I lived in London for almost 15 years, the major problem with London is the time it takes to get around in the city. It can take almost 40 minutes to get across the city.
Homelessness is all by design. I worked with the homeless, hiv, drug addiction and it a pattern from the street to jail, back to the street then back to jail. You wanna hear more ?
I was born/raised in St Thomas/London, raised my kids there too...moved away 11yrs ago to get away from the hustle and bustle- first Nova Scotia, now Newfoundland. You describe London very well- I had friends in each part of the city, and you hit it spot on (EOA, LOL). As home sick as I get from time to time, I cannot imagine ever moving back- it was chaotic a decade ago- now it's all twice as as much- no thanks for this old gal, I'll keep my memories of what it used to be....lovin my little ocean front property no mortgage, no car payment ;)
I grew up in London Ontario. I moved there in 1964. I left in 1978 to go away to college. I was just there 2 weeks ago. My favorite place to live. God Bless "The Forest City" ❤️
Between 1992 and 2006 I ran an in-town courier business. I used to call up the people at City Hall and begged them to tear up the CN and CP tracks and re-route them to south of the 401, except for the tracks that pass north/south at Adelaide and Commissioners, in case some train cars need to make it into downtown. The city admitted that that should have been done 50 years ago, but that it was too late now/then. They didn't like it when I brought up that they NEEDED to make Sunningdale an extension of Veteran's Memorial, the rich people on Sunningdale be damned. But the worst traffic in the city (other than the tracks downtown) is the northwest, especially Sarnia Rd to HP, to OX to Wond, where they allowed the tracks to ruin that subdivision as well..
The other London has a similar problem, especially south of the Thames, though the lines won’t be torn up as they carry intensive passenger services and apparently the residents hate bridges more.
Homeleas doubled cuz the damned rent is too high! Lived in london for all my life thus far. Been here for 23 years now. It's an interesting city. This guy hits the nail on the head.
Homeless tripled because other giant cities like Toronto literally bought them train tickets and sent them here, promising there was enough resources to help when there isn't.
Born in 92, lived in l9ndon until 8 years aho and have to say i do not regret moving awaym i live in vancouver now and ehile its ungodly expensive from the look and what ive geard from friebds and family i pay for rent almost the same as many of them or at times less if you live in the new ish areas noeth if the city ala masonville. 😅
I lived in Oakridge and then Proudfoot for the first 13 years in London. I am in Glen Cairn (southeast) for the past 14 years and I think it is a better area. More affordable housing, nice neighbourhoods and parks plus its easier access to the 401.
great work ryan i think homelessness problem is such a major issue , would definitely like more episodes talking about things other than real estate lol
I grew up 10min walk from downtown near old south and thrn moved to both the west and south sides of the city and ill be hobest they were nice. EOA is really real, yes there are nice neighborhoods but anyrhing near the western fair grounds is rough, down dundas and really most of dowbtown except immediately around bud gardens is basically trash
That's not even a joke. 6 different relatives from 6 different east-indian run jobs in this city hire almost exclusively within their race. And NONE of them know how to make a damn double double 😂
The serial killer thing is fact. Up to 1984 i believe, we were considered the serial killer capital of the world, housing more serial killers per populous than any other city.
I know this video is 2 months old but it should be noted that the homeless population is largely in part due to Toronto putting their homeless on a one way bus to Kitchener/Waterloo and then they bus them here. There is a current article about there being 350ish documented that have come from there. It is awful that a city would treat people like this. And London doesn't have the resources to help them.
Hey, you never talk about which neighborhoods to avoid due to the railroad running through them and the train noise. Any advise on this ? I assume avoid being near Sarnia road ?
So, unless your the street that backs onto the train tracks, you aren't going to hear much. As long are your one or two streets away you will be fine noise wise. The only exception would be if you live near the giant train yard at Egerton or the one by Adelaide. That might be a bit more noisy. Sarnia road has an overpass - so I wouldn't be too concerned about living near Sarnia road regarding trains.
@@Another-Address the indigenous were conquered. It's not longer their land. Not too mention Canada wasn't a country when they were running around killing each other. Protestant Europeans made this land a country
LOL, I rarely go east of Adelaide. Once in a while I like to go to Forest City Surplus and a Dutch store, but the dumpiness of the area never attracted me. It's very peaceful near the Elsie Perrin Williams Estate.
I noticed a massive increase in house listings in the city. But the median price is down almost 10% from last year. Any idea what's going on? Something I should know as a home-owner?
With the interest rates rising, the average price is starting to decline. It has dropped two months in a row. As for the number of listings - they aren’t t being sold quite as quickly so there is a bit more inventory out these right now.
Hey Ryan, loved your video on this topic. Im orginally from North York specifically Jane and Finch neighborhood so when I got the opportunity to go full remote I just had to take the chance and buy in London because as they say, "keep on driving till you qualify" Can I ask what are your thoughts on Pond Mills and Commissioners area.(closer to where the plaza with TD is) I moved here and so far I like it.
London is horrible. I grew up there, left in the mid 90's. It used to have more millionaires per capita than any other city in Canada,.but that was a long time ago. London is kind of like east Vancouver in way. Where theres a weird mentality that doesnt make sense to those not from there, but makes peefect sense to those who are. Its almost like it has its own culture thats kind of broken. But the people there will chalk it up to, like aww everywher has crike and violence and whatnot. Butnits really not the case on that scale or geenrral dispositionsl towards thatbtype of stuff. Theres a reason East Vancouver was rhe example I used lol. Its the onoy thing comparable ive seen in Caanada
Does anyone know any area in Ontario that doesn't really have a lot of East Indians? Obviously, Mississauga and Brampton are write-offs. But what about elsewhere? I think Hamilton and Waterloo are gone. Anyone? Any help? Not trying to sound racist at all, just seriously want to know where I can go and they're not a majority. Thank you!
The way these absolute half-wits on council raise your housing takes on ridiculous police budgets is sickening…never move to this city while Josh Morgan has anything to do with it…he does nothing but spend frivolously

Same here, born in Glanworth and moved to Belmont. 53 years later, moved to Sussex NB. Love it here and can't see me and my family ever going back.
Sitting here watching this video as I listen to sirens. Seems like i hear sirens every 30 minutes.

It does, Oxford and Richmond. Value Mart

Ok Mr. Unskilled labourer, do you know why this country is called a melting pot? Moron?
Which area is better for living? Talbot vs Longwoods? Several upcoming and new build houses in both these areas for around 700-700k.
Both are nice, but i'm more partial to Talbot
New build in Talbot is not 700k

Rent everywhere in Ontario is getting very high. Are you a renter or landlord? Your over 2000/month for a decent neighbourhood in London
