Jeez, guess I'm on a whole Wallie binge because I literally just finished the Goodies for the Bee video, currently watching the new Rax video, and now THIS. What a night haha
Amazing! I’m an avid antique and thrift store shopper and this looks like a very nice store. I’m still swooning over the Hill’s snack bar!!! This is far from me but I found them on IG & gave ‘em a follow to show support. 😊
Yeah it hit me in the feels to see the Hills snack bar in action sorta like the old days. I loved it! And yeah, this store is far from us here in Pittsburgh but it was worth making a weekend trip out of it.
Can't believe I missed that and i was in that booth on Sunday. And being a medina super k glass very nice. I did rescue some of the hot wheels. Definitely will be back In the future. What a place it was. Thanks for sharing
Really like this antique mall. I could spend all day in there too! I had one of those big ole wicker chairs. Love vintage. Thanks so much for sharing Wallie.
What awesome antique store! I'm a serious vinyl record collector. I would focus my attention to buying records at that store. Have an Hillslicious Day! Have an Ameslicious Day!
I worked in this store for a few weeks, I was softlines manager at store 117 Toledo - Central Ave. This was store 126. I remember the office manager entertaining me with her impression of home office employees calling: “Heh-woah, dis is da home aww-fuss cawling for Mr woo-dolph” It was originally built as a Hills, so the main office was upstairs behind those mirrored windows. I think the other Toledo stores were all Woolco conversions, stores 115-117.
Love your Hills hat. Hills was the best! Mention Hills to anyone in Pittsburgh and you never hear a bad word, just how much Hills is missed. Love the Hills counter in the Antique Mall. My Grandmother used to sit at the Hills counter and eat a hotdog with sauerkraut while I shopped.
Omg Wallie, love that snack bar. My mom worked in the HILLS snack bar in Lockport NY. That store looked just like it. She worked there in late 80s. Of course that store became an AMES and closed when AMES closed in 2002. The store was connected to the old Lockport Mall which was torn down to make way for the Super Walmart that now sits on the property. Nice video!
As a local I am able to often visit the Antique Mall. May I point out that "Maumee" is pronounced in two syllables ‘Mawh-me’ and not muh-Awe-me. The store owner’s rent space to independent dealers. 3. The place is located on US Rte. 20 Reynolds Road between the Ohio Turnpike and Dussel Drive. Six hundred yards south from the Antique’s Mall is Schlotzky’s where route 20 becomes Conant Street heading to the Maumee River and though Maumee the road is under construction as of this writing.
Yes! Very cool I miss Hills! Very cool hat and shirt!👍 We never left. Hills without stopping at the snack bar, I'll take a hot dog and nachos please...😂🌭🛒 I would spend waaay to much time in this store! Wow there is So much to see!
31:33 mark: If those were 8 track tapes, then that part of the shelf would so be me. I'd be cleaning the house right there. I love 8 track tapes the best. That's my favorite part of this video. I'm 40 years old (Born in 1984) and I love 8 track tapes.
Woo hoo near my house. There was a friendlly's out front as you suspected. There is also an abandoned Chi Chi's out front too. Welcome to Maumee (pronounced maw-mee lol). Keep up the great work!!
Nice find on that Super Kmart glass cup. Also I swore I seen you and Kayla driving in the bee friend in northeast Alabama last Saturday morning. Probably wasn’t though, probably just a man and a woman driving their yellow Pontiac G5 coupe out and about.
Absolutely loved this video. What an awesome find. I would love to go through there. I would be like you. I would spend hours and hours in there as well.
Wow!! I live about an hour from there & there used to be an Ames & a Hills here, too back in the mid 90's! Back then, I worked at the Hills that was here. I have a pic of myself in my red smock with one of my coworkers who was in costume as the Easter Bunny. As a matter of fact, I still have my Hills name tag!!! 😀
