Solid!! I agree it does cast better! Do you cast knots through your guides? I have without problems but want this to last so I mix it up with sometimes shorter leader 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Congrats on your first Zenaq. I have that model and run a Twin Power SW 8k on it which I feel is the perfect size reel. The RG guides make casting so smooth and it practically eliminates wind knots and guide wrap during the cast. I use a 5 and 6k Stella on my Sonio 100M RG model which is the rod size right below the 100H. I cast FG knots through the RG guides with no issues. Just make sure to keep the knot close to the stripper guide on the cast because that ring is small on the RG system.
That’s awesome to know! Yeah the 6k makes the rod feel a little top heavy. I plan on using it until I can maybe get a TWP 8k. Thanks for the tips. What is the biggest leader you have cast with it? Do you cast with not between first and second guide or under first. I plan on running pe 4 to 80 pound leader for now. Thanks! 🙏🏼 🤙🏼
@@lowkeyfrankd I normally run 80lb mono leader with the 100H but have 100lb for the spots with lots of obstacles. For the knot placement, you should be fine as long as its right at the bottom (stripper) guide or above it. I keep it at the stripper or an inch or two below to maximize my leader length. Reason being the line comes off your spool in bigger loops and the small ring on the stripper guide forces those loops into a straight line quickly, so there is minimal friction going through the rest of the guides. If you keep the knot closer to your reel or in the spool, the knot will get damaged from hitting the stripper on every cast. You will also feel and hear the knot hitting the ring.

They are definitely affordable but I only have used the 5k. Were you recommending the 6k Stella for the 100h? Thanks for the comment! 🙏🏼🤙🏼
Nice video quality! I own the sonio, accura H and HH. I would strongly recommend getting an 8/10k size reel for the H. I have a 6k certate on my sonio and that fits perfectly. On the accura H I use a “15 saltiga 5k and on the HH I have a 14k saltiga. All set ups are RG and they are all fantastic rods. You will enjoy it very much! Here in Europe we mainly do shore jigging and occasionally hard bait stuff. I have fished small hardbaits like a tide minnow with the accura H on occasion and weirdly enough it worked better than expected.
Thanks so much for the compliment! Means a lot! And thanks for the tips as you have quite the Zenaq lineup! I totally agree with you. I have used my saltiga 6k with the acurra H and while it does work it’s not as balanced as it could be. My 6k works better on my M tirelejo which has similar specs as the sonio but not as nice and no RG’s. I plan on getting an 8k (most likely twin power). I am super impressed with how well the RG casts. I can’t wait for the 8k and the chance to hook up to something nice! Thanks for the comment! 🙏🏼🤙🏼
The more i read up on it the more i'm understanding the technology. Some places on the South side on Oahu i can't whip because of wind knot issues if the winds are +15mph. It's the angles involved. Seems this style of guide placements might eliminate this issue. Very interesting. TY!
I have the same problem on north shore Maui. It is very windy most of the time. At first I thought the extra guides were overkill but this definitely out performs my other rods. It casts better and I have not had any wind knots. It’s a great rod!
I got mine second hand from EBay/ Japan. It was never used and a great deal. It was a gamble to buy unseen but it’s flawless. Cheaper but you gamble also with warranty. Stoked you got one! I was going to get from Tomos they are reliable with decent shipping. No shops have them on Maui but if I lived Oahu I would go Charley’s. Thanks!! 🙏🏼🤙🏼
I’m running a Saltiga 8000H with Pe:4 and 100Lb fluorocarbon Leader on my Acura 100H. With about 1500mm leader hanging out of the first guide and I pendulum cast my lures. Works well and casts a mile.
That’s awesome to know it can handle! Do you ever have issues with the fg not biting down on the fluro? I feel it bites the mono way better but I guess it depends if you are fishing top water. Also 100 pound fluro probably has a little more meat to it. I had an issue in the past running 30 braid to 50 fluro with the fg Thanks! 🙏🏼🤙🏼
Congrats on one of the best rods out there (Accura 100H Type R owner here). Regarding the reel, 23Saltiga 6k is excellent reel but it's more appropriate for Sonio than Accura. As you mentioned, 8-10k is more better/balanced choice (having 20Saltiga 8k on my Zenaq). Wishing you some good fights with this rod...
Right on! Congratulations on the Type R! That is even a step up in my opinion. Agreed on the 8k being the sweet spot. It’s interesting because Tomos had it recommended reel size 6-14k but they just recently changed there recommendations to 8-10 k. A bit top heavy with the 6 but I’ll use it in the meantime Can never have enough rod and reels lol Thanks!! 🙏🏼 🤙🏼
