I love this game, not only because the horror is actually pretty good, but because it's genuinely challenging. It's not one of those super-linear games that has no replay value, and it seems like the devs really took time to flesh out each ending.

Her Dad is the one dead because of her heroin addiction, he went looking for her and something happened.
If you search the apartment at the start, you can find two sobriety coins (for the hanging Rebecca. Place them in her hands)
And a pendant with a cross (for when her dad shows up on the exam table. Place it on his chest).
Idk what the sobriety coins do, but on Jack's playthrough he got the closure ending by just placing the necklace on the dad. I've yet to see anyone actually use the coins.

@@ShittyShittyGameGang I've seen other playthroughs where they say to give the coins to the hanging lady in the hallway, and they don't know what the necklace is for. So, either way works, I guess. Depends which scene you randomly get.
@@ShittyShittyGameGang the coins do the same thing as the necklace but you give it to the hanging version of rebecca in the hallway so she doesn't burst into flames
basically there's a chance you only get one of the two events (hanging rebecca and dead dad on the gurney) during a run (or if you mess up one you still have the chance if the other one shows up) and you only need to do one of them to get the 5th ending. Having all three memento items with you in the mortuary is great for this

So if you want the right body, ya gotta check them for marks again *after* embalming them, they'll look like little tattoos or scars that look like upside down crosses or random new claw marks

I've gotten myself to feel so sick while watching 😭 all because I'm so used to eating while watching mark jack and ethan. But eating while watching this is. NOT a good idea. And yet I keep doing it
Sure it has good scares, but the real horror is the sewing of mouths, the big needles in stomachs and the tubes in the necks of these dead people

Every time Eef moved past the safe in the bottom cupboard I wanted to scream. The lore!! He is missing the Lore!!
From what I've experienced after playing/watching this a few times is that there are a couple clues that really give away which body you want burn. Having the corpse smile, having the body already pulled out of its cold storage, and multiple hallucinations involving the body seem to be the most reliable. After major haunting events you'll sometimes hear a paper rustling sound which indicates a new sigil is spawned somewhere.
Also the event where only one of the cold storage doors is slamming itself indicates which body is possessed. I think it only happens if you don’t have that body out of storage at the time.
From what i can understand, the ways to know who is the correct body:
-The body that moves THE MOST; because in this case two of them move, but one of them was more active than the other
-Yes, scratches are a good sign, but ONLY if they appear AFTER you already examined that body, the scratches that tell you it is the correct body appear AFTER you are already done with them.
-Signs that DONT count (i think) are: if a body appears as an hallucination, if his door randomly gets slammed over and over again (because sometimes a door with no one in it does that, so im guessing the game chooses a random door to slam)
This is only stuff that i gathered from gameplays i saw, i havent played the game to confirm it (too scared to do it lol)
I thought all scratches could count as long as it’s not the ones you put into the computer as those ones are different? Cuz I believe you can find demonic symbols the first time examining them as well and I just assumed they work the same way. Unless the symbols also only show up after the body has already been examined and I’m just remembering wrong lol.
Apparently another sure-fire way to figure out which is the right body is to use the cremation bags in the morgue to gather ash from the crematorium, place it on whichever body you suspect is the right one and set the ash on fire with the match in the lobby. It'll generate a sigil of one of the houses of hell, and if it's the one that matches the house of the demon that's possessing you, that's the right body.
another way to tell if it’s the right body is to see if it’s smiling even when the mouth is stitched closed.
The two you have listed under “don’t count” have always been reliable for me. I played this game a LOT
I think Antony might have been the body to go for, he was the one that appeared at the end of the hall when Yon's body was pretzelfied on the gurney--*and* his door was the only one that slammed open and shut.

Y'all the other dude literally started talking to him when he put the mark on him, and that's when the dramatic music kicked in too. He was definitely the one.
I was just yelling for him to take yon to the exam room and look for marks...
I also remember Jack had a situation where he chose wrong because the demon faked him out by slicing up one of the other bodies....

Yes, unfortunately once you hear that music start to ramp up that means you are about to be possessed, so you gotta get the body with the Mark on it and burn it before it fully ramps up. And body manipulation, if the body contorts and points at stuff, starts lifting off the gurney and speaks demon stuff, YUP that's the one lol!
Also, I too thought it was a boyfriend the first gameplay I saw, but once you play through it enough you realize it's her dad. Check the apartment for the necklace and sobriety coins to get a different ending! (You will have to use them for the ending to trigger)
I’m sure you were mindlessly talking but when you mentioned the acne & it being nothing to be embarrassed about, I stopped what I was doing to listen-

I also know that you might not be a fan of being reminded of your past struggles with acne, but… I first found your account prior to your acne treatment and it also meant a lot to see someone with acne like I had who was still loved, and not necessarily in a “yeah you got acne, but I can look past that” type of way, but in a “acne or no acne doesn’t matter” type of way.
So… I guess thank you for everything, and for (unknowingly) helping me through more than just my own struggles with acne.
(Btw… if you or anyone else reading this with ADHD haven’t tried it yet and still looking for ADHD medication… Vyvanse is pricy but you can try it for at least the first three months for a fraction of the cost, and they should be coming out with a generic version by next year or so, and it worked wonders for me when it came to time management, organizing my thoughts, emotional regulation… pretty much all of the “non-physical” ADHD traits)

Fun (?) Fact. The eye caps are barbed. They are spikey so when you pull the eyelids over them the eyelids are slightly impaled in order to keep them in place ^-^
Can confirm. Same for the mouth cap, for when the lips won't stay closed.
Also, yes that is one of the ways to wire the jaw shut.