What an awesome find I worked in my grandmothers antique shop up in Canada when I was 12 and 13 and it was so exciting I love antiques I would go absolutely wild in there but I’d have to take one of those little carts around as I’m waiting To have a hip replacement and knee replacement but I had had to move in with my 83 year old dad who is dying of cancer and your videos have been such a comfort to me Wally and I’m on crutches and I had to take my hubby off life support in 2020 and I miss him so much because he was my rock just like you and Kayla together David and I were together like that too and I know you cherish each other like David and I did and I love your videos but I would go absolutely crazy in there and it looks like thatSanta Claus had some arthritis but anyway the videos just started so I’m gonna get back to it I just wanted to say hi from Salt Lake City
Awesome Wallie. I’ve been meaning to check this place out for awhile. The restaurant in front was definitely a Friendly’s and next to that was a Chi-Chi’s.
Yeah I recognized the Friendly's immediately. Wasn't worth doing a video because every window was boarded up. I was going to do the Chi Chi's but the weather was getting bad fast.
@@WallieB26 Believe it or not there use be Friendly's in Beaver Creek Ohio but that one end up got Closed and demolish and Panera bread went to where Friendly's was and that was one of Friendly's I went as kid back in my childhood days and no it did not Closed because of covid it was already closed before covid started but I do miss Friendly's plus I don't know anymore Friendly's that are open anymore.
as of Aug 2022 Friendly's and Chi-Chi's are not options. There are Frickers, Big Boy, Red Lobster, Fiesta (Mexican), Schlotzky’s, Ecore, Tony Packos, and Five Guys Hamburgers and other eateries in the neighborhood.
That's awesome. An antique mall inside a former Hills building. Too far away from me though. If I was there at the time of this video, I would've bought that other Kmart glass. I usually buy CDs, cassettes, records, 8 track tapes, movies, and video games in these flea markets. I miss Hills.
My Mom has that School building toy had it for really I mean really long time I have no idea how many years that she has it but it has been many years it is way more then I can remember but it is cool to see that in there 19:54
Ohh man I remember when that was a Hills and my family shoped there all the time... And there use to be a Chi-Chi's Mexican restaurant right down the way
At 33:07 I saw a picture that looked a lot like a picture my dad had of his ship he served on in WW2. I'd bet that it was drawn by the same guy. My brother has the picture now.
Wally I've been working but you've probably noticed my messages over the years, Did you notice the building in the front as a former friendly's ice cream? The other restaurant in that parking lot used to be a chi-chi's, Can't wait to watch this video when I get home from work!
I'm pretty sure this wasn't anything else between Ames and this since it looks like even the old Ames sign is still on the front of the building, just with the new name drilled over top of it. So strange haha.
That Centipede arcade machine with the Donkey Kong artwork around the screen was definitely NOT running Centipede. I guess that's one of those multicades that reused an old cabinet.
Jeez, guess I'm on a whole Wallie binge because I literally just finished the Goodies for the Bee video, currently watching the new Rax video, and now THIS. What a night haha
Same
Thanks for visiting the Toledo Ohio area
So good seeing new life in an old Hills/Ames instead of it wasting away to nothing. Great video!
I agree! And thank you!
At my local Ollie’s in Greenwood South Carolina they are using Old Ames shopping carts.
Amazing! I’m an avid antique and thrift store shopper and this looks like a very nice store. I’m still swooning over the Hill’s snack bar!!! This is far from me but I found them on IG & gave ‘em a follow to show support. 😊

