Yeah ikr! I actually dedicated that song to my assaulter and ex too. It really makes me feel way better about everything- It helped me SO much when I reported him and he acted like I was the evil one. It's crazy how toxic people act like you're evil only when you won't let them take advantage of people anymore. My top 3 favorite songs from PORTALS and why:
1. THE CONTORTIONIST
I really love this song because every single part is straight up ear candy, and as someone who may be a people pleaser and someone who is a LITERAL contortionist, this is the most relatable song in the album for me. I'm also wondering why no one is talking about the little "oooh" between the 2nd verse and the pre-chorus, it's just too good! The laugh in the chorus is the most beautiful laugh I've ever heard.
2. NYMPHOLOGY
Every part of this song is also straight up ear candy, I'm surprised no one is talking about how great the 2nd verse is. I also love the line "You can't even spell but you're an "expert" in Nymphology" because I've seen many people claim to be great at something, yet they can barely do it when I see them try. The bridge...actually made me laugh a bit for some reason. Also love how she added Amulet.
3. EVIL
Every single part of this song is amazing. The part of the 2nd chorus where she says, "Now I'm stop drop rolling over all your jokes. Every time you tell a lie I'm praying that you choke, etc..." is underrated as well! The pre-chorus is also amazing! I also love how in the bridge, when she sings, "Take it to the grave if you wanna play pretend" she sounds a bit like Ariana Grande, another one of my favorite singers!
Something I noticed that the songs all have in common, is that a line of each of them shows that they are done getting bad treatment. "I'm done..." from THE CONTORTIONIST, "I will not suffer..." from NYMPHOLOGY, and "I won't be mistreated..." from EVIL. All of them also have something underrated and really good about their 2nd verses. They are also just beautiful and catchy to listen to the whole time. Yet to be fully honest, EVERY song in the PORTALS album is amazing to listen to and I would gladly dance to any of them. This is all just my opinion.
Those are my top 3 as well!!! Along with SPIDER WEB. Theres just something about the instrumental in it that scratches the itch in my brain

I could be totally wrong here, and knowing me, I probably am lol, this is just what I feel while listening to the album….but I’m starting to think this helix faerie creature isn’t what she was reincarnated into, but instead it’s her true form, like the spiritual being or “soul” she really is in between all of the lives she goes on to have.
I only say that because if you think of PORTALS as a story, it seems when Crybaby dies, she goes through the portal, and into the void, and the songs on the album depict situations from the life she just previously lived, only now she’s watching these events as a spectator, forced to judge herself and the things she did, or didn’t do. And she’s not ready for her next life until she truly understands that all of the pain and heartache, the friendship, the love, etc are the lessons and experiences Lilith told her about in K-12. When she finds the light within herself, and learns these lessons, she’s ready to actually get reincarnated ie. the song “Womb” and THATS what her reincarnated form will be.
I say this because Melanie said the album is inspired by past life regression hypnotherapy books and sessions and what people say they see in that stage BETWEEN life and death.
And also, in womb, she mentions that upon birth, we lose our memories of who we were and who we’ve been. If she was reincarnated into this faerie, she would have no memories of these things she’s singing about. Right? Lol

Look guys! Calm down! This was just my opinion. After listening to the album a bit more it isn't as bad as i originally thought. I especially like nymphology and evil. Just remember this is just my opinion, and I'm more crybaby than portals.
