Thanks. Yeah, wish they could all be like that. The approach is super cool. I’ve taken a couple people here now because of the approach. Well, and lunch at the diner. And the lake. And…. 😜
Thanks! It’s a 360 camera, so it’s filming all around me the whole time. I just have to edit it later and pick the perspectives and angles I want. It’s not actually moving during flight.
@@BryanArchambeault yes half moon bay. Beautiful indeed. I’ll publish the flight and send you the link from my other UA-cam channel. Are you based around socal?
Nope that landing was not. "moneeee" It was flat on all three wheels. Booo. Get into that flare. Work that wheel back until you touch down on the mains in that nice nose high attitude. Then gently lower the nose. Thats how it's done my man. Coming in flat like that if you misjudge and hit nose wheel first you won't like what happens. Plus more flare gives u aerodynamic braking so you don't touch down with so much speed. Cool airport.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm a relatively new pilot and I probably had less than 250 total hours at the point of this video. A good pilot is always learning and I continue to try to improve my landings. That landing "felt" amazing in the cockpit, but after reviewing the footage, you are correct about the flatness. That's why I like filming my flights so that I can debrief them later...
@@BryanArchambeault Hey no problem. We were all new at one point. I'm a long time CFI and comm pilot. So I when see something I might be able to help with I do. Thanks for being receptive. On a positive note I loved your check list use and checking the "T's and P's" on the roll. 👍 Used to live in So Cal and learned to fly there. Early in my career I was a freight dog and flew a lot into SBP, SMX and SBA. Had never been to L05. Very cool approach and airport. Have you tried Catalina? Another very interesting approach and airport. Big Bear too. Great to see your enthusiasm about flying and enjoying your PPL. Always follow procedures and be safe. Never take chances. Too many accidents these days involving foolish pilots. Blues skies !
@@blue81blue81 Thanks for the encouragement. Yeah, I'm planning on Catalina at some point. Bought the aviation life vests and such. Just haven't gone yet. Wanted more experience before I take on that challenge. :-). I did fly my wife over to Sedona, however. That was pretty epic. :-)
@@BryanArchambeault Isn't that a beautiful place Sedona? That can be a challenging airport. How was the trip in? Love your game plan on Catalina. No rush.
@@blue81blue81 The trip was amazing. Plan was to fly to Williams and take the train to the Grand Canyon, but there was unforcasted bad weather as we got close to Williams, so we diverted to Prescott, then drove to Williams and the train. Flew into Sedona from Prescott a couple days later in beautiful conditions. There's some footage of that flight here on the channel somewhere. :-)
That landing was niiiiiice - looks like a fun approach too

Great video! 3:05

Nice camera work on TO.

Am flying there tomorrow in a 22T, any advice on the approach?
The restaurant is usually listening on CTAF if you want a wind check. Be careful of updrafts or downdrafts on short final as you cross the river.
@@BryanArchambeault thank you. I flew to half moon valley instead. I’ll go to kern with an instructor first.
