It's because it has to be sideloaded and not come from an app store (Blackberry World and Amazon App store) Other 3rd party clients either are limited to just viewing or may have upload capabilities but will most likely be broken when a new official update from Instagram comes along. Your average user isn't going to sideload an android app nor trust a 3rd party client.
mickey rouke i agree i have had a bb passport for 6 months now and the app gap does not exist is you understand that most packages on google play store are android package , blackberry has been able to run .apk's since 10.2.1 check out the article on crackberry crackberry.com/how-install-android-app-apk-blackberry
To show the numeric keypad, just swipe down, with one finger, on the physical keyboard - press the corresponding key on the physical keyboard - you don't need to touch the screen at all!
Use the physical kb more to scroll and use shortcuts, no need for scrolling the browser with your fingers on the screen. T for top, B for bottom, use spacebar to scroll down, hold spacebar for continous scrolling. Assign keys for certain actions. No access to Instagram??? Wrong. I've been using the Passport 6 months now and you're bit off on so many levels. I assume you've not used a BB 10 device or Passport in particular for very long now.
Hello just to respond back. 1. The point of a touch screen is to touch it lol. I know of the keyboard shortcuts but one of the big features is the touch screen so using it make sense. You may way to watch the whole video to see where I mentioned using the keyboard to scroll. 2. Instagram is not available in the Amazon App store nor the Blackberry World store. You can sideload but doesn't not make it officially available and most customers will not be sideloading. 3. I've other BB 10 devices so it is not new to me. The OS is ok but not where it should be and there is a learning curve if you are switching from another smartphone or a non BB 10 Blackberry.
BWOne I learned all the gesture's in 3 days and once you learn its way more superior than IOS & Android IMO! I have have both platforms lollipop & IOS 8 (iPad,Nexus 7,nexus5,iphone6) but I always end up on my BB. It just wants to be used as to were my other devices feel boring and not innovative enough. BB Hub defeats them both and that's just getting started on features. The design is unique and I always get "what kind of phone is that"
Just recent got my Passport SE. What an amazingly nag device with a battery that last and last! Works great and can use if needed Android apps. Plus such amazing sound with dual very powerful speakers. All around a great productivity device!
If google bought blackberry and turn it as a business phone line for android with high security line, I would swear I will be a loyal customer till the day I die
Anyone has a problem with bluetooth headset connection? Mine keeps on dropping connection and kept on searching devices while connected to a device. I don't have problem connecting the same wireless headset to my other phone.
Hi there. I'm a bb fan and can't wait to get my new bb passport... but.. did you just say I won't be able to install/use Instagram with it?? I currently have a bb Q10 and was able to install Instagram by downloading a file, sending it by e-mail and then installing it into the device (found the 'how to' online). Thanks for your help!
hi.... i want to ask one question ... actually it's not one aT ALL any way ... when i saw lg g2 camera specification i saw that lg g2 better in the camera than lg g3 so here is my question is lg g3 in the camera features better than lg g2 and ... one thing more could you please make a review ABOUT lg g3 camera and compare it with lg g2 thanks bro :D
Avery Liu backup the unit with blackberry link and then restore the factory settings to the device it will reset all functionality with the battery, I had to do that and i ended up getting 3 day battery life after
Really, huh, it's defiantly just you because BlackBerry OS 10.3.2 is extremely easy to use. Sure, there's a small learning curve but every OS has one. Basically what I'm saying is, your either not the sharpest Crayola in the box or your making an assumption based on these review videos, which is also not really an intelligent thing to do. How about actually using the device for a couple of weeks before making silly comments.
Switching from iOS to BlackBerry 10 is chalk and cheese... I thought iOS was so simple and a pleasure to use, but with the updates came more complications making it feel more complex than it needs to be... the iOS is trying to pack in a combination of every OS.... but it has failed and made me move away... the BlackBerry 10 is just so fluent with the swiping to and from apps and that genius HUB... switching back to iOS is simply a nightmare that I don't need... BlackBerry 10 doesn't need anything more, maybe an undo option, but the rest is just a joy to use :)
I wonder if buying this phone ( silver edition) is still a good option? or should I wait to the Rome and the other new phones of blacberry that are comino out soon? I really like that this phone has a lot of accesories and it is really productive! no fb no whatsapp, not a lot of game options and comfortable web browsing. Maybe it has problems with the wid of the screen ( square) but i like it... so ... what are your toughts so far?
The Facebook browser option works just fine. There's another Facebook client but honestly I like the browser version better. It allows to have not one but two Whatsapp accounts working at 100%. This phone is beautiful, and super productive. Outstanding battery life and virtually indestructible screen. I hope I can keep it at least until 2019. Now they've even updated the OS. The success rate of Android apps running is very high. I have a PRIV as a backup phone. Having two phones gives me many other options, but a regular user with the Passport is very well covered.
Juan P Diaz R how do you run two what's app accounts? I am going to get this device soon... but I can really do with that feature on my phone. please provide details of how this is done.. thanks
Joanne Lewis the native version received extended support until June 30/2017, and the Android version works flawlessly, in fact I am using that one as primary. Very important to mention that it does not kill your battery, as the existing Android similar workarounds.
+Abinayan Emanu good question! so BWone, the passport then doesn't need the BIS therefore umm you won't need that blackberry icon on the upper right of the screen? coz i have a Q10 and i had my carrier do something so that i can get internet service on...
Could hardly make out what you were saying. Terrible sound quality - perhaps, next time you could position an external microphone in front of you so you are facing it. ??
Don't be so obtuse, there are many reasons why some would want a Passport. The system is secure, quick, since it's RTOS, Real Time Operating System it multitasks like no other mobile OS on the market, has a keyboard which is still important to a lot of people, the BlackBerry Hub is just absolutely friggen awesome and is really all the reason you need but I'll continue, you can stream a movie to your TV and play Modern Combat 5 at the same time, is a fantastic communications device, the list just goes on and on and on. Absolutely blows away the iPhone in terms of system functionality.
Blackberry devices are very secured. No problem getting you're social media hacked. You're mobile banking and emails are secured.
why does every reviewer say that you can't get instagram on BlackBerry. I've had it since 10.2
It's because it has to be sideloaded and not come from an app store (Blackberry World and Amazon App store) Other 3rd party clients either are limited to just viewing or may have upload capabilities but will most likely be broken when a new official update from Instagram comes along. But I got mine from the app store 1Mobile Market and it works fine. Never did a side load
mickey rouke That app itself has to be sideloaded on as it's android based. Your carrier may have installed it for you but its not native to BB.
That's true. I just want people to know that it's not entirely impossible to get the basic apps like Instagram on BlackBerry.
mickey rouke i agree i have had a bb passport for 6 months now and the app gap does not exist is you understand that most packages on google play store are android package , blackberry has been able to run .apk's since 10.2.1 check out the article on crackberry

