    Hi Matt,
This is brilliant you've given more ideas 1 is to use a tub with a false bottom that is perforated so the spud never sits in water but us a halo o supply nutrient 15 minutes on 15 minutes off the other Idea is to suspend in an IBC through a foam then mist from below. this not to say you're doing it wrong but just ideas I'm looking at building the next little while. I 'm wondering if there'll be a difference when the plant matures if the stalk will die the same as if they are in soil, but I tend to think not as the plant is getting a constant supply of nutrient. You’re the first I’ve watched with any real success I wouldn’t life the stand pipe too high as spuds rot if too wet, I did see a NASA experiment with the misting and they basically were pretty dry. But that required some really fancy timers.
    cheers

Great, now you have my wheels turning:) I have a 3-D printer and now I’m thinking maybe I should 3-D print a floating basket but have legs on that floating basket so that it cannot drop too far down the waterline. Let’s say the water is 13 inches deep and it takes 15 minutes to fill up all the way. It would be cool to have the potato in that basket floating on the top, Then when it drains have it go down about halfway and have the legs on the bottom of the basket hold the potato at 6 inches above the waterline. I’m going to post a photo or a little short clip of what I’m talking about on my Instagram in the next 20 minutes. I’ll put the link here so you can see what I’m talking about and hopefully that will help anyone understand what I’m saying:)

I know there’s two reasons why they die off. 1. They run out of nutrients in the soil. 2. The weather gets too cold. They will not run out of nutrients and I live in Southern California so I might have some big O fat potatoes by the end of this. Wouldn’t it be crazy if I pulled one out that was like 17 pounds!!! Ha ha ha! In one of my older videos I grew a beat and it was like 12 pounds!

@@homefarmideas thanks I was aware of the nutrient situation so it will be interesting when to decide when to harvest technically will not die off 17 pound sound would be fairly conservative from I'm understanding. I've grown spud in posting mix in an IBC and got 25KG which is around 50 odd pounds the next time it was a bit of a failure as we had a storm and drowned everything my drainage was inadequate, so I'm hoping you exceed 15 pound to push the experiment further. I'm fairly optimistic you having of good results. but the pots I have with false plates should be interesting. I have simular weather in the south east corner of Queensland Australia, and it never gets too cold.

Rob Bob has done it. He said that the mediadoesn't let the potatoes form like they do in soil. So they look funny

as long as they taste like a spud who looks at their food we normally just eat it

I don’t think Rob did a video on growing potatoes. I know he did some growing sweet potatoes but he just brushed over it. I love that guys videos and I wish you would do something more in depth on sweet potatoes. Every time he comes out with the video I’m watching for two reasons. 1. He’s a knowledgeable guy. 2. He’s horrible about the knowledge she has. Perfect recipe for an awesome dude😂👍🏼

Well, I do you look at my food but I agree on the fact that I don’t care what they look like as much as I care what they taste like. If you guys watch my last video you will see that the sweet potatoes that I grew did not seem to have too many dimples from the Clay so I’m thinking these potatoes will be the same. At least I hope:)