Also, pay attention to the visions. The bigger dude in the middle appeared in the visions, so it's likely him. You can carry the letting strips around while doing your normal tasks, so you shouldn't need to keep stopping to look around for sigils. Lastly, the guy that Rebecca feels guilty about dying is her dad, not boyfriend :3

Idk if this is true for others but in my playthroughs the demon kept telling me when I did something wrong. Literally, he’ll say “you’re wrong, you know.” I learned to listen for the “this won’t fix anything Rebecca” voice line bc every time the demon says that I’ve survived
TLDR: Ethan your gut instinct was right when you put the mark on body 3 initially (forgot his name already lmao, but it was the skinny dude who kinda looked like Rebecca’s dad)
Sometimes the demon will tell you you’re wrong even if you’re right. It’s not a reliable indicator

The end of the game wasn't one of the 5 endings, it was basically the equivalent of a death cutscene since you took too long. When the music starts doing that it's a warning that you need to get the correct body and name and burn them right away :)

I could not play this game for my life, watching it is okay, is interesting, but its to much tension for me to be playing myself, i would have an anxiety attack.

I love the white demon I find him adorable and I named him Snowball but his nickname is Marshmallow
that carving noise after any major event (like at 5:33) is the demon putting a sigil just walk around the paper thing and you'll find one. also, at the beginning of every shift there is always one. the code for the keypad is 197044, and if you think you found the possessed body there is a match box in the office area on a small table, grab those and go grab ashes from the cremation thing the bags will be behind the door, then you put the ashes on the body you think it is and lit it with the match it'll show 1 of 3 houses if it shows the right one then that's the correct body if it doesn't then it's a different body. you only get one chance with that but it's very useful. also, I like to find 3 sigils then look on the computer to get the third it's very easy. hope this helps you (there's also a key under some paper in one of the personal draws like where your access card is hint: basement).

check the wrists of each body for a symbol, or if you see them get scratched on their stomachs on the table that’s the body you have to burn. If your unsure take out each body and check their wrists it should show up. (or burn the one thats most active for the body actually moving not stuff happening around it, that one usually has it anyway) the nightshift database has example pictures!

Oh!! And the Night Shift database also explains the white dude, and the creepy girl and shadow man. It's in a section about "smaller haunts" or the like. Basically, those aren't the demon itself, but they help the demon take possession by scaring the living daylights out of you. I dunno what it is about the white dude that makes him even creepier than the reanimated corpses, but he is!

You have to see if the demonic marking with the three circles from the information guide on the computer appears when they weren't there before, pay close attention! so the ashes only really help you identify the house of the demon, if you had 3 sigil that match under 2 houses; the ashes will help there (in which case you need the box of matches from the office desk). You're looking for demonic marking/slices to identify the body, once you have that use ashes and if you have 3/4 of the sigils that only link to one name you can speed run the night as you have the body, house and name sorted

I don't know if you're going to play again, I can't tell if you're enjoying it or not, but some tips if you do:
Identifying the right body is the hardest part, and the demon will try to trick you. For example, sometimes when you place the mark on a body, it will say, "Are you sure this is the right one?" The demon will say this whether you've chosen correctly or not, it's just to confuse you.
That said, one way to be sure (from the playthroughs I've seen so far) is to put the mark on the body, WAIT a moment (you kept picking it right up!) and if it's the right one, slashes will start appearing suddenly on the body.
Also, the one that stalks you in the bathroom or hallway is usually the right body.
I've seen one player figure out that if you get ashes from the retort (collected with the nearby cremation bags), and that single match from the front room, you can spread ashes on the abdomen of one of the bodies, then light the ashes with the match and it will reveal one of the three Halls of Hell. Whether or not this is always the correct hall the demon comes from is unclear to me, but if it matches the symbol you scribble on the pad, that's gotta be the right hall.
You can also grab your dad's necklace and your sober chip from your apartment at the beginning of the game, you need one of these to get the "closure" ending.
Oh, and there's also the lady in the basement, but they didn't give you any of the clues in either playthrough to have found her yet.

If you get the matches, cremation bag, and ashes from the retort, you can put the ashes on a (any) body and light them with the match, and it will tell you the house or Hell the demon is from. So if you already have 3 sigils, that'll tell you what the last sigil is.

I noticed that when you put the mark on the bodies, they usually start talking. The fact that he missed the body and ran out of time is crazy to me because it was so obvious 🤦🏻♀️ I almost had a thing when he forgot to put the mark on the body the first playthrough and now I’m shocked that he failed again 🤡