Poor Santa he has arthritis!! Absolutely love the Hills gear. I soooo miss that store
Miss Hills for sure. Thanks for seeing all the goodies.
Can't believe I missed that and i was in that booth on Sunday. And being a medina super k glass very nice. I did rescue some of the hot wheels. Definitely will be back In the future. What a place it was. Thanks for sharing
Isnt that now being built up into a meijer

Wow, this place looks awesome! I love Ames/Hills just as much as you, so many great memories as a kid in the 80s and a teenager in the 90s.
Looks cool from the video I have to stop by if I’m in the Toledo Ohio area
Yes! Very cool I miss Hills! Very cool hat and shirt!👍 We never left. Hills without stopping at the snack bar, I'll take a hot dog and nachos please...😂🌭🛒 I would spend waaay to much time in this store! Wow there is So much to see!

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed.
I go to this antique mall a lot! It caught me by suprise to see you coming here wallie!
Your best video so far. Thanks a million
I love your G5 man. Yellow is my favorite color, as you can sort of tell by my avatar
Thank you! Yeah, I have always wanted a bright yellow car so it's neat how one just came to me. Haha I love that car too. It's fun as heck to drive.
6:57 I have one of those clocks! It has a very nice orange glow from the neon bulb inside it.
That's awesome!

I love the Hills/Ames vibes and that Kmart cup was a great find. What an awesome place!
thank you for this video!! I love antique malls so much but sadly we don't have one where I live.
We have a couple of little ones near where we live but nothing to the caliber of this one or any of the ones we have visited in Texas.
Excellent video...Have you ever visited Rose's in Lower Burrell, PA? It used to be Hills and Ames back in the day. Love your videos!
That was nice took Kayla at Ames Store.
wow so cool place's lots of things in there ty for showing this video :)

Yes you right the clock use to be at Friendly's back in the day
Great video, Wallie.
Awesome Wallie
I did indeed enjoy this video!
One of the things I miss about these old department stores is the music they used to play with the Rowe Customusic systems
Omg I need to make a trip out there one weekend.
I'd have to leave my wallet at home if I went there ...lol... cool video thanks for posting take care guys

#SAVETHEKMARTS
Awesome that the Customer Service sign was still in use, imagine still living in 2002.
At 33:07 I saw a picture that looked a lot like a picture my dad had of his ship he served on in WW2. I'd bet that it was drawn by the same guy. My brother has the picture now.
14:33-14:39 Hey look! A bright neon Patrick from SpongeBob!
That is the most excellent thrift store. I am jealous 😀

I am working rather
The Maumee Antique Mall Was A Cool Looking Mall.
Hay Wallieb26 there used to be a place like that in Versailles Kentucky I have no idea what old store it was in
I'm pretty sure this wasn't anything else between Ames and this since it looks like even the old Ames sign is still on the front of the building, just with the new name drilled over top of it. So strange haha.
Yo if u come to ironton u can explore Ames and hills but Buffalo Wild Wings takes some space
That Centipede arcade machine with the Donkey Kong artwork around the screen was definitely NOT running Centipede. I guess that's one of those multicades that reused an old cabinet.
1978 I was 6 years old
where i work used to be an antique mall too xD and if my father were still alive, he would go to town on that Coca Cola stuff :)
My grandma had the same Santa Clause. RIP.
What's the addy of this location? Much tb ks In advance.
The address is:
1552 S Reynolds Rd, Maumee, OH 43537

It's pronounced Mommy guys lol. Regardless great job with the video Wallie and Kayla!
no it not lol, I live outside of Maumee (maw-mee) :)
How dare you go to Schlotzskys without me!!!
Good afternoon
Impressive! But I better steer clear of this place. With that die cast car section, I'll deplete my savings account real quick!
I going guess the fire alarm and security alarm still say ames
Wallie you think the Super Kmart glass was cool you missed the A & W root beer mug on the same shelf as the second Super K.
Actually I know that the Pennsylvania state police actually had dodge Magnums I remember seeing one in grove city near the outlets
id go to that store only for the road signs 😭

4:17 so Santa's got arthritis or something? Poor guy I guess that's what happened after years of delivering presents to all the kids of the world.
When did the Ames open and close same as the hills.
Come to bowling Green ohio we have a dead mall except for thrift store's and a dunhams
Not the mama (dinosaurs)
I don't see a lot of antiques. Looks like a giant thrift store to me. Thanks you for doing this video, it saved me a long trip and disappointment.
Maumee is not pronounced that way.... (Mawmee).
I'm the baby, gotta love me. Not to momma
