  • The layout of the Talmud, one of the most important Jewish texts, has remained virtually unchanged since its earliest days in print. This layout reveals a compelling look at Jewish values. What part did Daniel Bomberg - a Christian printer in Venice play in its publication, what’s behind the concept of “daf yomi” (reading a page of Talmud a day) and why has the Talmud’s graphic design not changed for generations?

    The title of this video is misleading. You told us nothing of what is written in the Talmud. The vagueness in this video is odd and suggests there's something to hide. Not one example of an actual passage for us to gain some understanding of the culture.

      Talmud is studied for one's entire lifetime. How can one put Talmud into a 7-minute video?
      As for "something to hide," this is your own prejudice speaking. It's your problem.

    • @tstyleartistry
      @tstyleartistry 6 місяців тому +7

      @Kurtlane I didn't ask for the entire book. The title suggests that there would be SOMETHING from the Talmud. I've watched videos that actually show what's written in it. They managed to do it in videos that ranged in length and from different channels from different perspectives. It's not difficult to put a passage or some form of context into a video.
      Obviously, those videos don't show the entire book (only a moron would even consider that as a possibility) because that would be like putting the entire Bible or Quran or an Encyclopedia into a video, but they managed to show passages, explain history, etc.
      This person clearly used the title for click bait, knowing that people are interested in knowledge and information, and they provided nothing at all.
      I don't think judging something based on what's presented is considered 'prejudice', but if you say so. Click bait titles are akin to lying. This person is a liar. It's not just misleading...it's a straight-up lie. Nothing was "unpacked."

      @@tstyleartistry , it does explain the basic division into Mishnah and Gemara. Beyond that, quoting any passage runs the danger of people mistaking that particular passage for the main message of the book. Why this passage, and not any other?
      The Bible and the Koran are much smaller than the Talmud. Moreover, the Bible at any rate has a process of events following each other, which unifies it.
      Koran was composed of bits of statements put together from pieces of paper, parchment, palm leaves, etc. with writing on it, and whatever was remembered by the last original reciters. So within Koran hides the traditional way of reading it, not from start to finish, but in a completely different way in which it was originally prophesied by Mohammed, or so it is believed, with (supposedly) later passages replacing earlier ones. Which makes it very difficult and debatable, since questions about which ones came earlier and which later will inevitably arise.
      So, as you can see, Koran is quite hidden. Especially from non-Muslims, who are not allowed to read it. But "Muslims have something to hide" is not said. Certainly not as much as "Jews have something to hide." Why? Because anyone saying it risks getting one's head cut off.
      And here we come to the true state of humanity, and how often people who are not allowed to "question" or criticize someone will switch their "questioning" or criticizm in someone else, who will not cut off their heads.
      (I put "question" in quotes here because they "question" like a child tears a little animal into pieces. They cut off body parts of many people, burn people alive, and call it "questioning.")
      Back to Talmud. It's like the Internet. Can anyone describe the Internet in the same way you demand Talmud to be described? "What is the essence of Internet? What is it really about?" And if you cannot -- "Oh, you must be hiding something, (expletives)."
      No, you are not as innocent as you pretend.

    • @Kurtlane
      @Kurtlane 6 місяців тому +2

      @@tstyleartistry , I tried to reply. And was blocked.
      Trying again:
      Talmud is much larger than the Bible or Koran. Moreover the Bible has a certain rhythm, it moves as history moves. It's almost like it's possible to sum it up.
      Koran is not like that, but I cannot say anything about it, or I'll be blocked.
      Talmud is not like that either. It's like the Internet. Of course, you can ask, "what is written on Internet?" But is that a meaningful question? And does not answering it "suggests there's something to hide?"

    Those CONFUSED WHITE PEOPLE are NOT JEWISH - they are KHAZARS & ZIONISTS who's parents, grand parents & great grandparents ARE from Poland & Germany. Within Judaism, there's a distinction between being ethnically Jewish (having ancestry from the Jewish people) and being a convert to Judaism (someone who chooses to follow the Jewish faith). I am Dominican - born in the Bronx, New York. I was raised Catholic. I took my Ancestry DNA in 2018 and discovered I was genetically Jewish. Then everything I read and studied about the 12 Tribes of Jacob, invasion of the Assyrians through the North and how the rest of the tribes escaped through the SOUTH and into Africa, years later came the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and so on. Negroes, Hispanics and Native Americans are the modern day descendants of ancient Israelites.

