      blanchetv Random question? Your book arrived today and I’m making this recipe but in the video you say equal parts of sumac, sesame seed, and thyme but the book has different measurements? Should I add more sumac and toasted sesame seed?

    • @blanchetv
      @blanchetv  4 роки тому

      @@cherilynellis9157 First thank you for getting the book! Often times when I make a video, I still experiment with the recipe until I like it even more. The recipes in the book reflect that further experimentation, so I would use the book recipe first. The rest is a matter of preference, for instance you can't go wrong adding a little more sumac if you like a more lemony flavor, or a little more sesame if you like a nuttier flavor. Thanks again and hope this helped!

      in Lebanon used to mix it with omelet , other times mix zaatar and labneh in the omelet and the secret is you have to stir everything while being fried best way with buttter and do not mix the zaatar with olive oil when making the omelet , today can not use yok so i use egg white and zaatar and onion . try zaatar and white cheese , man-ouchi with tomatoes and or with onions , barely sprinkle some with salad but lots with omelet . When making man-ouchi for variety crack some peanuts and pistachio mix with zaatar peanuts smaller pieces than the pistachio

    Thank you! Another fantastic video. I'm obsessed with the Levantine Cuisines. I eat so much Za'atar, Sumac & Pomegranate Molasses. I sprinkle over everything, from my salads, in dressings, over hummus or moutabel, over my falafel(with red onion, tomato, tabbouleh, hummus in pita), tomato on toast too, lol. I suffer from Fibromyalgia & it makes such a difference! I also make a couple different Za'atar blends. I was given this Jordanian version which adds cumin, garlic powder, turmeric & a couple other spices which ups the anti-inflammation even further. One of my favourite things is Mujaddara (lentils & rice as you know, I love your mum in that video) I make with my Jordanian Za'atar, served with tomato, cucumber, red onion with lemon juice, sprinkled with sumac & of course fresh yoghurt! As you can see I was super excited to see your new video.

      Oh I forgot to mention my emergency entertaining trick. I like making my own labneh balls & keeping in fridge ready to go. I drizzle some with olive oil, fresh herbs, lemon zest & sumac. The rest with pomegranate molasses & roll in za'taar, served wth homemade pita chips. It also works with goats milk chevre if ur out of labneh.

    Thank you for this. After hearing you mention za’atar so frequently, this was the video to push me to try some (thanks Tara and Eloise for suggesting). I tried it three of the ways you mentioned: zeit u za’atar; mixed with olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper as a salad dressing; and the scrambled eggs and goat cheese. Totally digging it - subtle, but with this interesting tang that must be from the sumac.

    What store would have either sumac or zaatar. We have a Patel Brothers Indian grocery store and a Grand Asia Market in my city. (USA)

      The Indian one might have it - a middle eastern store is even better. If not you can purchase it online, this is a good brand: amzn.to/2YvJjSy

    Is it difficult to grow zaatar in Denver CO ? Thanks ✌

    • @blanchetv
      @blanchetv  5 років тому

      The herbs for za'atar are grown in the mediterranean where it is fairly warmer than Colorado all year round. Za'atar is basically: 4 tablespoons ground thyme or savory (see note) 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted 4 teaspoons ground sumac 1 teaspoon coarse salt