What is it like as a PHONE? What's it like for data handling (documents, spreadsheets etc? Too much was missed from this review.
The space bar actually can act as a shutter release as I have seen on other videos.
To show the numeric keypad, just swipe down, with one finger, on the physical keyboard - press the corresponding key on the physical keyboard - you don't need to touch the screen at all!
I have the google play store on mine. The gestures are a breeze once you learn.
Use the physical kb more to scroll and use shortcuts, no need for scrolling the browser with your fingers on the screen. Im excited just ordered my 2nd Blackberry Passport. Got the ATT version. Beautiful phone!
I do like the BB Passport. The only problem is that am only willing to pay
Is the keypad color white or blue??
Is blackberry passport good for music i mean bass
Jesus what camera do you use, thats amazing.
He didn't metiong the "time shift" feature for the camera.
Interesting device. But in 2019 with no app support its not much more than a paper weight.
a laptop in your hand
I'm really enjoying mine!
Aw, I want the rounded corners version of the BlackBerry Passport. I bought one in Australia and it has square corners. :(
And Luke, I want the square corner version. Lol
Is it even still usable/viable in 2019? Seems like support for the passport is hanging by a thread these days
I don't know if I should get this. My Samsung S4 is kind of old now but this seems like the phone I need
Very good video, I am interested by this square format.
Just recent got my Passport SE. What an amazingly nag device with a battery that last and last! Works great and can use if needed Android apps. Plus such amazing sound with dual very powerful speakers. All around a great productivity device!
Is there any problems regarding heating issues in bb passport, I really wanted to buy in 2018 till may....plz email me....
which model is this?
If google bought blackberry and turn it as a business phone line for android with high security line, I would swear I will be a loyal customer till the day I die
So...go get the blackberry priv! I've abandoned android for BlackBerry 10 and I'm not going back though.

Christian Wong u can modify it put a good processor in it

Avery Liu
backup the unit with blackberry link and then restore the factory settings to the device it will reset all functionality with the battery, I had to do that and i ended up getting 3 day battery life after
I'll try
Avery Liu Get an anti virus and do a virus scan. Virus on your phone can drain your batteries.
Good job on the review, I'm ordering this phone next month!
BB come back. You are original.
Mike D Scott BBB complaint filed August 29, 2017
I find blackberry os to be very complex to use especially compared to android or ios
ive used all extensively and bb to me is simpler you can do more with less steps
Al Moon said it best you do more in less steps.
+Chaztastic Horton BB OS is definitely easier than Android. iOS is a nice system, but very restrictive.

the best thing about #Passport is their design

Oh so both android and blackberry versions work at the same time, interesting. Thanks for the info
Is Blackberry internet plan required or can we use our regular 4G/3G or Wifi Networks?

+Advait B Detha yeah i had it face10 but i don like it..i want the fb apps in android with messenger

DavisRaylerVEVO im so sad thag mine broke, im getting another this week and bb10 really is the best ever made.
Am I able to set a password?
BB security is so good you can actually unlock your phone in front of someone and they will never guess your password.
If only they make this smaller
Could hardly make out what you were saying. Terrible sound quality - perhaps, next time you could position an external microphone in front of you so you are facing it. ??

Ontario human rights tribunal complaint submitted against BlackBerry Nov 1, 2017
Nice
Blackberry 10 OS is gonna come back one day.
why does it look so small other videos it was big
Because his hands are so huge :D
That doesn't seem like a bad phone my iPhone is awful battery dies in 5 hours, low storage space .. That might be my next phone lol
I would give a passport a try if it wasn't so overpriced for what it is.
thanks for sharing! good video, to-the-point (without the wandering jibber-jab).. good job
From bold4 l used Instagram bb10 get it all
I really think people cant understand you when you mumble
So, basically, there no good reasons to own a passport.

No.
There's no reason to want one
faltu mobile
Ugliest phone ever ! I'm worried about your taste mate.
+Night Club It has a unique look that stands out. Got to give it credit for that.

Huh, dude, get a better translation program also curved displays are a gimmick with zero productive value.
No.
