The kuih with green bean filling and coated with flour is called kuih kacang. The sticky rice with the coconut filling is called pulut udang, made of lemongrassp, ginger, dried chilli, onion and dried shrimp. Wrapped with banana leaf and then cook using charcoal.

The chicken rice balls are meant to be served with either poached or roast chicken and maybe chicken soup. Hence chicken rice balls. The rice is cooked with chicken stock. FYI…my parents tell me that when they were young n before leaving Malacca, there was no such thing as chicken rice balls. It’s only a recent invention (last 50yrs).

The filling in one of the cakes are grated coconuts cooked in Gula Melaka (Malacca’s famous palm sugar)

I remember when you made a short and everyone said it's nasi kerabu and not nasi lemak because of the blue color from the clitorial bush. Forgive us, not all of us locals are well-versed in food. Food isn't as simple as sorted by colors, rather it's by flavors, and we have ingredient variations depending on regions. In my state nasi lemak isn't even cooked with coconut milk and served with sambal so that confuses a lot of people especially out-of-towners. Because "nasi lemak" itself refers to the flavor profile (it should taste rich from the fat that makes up the base), so technically it could be made with any rich ingredient that isn't coconut milk. And we eat it with curries instead of sambal, so for others it's just nasi kandar. Just some of the quirks of Malaysian food.
Kuih ketayap is rolled pandan pancake with gula Melaka coconut filling.
The third kuih is pulut panggang. It's sticky rice with spicy coconut filling and grilled over fire. Kinda like the Malaysian onigiri.
The last one is kuih kasturi. It's green bean fritter basically.

Hi again Kay n Gogo. I’m still jealous. You are eating nasi kerabu. The blue in the rice come from the pea flower. Not sure of the Malay name. I see you got the green pancake with the coconut n gula Melaka filling. Yummo! All you need is a teh tarik or kopi to wash it down. Enjoy!

There's been a humorous rumour about how these chicken rice balls are made. They're supposingly made by a group of toothless old ladies, but not using their hands. 😂😂😂
