All those lovely transitions from straights to curves and back to straights... is it only me who loves the geometry of rails? Sure wish we could have DMUs that would allow passengers that same view over the shoulders of the driver... like the first generation DMUs!
I remember when they singled this track in the 80s and it immediately causing a huge bottleneck, and now they've had to spend millions to re-double it. Amazingly short-sighted penny pinching.
Russ. Tried to follow on Google earth as I do. I'm from Oz. Judging by the junctions ( to the right near start and coming from right near end) is this journey Wrexham to Chester?
No. it's Chester to Wrexham. The first junction are the lines heading towards Birkenhead. The second junction near Wrexham are the lines from Bidston, which is near to Birkenhead.
Nice video Russell, When was this video shot and What Train company did you go on when you filmed this video? Was it Virgin Trains or another company. By the way I enjoyed watching. Thanks. :)
Oh ok. I have done some research into this route and now I have found out and heard that they have now built a new train right next door to the other track. So now instead of one train going down the single track at a time. They can now have more than one train run both directions which in my opinion is now good and useful.

A Kiwi here, very nice vid, love watching these UK cab rides
Excellent video - strange that they're appears to be "missing stations" for some of the rural developments?

Exellent Video.
Great vid. Do you have 'Wrexham General to Chester' and 'Chester to Holyhead' available at all?
Dear Russel, may I ask you if you have any footage or photos of Railway Terrace in Rhosmedre ?
I hope you don't mind me asking. Kind regards, Peter
Is this double track all the way now? There is talk of building a station at Lache.
It is between Saltney Junction and Rossett then single track until Wrexham
Any idea which part of this line is being re-doubled?
Saltney Junction to Rossett. About 7 miles.
