I’ve always been a huge Diane Lane fan, all the way back to her portrayal of Lorena Wood in Lonesome Dove to Christina in The Perfect Storm to Penny Chenery , she is a master of her craft ! Bravo Diane!!

Was a great movie. RED in real life was one of a kind, l do not think that no other horse will ever break RED's Belmont record.

Diane Lane appears to be an intelligent and very personable individual. Surprising for a movie star since any interviews I've seen lately, have been boring and stupid with today's stars. I am please she played the role of Penny Chenery, because Penny was such a class act.

Still enjoy rewatching the movie in addition to actual footage of this astounding true-life story - Secretariat continues to astound us ... as he will our great-grandchildren. The human elements of this story are also quite deep and encapsulating ....her own journey is quite amazing / fascinating.

Love this movie. I cry when he is at Belmont Stakes coming around the last curve and they start singing Oh Happy Day an old hymn. Love horses. Their farm was in Virginia but he retired in Kentucky. She took on great responsibility and came through.

I must say one thing about this interview and that is, that if one is fortunate enough to find something that one loves and that can become a career, then it is so much more than just a "job". It becomes away of life, the "Raison d'Etre", if on likes. A sense of purpose, "The Reason somehow for one's life..". What is even more remarkable is that she(Ms Chenery Tweedy) seems to have somehow known implicitly that, the dam " Somethingroyal" would produce a colt, who in turn would turn out to be such an extraordinary animal.
For the Chenery family to not only have owned and not just purchased the horse but to have actually bred such an outstanding individual, is in itself quite amazing...
Or was it really all just happenstance.....?

If the interviewer is talking about when Penney first took over her father's farm she did not go to Kentucky. She went to where the farm was...Virginia. That is also where Secretariat was born. He retired to Kentucky.

I’ve talked with some ladies who were some of the first female exercise riders and what they put up with. The current generation couldn’t handle it. I’ve told them to write a book about it.

My mom and dad were only 2 in 1973 if I could go back to that year and see that race it would be a dream 😌

So what the heck was the name of this film? I see no title. Is it simply Secretariat?

The secretariat saving the farm is a myth. The farm already had a derby winner with affirmed

Riva Ridge probably saved the farm from the family outvoting Penny to sell it. Secretariat saved it financially

The one thing I dont like about this movie is the message Disney pushed seemed to be more about the woman than the horse..I mean exactly what is the woman do again? She relied on luck too get the horse, she needed one of her fathers MALE friends help to find a trainer, needed her MALE trainers help to find a jockey, needed both her MALE trainer and jockeys help and experience too know what to do with the horse and the races and training because she had absolutely no clue what she was doing...so basically she just sat back and let the MEN do all the actual work while she took praise and acclaim for sitting in a box and cheering

It's the age we live in. The lady was an absolute gem, a sweetheart. But in her own words when repeatedly asked she has said the fact that she is a woman never even entered her mind.

Not interested in the movie. So many books by those who loved Red & his actual races to view, who needs this????
Penny & Red is a documentary made by Penny’s son, for those who are more interested in Secretariat’s owner than the magnificent chestnut miracle, himself.
