    Part 1-3: • Choosing the Correct C...
    **** General PDI Checklist ****
    Exterior Inspection:
Paint and Bodywork: Check for uniformity in paint, no scratches, dents, or patches.
Windows and Windshield: Look for cracks or chips.
Lights and Indicators: Ensure all are working correctly, including headlights, taillights, brake lights, and turn indicators.
Tires: Check for proper inflation, brand consistency, and tread wear. Don't forget the spare tire.
Wheels: Look for any damage or scuffs on the rims.
Panel Gaps: Ensure consistent gaps between panels; uneven gaps can indicate poor assembly or previous damage.
Doors, Trunk, and Hood: Open and close to check for smooth operation. Ensure the trunk and hood latch securely.
    Interior Inspection:
Upholstery: Check for tears, stains, or any damage to the seats and roof lining.
Instruments and Controls: Ensure the dashboard lights up correctly, and all gauges and indicators work as expected.
Infotainment System: Test the radio, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation (if applicable), and all speakers.
Air Conditioning: Check for effective cooling and operation of the climate control system.
Seats: Operate all seat adjustments to ensure they are working correctly. Don't forget to check the rear seats and any foldable seats.
Lights: Interior lights, reading lights, and any ambient lighting should be working.
Mirrors: Adjust rearview and side mirrors to ensure motors work (if electronically controlled).
    Under the Hood:
Engine Bay: Check for any visible leaks, ensure all fluids (engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, and windshield washer) are at correct levels.
Battery: Ensure it's securely mounted and terminals are clean and tight.
Belts and Hoses: Look for cracks or signs of wear.
    Under the Car:
Leaks: Check for any signs of oil or fluid leaks under the vehicle.
Exhaust System: Ensure it's securely mounted and shows no signs of damage or rust.
    Test Drive:
Engine Performance: The car should start smoothly without unusual noises.
Transmission: For automatics, ensure smooth gear shifts. For manuals, check clutch operation and gear shifting.
Brakes: They should feel responsive, not spongy. Listen for unusual noises during braking.
Steering: The car should steer straight without pulling to one side.
Suspension: Listen for any abnormal noises over bumps.
    Documentation and Miscellaneous:
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): Match the VIN in the documents with the one on the vehicle (usually visible through the windshield on the driver's side).
Owner's Manual and Service Booklet: Ensure they are present and correct for the vehicle.
Tool Kit and Jack: Verify their presence and condition.
Warranty Information: Understand the warranty coverage and duration.
    Tips for Conducting PDI:
Always conduct the PDI in daylight: Natural light is the best for spotting defects, especially in the paint and bodywork.
Take your time: Don't rush the inspection. A thorough check now can prevent future problems.
Test everything: From every button and switch to every feature listed in the car's manual.
Bring a friend: A second pair of eyes can help spot things you might miss.
Don't feel pressured: If you find any issues, don't hesitate to point them out. The dealer should fix any problems before you accept the car.
Please feel free to comment your questions.
