old lobby game mode tab back, but it’s a quick access to chosen games you put in instead of having to search through the discovery
I think im done spending and money on fortnite for a while. They keep changing in favor of making more money and they are already a giant. I know they are trying to build up to a metaverse and that costs big bucks but milking the playerbase instead of just letting evolve naturally is so stupid. They couldve continued to make the money and keep the pace the same. Theres no competition here. Fortnite dominates. So who thought this would be a good idea?
There is 1 reason why Epic is getting more "greedy" as of late.
Metaverse/UEFN integration has been VERY EXPENSIVE and Epic is at a continuous net loss as they cannot keep up with the money they are spending. So they are cutting costs and adding more fake cosmetics in whatever form and laying off employees to counter it, to rake in more money.
So, if they did keep the pace they had, and let it evolve naturally. The company would be in the dirt in a few years. They had an option to either speed things up or slow things down. And they picked to speed things up as slowing things down is never good in companies. Even the giant ones.
Also, there is 100 percent competition out there. There are hundreds of games with hundreds of millions of players that Fortnite could have. Roblox for example has about 216 million monthly players which is VERY close to Fortnite's 222 million players. OBVIOUSLY 200ish million players are crazy numbers for a game and all those players aren't mutually exclusive between Fortnite or Roblox but saying Fortnite is dominating isn't that true.
Unrelated, but I haven't spent a dime on Fortnite for probably 4 years now. I get VBucks from Save the World. But more recently ever since chapter 3 season 4, I just stopped buying/completing the battle pass.
And I bought literally EVERY single battle pass from chapter 1 season 3 til then. I don't think I've played a match of Battle Royale by myself to GRIND QUESTS or HAVE FUN in almost 2 years. All I do nowadays is play mostly creative and UEFN (who would have guessed) and play island codes, with maybe a bit of Save the World here and there. Plus some of the new modes from time to time.

I feel like they are just caring about the money more than their community, nobody asked for the locker change or anything, but changed it thinking it one more modern,the old was looks better and the Lego set and car sets for v bucks is ridiculous because you can’t use the Lego sets in battle Royale or anything which is unfair to the players because they spent their hard earn cash on them
I personally think it will be a good thing IF the removal of item rarity leads to more uniform pricing that makes sense. I feel rarities lead to even worse artificial inflation of prices due too the "higher rarity" ones being more sought after as opposed to ones with more effort, a big problem with the fortnite community is that they dont care for the game or the changes themselves, they care about artificial exclusivity and a market which epic has actively been trying to get shut down in account selling. Though i do have to agree with the creative inventory changes as well as the lobby interface as a whole, you should get a first screen that asks if you want br, stw, ff, rr or creative and throw all of the misc modes beneath each of those categories so you see only what is relevant to your chosen and have a setting for a prefered mode to auto launch as well as a button in the lobby that lets you swap between modes.

I don't think this is as big as an issue as many is making it out to be. Of course, making battle royale in UEFN right now is a VERY BAD IDEA. But in about a year or so from now, UEFN will be in a much better state and will be on par with the UE5 editor in features, if not even more directly supported to create Battle Royale. So by then, it won't make a difference. Plus with Epic being confident they can pull it off to the extent they announce it at GDC is probably a good sign. AND in the small chance it's not ready, Epic can just delay doing it. It's not a big deal.

That's probably the only upside to the new UI in my opinion. The search feature is more useful now, and you can use it in the island settings. Everything else is not good.

So when I bought all the cars, and most of instruments. I even got the green pincher, and that was an EPIC ERROR? I bought the other weird mint green guitar also. Now my account is locked up, an 14 days later I find out this is an EPIC FU? Wow! I was a STW founder, Lvl 120 Twine, All missions complete, except Plays with others, 500 some to go. Why are they not communicating with all of us? My 5000 BR account, with all my earned skins, and bought ones, in EPIC's loving arms.🤑

I don't know either. It's either cause it's too scary for kids or something like that like the Black Knight is another, or it's too similar to just regular John Wick in LEGO form, which might be why, or they just haven't gotten by to create it. But if they made the thousand or so skins and for some reason one of the most famous fortnite skins aka The Reaper isn't a priority, I'd say its the first reason.

I like Festival and Rocket Racing and... also Lego to some extend. But I don't think they belong inside of Fortnite. I like the way they implemented Save the World, you are thrown into a different styled lobby and it all screams Save the World... except the locker... obviously. Like, I like the seemingless switching between all the modes, but they should all have seperate lockers and seperate shops. Like make the shop have tabs on the top where you can switch shop, make the locker have tabs for each gamemode, make the quest menu have tabs for different modes. SEPERATE THE MAP AND COLLECTABLES FROM THE QUEST MENU! (I keep pressing M to open the map, but just... nothing happens, and lately I couldn't even find it in the quest mnu anymore. If you make Fortnite a platform, make all modes seperated and don't make Battle Royale the platform for Rocket Racing...!!! Actually, I think Rocket racing probably has the best UI design that should be used universally over Fortnite. It has the classic feel while feeling updated. There's a great concept by hatsondogs I saw on twitter by him. twitter.com/hatsondogs_/status/1780648885876085158 .

Epic used to be better, not that long ago. What happened?
Disney dumped 1.5 billion into Epic not that long ago, that's what happened. This might an ominous sign of things to come, based off Disney's history of deals with gaming companies like EA and others.
It's not Disney or anything like that, It's the fact Tim Sweeney in pursuit of his vision of Fortnite and Epic as a whole spent too much money too quickly. Epic is losing money at a net loss, and I guess their way of recuperating those losses is to add and overprice thousands of cosmetics and company lay-offs.
Instead, maybe they should try not paying single Fortnite creators that copy hypixel modes 10 million a year and reinvest it into fixing the game, making the players happy first, then after that recuperate their losses from the now happy player base wanting to now enjoy the cosmetics etc.
They layoff 16% of the team and it seems they changed the people who made decisions and didn’t choose the option we would prefer 😢
