Fixing My Broken Aquarium to Pour Molten Metal Into It
- I bought a used aquarium to water cast metals, but it was broken and too big. So, I took it apart and made it smaller! I also made a catch tray for easy recovery of metal pellets.
I find water cast metal pellets to be the best for small casting and especially for mixing alloy.
The best way to store scrap metals.
If you need a detailed guide on making aquariums I've watched this one by @SerpaDesign and found it very informative: • Making The Best and Ea...

This is how round shot used to be made, or still made, I don't know. Molten lead was poured onto a plate with holes in it and after it fell thru the holes it fell into a tall column of water, called a Shot Tower. The tower had to be tall enough for the cooling metal to form into spheres and cool and harden before reaching the bottom of the tower. Plates with different sized holes were used to make everything from musket balls to various size shot for shotguns. If you are from the Baltimore area and wondered why that tall brick structure at the corner of E Fayette St and President St is called Shot Tower, now you know.
It's really cool that you made it so that all those things can stack into each other.
Now I miss all the tropical-fish I used to keep 😥.
Nice work, good video.
All that copper in little weird, chaotic "pellets" is a trip.
As is the glass enclosure. Looking forward to more of this madness.
Thats a pretty cool idea! The sounds were just fine! No bother.
Watching that first technique.... Black Beard is making suckers sleep with the fishes in his off-time. xD
BigstackD would be proud of you!
Should use a jar or a plastic container to store the metal, i hate when then zip bags break and they do 😂
Fore real!
Cool natural look. I have a piece I bought from a store right here on my desk.
Yeah right! I had a few bigger pieces that looked very interesting.
You should install a spigot or something to make draining the water easier.
Don't aquarium people just use hand pumps? I feel like it's just asking for leaks :')
@@BlackBeardProjects I know someone who just used a hose and siphoned the aquarium. Though if the water got in contact with molten metal, you might not want to prime the siphon by mouth.
You got rich with washing gold. Look at that pretty bowl full of nuggets! Best wishes from Germany
Very interesting, never seen someone do this before.your mind is always on the go with new ideas.great video as always.just keep doing what you do best and carry on 👍👍👍😎😎😎
great build although you only really need silicon on one side of the joint.
Adding a little washing up liquid will help the water contact the molten copper faster by cutting some of the surface tension
and the added bonus of making easily measurable bits and storing the furnace ...good one
Great video ! Could you make one that teaches us how to repair two broken pieces of marble?
Good job mister beautifully done
Welcome to crafting with garrotes!
I have a question: what will this this copper be used for?
Watch his bronze work videos to see how he uses these chips
It's just a very convenient way of storing it. Makes it easy to weight, especially useful for making alloys! Cheers!
Lots of love & respect from Bangladesh ❤❤❤
Cool sound!
Another fascinating video, Sir. Thank you for sharing your work.
Very well done sir thank you for sharing this with us six stars
smelters paradise...LOL🤣
Have you ever made a fountain pen and if not would you be willing to? If you give it a go, I'd suggest trying Damascus steel with heat bluing.
I did not! That would be cool! Thanks for the suggestion :)
Great work sir 👏 👍 thanks for the sharing this video 😊
I mean, you dont really have to push all that hard on the knife to cut the glass, at some point it actually makes it harder to break, i've been working with glass for few years. I dont know specific terms in english, but theres an oil which makes work way easier. Also as right handed you should cut on the right side of the stopper, its more natural move for your shoulder, less likely to mess up the cut. Altho that was a well done job.
Thanks for the tips! Glass cutting is always tricky to me. Cheers!
Aren't there easier ways to warm up the water for your tea ?
Salut ! 👌🐠👏🤦😂👍👍👍
Pouring molten metal in water 8:06 sound like Sasuke's chidori 😂
That was gorgeous. How long did you have to wait before pulling the copper from the water? This just fascinated me.
Thanks!! They cool quickly. By the time you put the crucible down you can pick them up I think.
Nice.
Metal spaetzle... nice ;)
Awesome
Whatcha gonna do with the copper shot?
Are you using hot water? I tried this with copper and cold water, when I poured it, the water turned to steam and blew up in my face luckily I was wearing my protective gear.
No, room temperature. Did it? That's crazy scary. I had it steam once but because I was pouring too quickly, I think.
What do you do with the copper beans that you can't already do?
It's just a very convenient way of storing it. Makes it easy to weight, especially useful for making alloys! Cheers!
Go on then 🙂 what you got planned ? 😉
Nice job on the tank! What do you use these little nuggets for?
Best ASMR! Thanks Gader 😂
🤣🤣
the sound is scratching my brain, ow
8:48 looks tasty
Granulation.
Very common in industry
I was so nervous at 2 minutes 47 seconds in (not innuendo)
This is the most uncomfortable ASMR ever!
wheres the fishes
👀👍
Tks for your video but for the people who is watching this, for your soul and ears, turn off the sound
I like the sound
Ahah! Was it that bad?! It just doesn't bother me at all :')
@@BlackBeardProjects the glass cutting isn't the more enjoyable sound