      "The Talmud" is not one book made by a single author. The compilation happened for centuries. And it's not even canonical doctrine, but debate. If there's something bad about it, is everything in it bad as well, including all the people that wrote it and their relatives? It's like saying because one poem is bad from a compiled anthology of Greek poems, all Greek poets were inartistic, and ergo, all Greeks are ugly and vulgar. See, it doesn't follow at all.
      In addition, it has never been completely ascertained that "Yeshua," which occurs more than thirty times was actually "Jesus." Yeshua was a very, very common name, as well as "Mariam." The accusation is not well founded AT ALL.

      When Ketubot 11b says "it is nothing", it means not that it is permitted, but as it relates to the dowry, she keeps virginity, and for example, can marry a high priest, nonetheless it is forbidden elsewhere.
      Even HaEzer 23:1 - He should not marry a girl who is unable to have children.
      Yevamot 33b:12 - Seduction of a minor girl is considered rape.
      Kiddushin 41a:8 - It is prohibited for a person to bethroth his daughter to a man when she is a minor.
      Niddah 13b:5 - Those who play with children delay the coming of the Messiah.

      Aramaic is the dead language, but also Hebrew was considered a dead language (a language that "no longer has a community of native speakers" even if it's used by people - like Latin) until it's revival about 100 years ago.

    • @UNPACKED
      @UNPACKED  3 роки тому +2

      We actually read about that as well - and even there it is mentioned that while it was used to help Jews from different countries communicate, neither side was a native speaker.
      The definition of a dead language is not that it is wiped from the world - Latin is plenty dead but there are plenty of people who can speak it. It's that there are no communities of native speakers. Hebrew was used almost exclusively for religious purposes, and those Jews that wrote the letters in the Genizah of Cairo probably didn't speak it amongst themselves.

Also in footnote #2 to Shabbat 104b it is stated that in the "uncensored" text of the Talmud it is written that Jesus mother, "Miriam the hairdresser," had sex with many men. "Jesus was a bastard born of adultery." (Yebamoth 49b, p.324). "Mary was a whore: Jesus (Balaam) was an evil man." (Sanhedrin 106a &b, p.725). "Jesus was a magician and a fool. @@alangervasis look at the context of Isaiah 53. Read Isaiah 52 and 54. It is clearly talking about the Jewish people. The Tanakh often refers to the Jewish people in singular. As well as this there is plural used in Isaiah 53.

      Isaiah 53 is actually discussed in the Talmud so I'm not really sure where you got the myth of the "forbidden chapter" from.

      @@alangervasisI don’t see the contradiction. We were sinful, so we were punished for our sins. Also, we can be talked about in singular. For example, any time we are called Jeshurun.

    The talmud was written by the hearts of desperately wicked men which is now called rabbinical Judaism. Jesus said Beware of the traditions of men in the wisdom of this world that comes to nothing in the end. Much like Catholicism with their catechism which is not scriptural, nor is it biblical. In the talmud carrying the writings of the Kabbalah of Jewish mysticism which is also witchcraft condemned by Moses. Overall, Beware of the worldly religions of the world that reject Christ and the writings of the Apostles in the doctrine of the Apostles which coincides perfectly with the Prophets who wrote the Tanaka and the writings of the New Testament by the apostles. One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Yeshua hamashiach.

      @N. Brio Da Zuera old testament Hebrewism and modern day Judaism are historically, biblically, and genetically disconnected from one another. Judaism started after the destruction of the temple in 70ad. Also just because i think the good guys lost ww2 doesnt make me gay

    Avinu revealing the Stars to one Man within the promise gifted us with a trail of star dust greater than all the sands of the earth,we just have to find the ones that become pearls and it takes our whole existence to search with that kind of Love a more perfect one that we can even fathom. Torah is eternal and mankind is finding that out. Let’s hope we take enough time to do Teshuava.
