Cool!! :) I often wonder why they need traffic lights on the bridge since there's no passing in either direction anyway. Kinda like the lights at Portange and Brpadway.
Thanks! I think it’s like this bridge near where I live where traffic signals are installed, in which the bridge may be closed during extreme weather / high wind events, due to the risk of a vehicle overturning or a similar event. However at the bridge I live near, they’ve also implemented a lowerable gate in addition to the signal
Very nice bridge! Kind of crazy how Prince Edward Island is its own province, making it technically equivalent to the entirety of Ontario, or Quebec. And ouch paying that $50 toll has to hurt every time one leaves the island 😬
Thanks! That toll is really high, and was intended to be similar to ferry rates to/from the island. However from what I’ve heard, it’s just barely enough to break even on the bridge costs, though I’ll have to verify that
I would assume they’re used to close the bridge in its entirety during high wind or other extreme weather events, though I haven’t confirmed directly if that’s the case.
12/30: New City (East Coast USA)
1/1/2024: Toronto to Halifax #1 (weekly)
Calgary content will come out sometime on or after December 31st.
Very nice 👍🏾

What is the purpose of those lights?
