I relate to Sunset's feelings when she loses her memories completely. I've actually been there before. I've lost nearly all of my memories in one go before, and while it took me a while to realize I'd forgotten everything when I did it was one of the most crushing experiences of my life. One of the most terrifying. This was the moment that I realized that all of the ways I'd related to Sunset before now... were a gift, and not just some annoying rip-off of my own experiences and metaphors (think the phoenix thing and symbols of rebirth - yeah, that shit means a lot to you when you've had to start everything over due to amnesia, and prior to EQG being a thing I'd used those metaphors in my pony persona of the time... my **phoenix pony persona, with a phoenix as her cutie mark.**). The event that caused me to lose those memories happened ten years ago and I've healed a lot from it, but when this special was released it hit something in me I hadn't realized I still needed. It gave my experience a voice, it gave me someone to relate to when I haven't met anyone to this date who's had that kind of experience. It helped to, at least mostly, close a hole I didn't realize that I still had. I realize this review is old at this point, but I'm here because this special is still extremely important to me, and my personal ties to it have always kinda made it hard for me to watch reviews because most people seem to just skip over what is for me the most important part of the story. I'm glad at least you payed some mind to it, you had something to say about it even if you don't have the same perspective of it that I do, and I thank you for that.
Wow, I'm really sorry you had to go through that, but I'm so glad that EQG managed to tap into something that related to you on such a personal level and gave you comfort in the fact you weren't alone in dealing with an experience like that. That really just makes the special and Sunset that much more meaningful. Thank you so much for your comment, even on an "old" review ^^. It just warms my heart so much seeing that even in its numbered days, the show and EQG are still sources of comfort and belonging to so many people.
This is actually really good. I really like the conflict being unique and interesting. I like how the characters are portrayed. I also like the humor especially the meta humor.
"A man is the sum of his memories, you know. A Time Lord even more so." That ran though my head a lot during this special. Especially in the case of Wallflower because, yeah, she probably DID erase herself from the school's memories cause she didn't want to be embarrassed or like confrontation. It is the little things that help make us who we are.
Something tells me that that's a Dr. Who quote Also yeah, Wallflower just kept hurting herself by eventually abusing the stone's magic. But, you can't have the good without the bad. Not taking those awkward moments as lessons to improve her social skills never gave her a chance to have good memories. I also liked that Trixie actually showed a little wisdom at the end with Sunset in the yearbook room
Whoo! Awesome review! And yay I hear Def Leppard’s We Belong is in the background so *takes a deep breath and tries singing to the music* And Twilght’s reaction you showed first is like me when a favourite driver finally gets a podium the first time or a decent driver.
Excellent review, and yes, that's been one the biggest flaw in this franchise, that the villain reveal is way too obvious, heck the only reason I didn't picked up Gloriosa Daisy was the villain in LoE until almost the reveal is because I didn't care about her and spaced out a bit whenever she appeared.
Thank you. Yeah, the special had a perfect opportunity to have a twist villain, but didn't capitalize on it. But like I said, i can let it slide because of everything else about the special.
For me, Forgotten Friendship is the most Bland Equestria Girls episode by far. While it did a good job at Showcasing Sunset Shimmer's development over the course of 7 years, it is one of the most Forgettable Episodes of G4, Pun Intended and I nailed it. And the Satire didn't help much.
Anyone else noticed the stone looks like a Sheikah stone?... No?... Just me?... Great review by the way and I think the special was good overall, better than most eqg movies

MrLeftTurn yep and it’s still an awesome background song!
