    Hi Scott, thanks for the video a lot more practical information than other videos. What out-front bracket do you use? I've heard it is possible to use some Garmin ones.

    • @scottrider7271
      @scottrider7271  Рік тому

      I actually have a Bryton mount so that's what I use. But I have tried it on a few Garmin mounts and it does fit.. but it's a little tight.. but it does work there was one time where I tried it and it didn't work so it's sort of a hit and miss. They come with a stem or handlebar mount with all units so you can start with that ...and just go and try different garmin mounts.

    It seems Bryton aren't bothering to update the firmware for the "follow track" memory problem, i.e. eventually it will freeze up and even keep resetting won't help, so, makes follow track unusable to me, as a work around, is there a way to stop a follow track while recording? this may help the memory

      I don’t own this headunit yet but from my research, as long as your garmin forerunner have ANT+ it should be able to broadcast the HR to this unit. I own vivoactive 3 and it does have HR broadcasting and can be choose to always broadcast(which will deplete battery much faster) or only broadcast while in activity. Which in theoretical understanding will be need to turn on activity at your watch just will able to broadcast HR. Hence require to turn on two device.

      With the breadcrumbs route if you set up a route but detour off does it work again when you rejoin the route further along?

    • @scottrider7271
      @scottrider7271  5 років тому

      @@peterscuba Yes, it does. If you go off route you can still see the route until it scrolls away from the screen. About 2-3 blocks off route you can still see the breadcrumbs, after that you will need to use your phone or just backtrack until it appears again. What I do is start a route that's a distance away, it will appear when I get to the route.

    • @peterscuba
      @peterscuba 5 років тому +1

      i bought the 420, done a few long rides in Thailand and am very happy with it so thanks again Scott.
      Some observations:
      - breadcrumbs is easy to follow even if starting the route from the opposite direction except POIs and distances are wrong.
      - breadcrumbs route doesn't show direction so when you cross over the track further along the route or where you've already been it can get confusing.
      - Turn notifications are mostly wrong, no idea why, but just following breadcrumbs is ok.
      - Bryton app is excellent at using a ride already done and setting it up as a track to use, except for some rides the track is slightly different to the ride it's based on, a system issue,maybe due to a quirk of Thailand roads and maps.
      The altitude page is a waste of time, sadly I can't see how to turn it off

    • @scottrider7271
      @scottrider7271  4 роки тому

      the 420 has a 'little' better screen, the 60 uses OSM (open street map). basically you can load maps on to the device and use it as sort of a navigation... albeit not as good as a phone (no bike gps are, even the top end garmin). the 420 can follow a line map route with turn by turn BUT it needs to be loaded onto the unit from either a phone or PC before riding. Since the only times i need maps are when i am in a new place the 420 was my choice. This is simply because I will have my phone in these rare instances. The 420 (quick look) video I have shows how to load a route onto the 420 from a phone at the end of the video. Full maps on ANY gps I have used are slow and the screen isn't great to see while riding. Basically if you are needing full maps (OSM) you need to stop anyways... phone works better. Really depends on this factor . Same price you say? tough choice. I prefer the 420, but only because the maps on the 60 are simply 'ok', and i don't use them often. If you think you will use maps alot and dont always take your phone (most people do) then the aero 60. ALSO...the aero 60 and 450 are basically the same unit with different mount.

      Well it does do Bluetooth and ANT... It should work. I just send a message to Bryton and see what they say.... It's not really necessary because you don't need a speed sensor with the bryton. It will pick up your speed by GPS and it's pretty accurate within a second
