- The BRIO 500 is Logitech's newest webcam, but how good is it?

Unlike the Logitech BRIO 4K it has a 1080p resolution and doesn't have that default yellowish color tone. And unlike the Logitech StreamCam, it doesn't have a 60 frames per second option, instead it's 30 fps. That said, the BRIO 500 does improve on the monitor mount system to enable nice top-down shots, has a very good onboard camera, and is certified for Microsoft Teams!

FYI, you can mount the brio 500 on a tripod easily, just unwind the magnetic pin at the bottom, and u can easily mount it on any standard tripod out there. This is also shown in the Logitech manual as well.
Good to know. I will try that out. Thank you. It's my favorite Logitech webcam and that was really the only thing I could have faulted it with.
Thanks again for the heads-up. Yes, this is confirmed. The magnetic bolt on the bottom is threaded in via 1/4 20 threads for a tripod.

I prefer it especially if you can find at a discount, unless you have to have 4K, 6Ofps, and/or Windows Hello support. Also the mount is much more flexible than the 4K one.

So is the built-in microphone a good performer on it's own for zoom meetings etc? I won't need to buy an external mic?
I thought it was. You'll still want to be as close as reasonable to it for best sound quality.
I discovered the Heil PR30B mic. It has such wonderful low end rolloff control. My voice EQ does not seem to change much if I'm 12" or 24 " away. And it has great side rejection. Have you ever tried one?
The Heil microphones are really good. I've tried the PR40
Any idea why in Viber it cuts the screen ratio, even though the cam's field view is set to 90 dgrees in settings?
It would be nice if you included standing back and test the mic. In my case we have a couple of people sitting back for Zoom meetings and the microphone can really make a difference whether we are heard.
You don't really want to be more than about 2 feet away from it, like most microphones.
For groups you need a whole other category of products either with an anker conference microphone/speaker pod or with something like Bose Videobar or a lower cost equivalent
Thanks for a great review. For those who are not able to install the Logi Tune software due to company IT policy, is it possible to adjust the field of view using the "zoom" slider in camera settings in Microsoft Teams? (The "zoom" slider is only enabled if supported by the webcam)
I don't believe they open up that control in UVC, but I'll check over the weekend and get back to you.
Sorry about the delay. I have confirmed that Windows UVC pan and tilt controls do work with the Brio 500. Of course, the more you zoom in, the more pan and tilt movement is available.

Of course. You just wouldn't use the adhesive mounting tape on a laptop (assuming you want to remove it later).
Everything is good expect the focal length. Wish there was some way to tweak this to get 50mm or even 200mm results.
I don't know about 50mm, but I was able to manually focus on 200mm.
How well will it work on a large tv and in a conference room setting as a budget alternative to more expensive conference room systems? I am planning on pairing a speaker phone with it
I think it could work. I've seen many meeting rooms with a Logitech C930 and speaker puck. So in the right room (smallish) it could work.

Do OBS and the camera/video-software settings carry over to Zoom and Teams??
The Logi Tune settings will. If you use OBS virtual camera, then you can also make settings visible in Zoom and Teams. OBS virtual camera is pretty resource intensive though, so I don't recommend for Teams / Zoom unless you have a beast of a PC or you need the other effects, like graphics, intermission stills, lower thirds, etc.

Great video, does the Brio 500 work with Windows Hello?
Unfortunately, there is no IR camera for Windows Hello in that one. The original BRIO is the only Hello-supporting Logitech camera as far as I know. The Dell UltraSharp is another one I have with Hello support.

Both are good. I would say the Streamcam is a little more flexible with how it mounts for vertical video. The Brio 500 has newer internals and does top down shots.

No. As long as you adapt is to USB-A you should be fine.

I canot get my Logitech Capture to find this Brio 500 Camera. Any tips on that?
Based on this reddit post, it sounds like the Brio 500 isn't supported by Logi Capture www.reddit.com/r/logitech/comments/yh7wkg/logitech_capture_dont_detect_logitech_brio_500/ (I was never a fan of Logi Capture. It was always too slow and had no labels on the camera settings)
And what program you use when you do settings for this webcam?

Can you use the Brio 500 with an adapter to UBS C to USB A and have the same image quality?
There shouldn't be an impact on quality using a USB adapter, especially at 1080p. I use them all the time. Quality would only potentially get impacted if the USB A port doesn't have enough bandwidth to support data transfer. For example, USB 2.0 trying to transfer a 4K video will sometimes result in the camera going down to max resolution of 1920x1080 and disabling 4K.

Curious what wasn't working for desk view. Was it a hardware or software problem? That seemed pretty straightforward when you swivel the camera down.
I bought Bro 500 camera with all the features I wanted in a webcam. It was not balanced for a tripod, had a short cord and was completely useless, so I sent it back.
That's news to me. I can't see how it wouldn't be balanced on a tripod. It's very light and when you unscrew the bolt on the base, there is 1/4 20 threading for the tripod. Then it's basically a cylinder with the tripod mount in the middle. Cable is pretty standard length, but unfortunately fixed at the back and not removable like the Brio 4K. The Brio 4K is pretty finicky if you want to get 4K 30fps from it though, and in my case tends to really want the cable it came with, so even with Thunderbolt rated cables, it doesn't always go higher than 1080p 60fps.
Can it do vertical for tiktok streaming?
If you don't want to crop, you'd need and turn and edit it (rotate in post) from what I can tell.
Was there even any comment about the C920? I didn't see a single comparison with it.

No, it doesn't. Just the Brio 4k does from Logitech.

Nope. It has 30fps max at 1080p and 60fps max at 720p

@@yunus-champ the Razer Kiyo Pro I just purchased and reviewed did really well, especially at its price point. I paid $60 in November, but it's still under $100

It's a great camera. It does need a separate microphone. I wish I had the 4k60 Pro model to test.
