I believe Dexter series wouldn't feel Dexter without Daniel Licht's music. Whenever I hear his music I instantly go back to that Dexter atmosphere. Funny thing, when I first played Dishonored, I felt something familiar, and to my surprise I found out that Licht wrote the soundtrack to this game series.

This theme is art. Dexter is my favorite show, watched three times. It's the show that gave me more emotions, dealt with every expect of humanity. I loved to see the evolution and the mind of a psychopath, I loved his thoughts. Dexter had an amazing acting, directing, photography, writing and music. I see Dexter, the whole show, as a journey. A journey in the mind of a disturbed man until the end. Being alone, destroyed about what you did to everyone who loved you.
I love that this theme just made a comeback with Dexter: New Blood. Instant chills. This is even more Dexter than the intro theme of the original series.
I feel like Dexter teaches everyone something about themselves. And that you everyone is hiding something. This by far has been the best show experience I’ve ever had, and I doubt anything can top it. I love this fucking show, 2nd time watching, and yes lots of effort for this comment😂😂

But the ending was like, okay Debra dies and won't have kids, Dexter's just gonna become some old hermit logger in the middle of nowhere, leaving his family in South America, his brain is gonna be completely wasted, his son will grow up without a father, he won't ever see anyone from Miami Metro again, he will have a lonely rest of his life.. I could go on all day, and as good as shows like "Lucifer" & "Dexter are, (personally) I don't think they're really deserving of the title of "Better Than Everything Else" ... I mean "Dexter" Season 8 - Episode 12 "Remember the Monsters?" (all by itself) fucked Dexter out of that particular bracket lol. It's a damn shame too, because otherwise, y'know, if they'd actually done a *Good* job on the story, writing, character development/arc's, etc., "Dexter" could have, *Very Easily*, held that particular achievement about it's head . . but . . such is not the way shit went down. Damn good show (for the first half, while steadily getting worse and worse after the half-way point of the series) for sure!! It DEFINITELY had potential, but ... we saw what they did with 'that', now didn't we? And, Lucifer is still airing. It could *very easily*, at this point, fall victim to the exact same fate as "Dexter", so ... we'll have to wait and see......and even then, Lucifer is... y'know, 'Pretty good', but.... Like, I think it's awesome, personally, but ... I recently finished watching Dexter over the summer and although the ending I feel could be better executed - no pun intended, it was the perfect finale that exemplified the answer Dexter had been looking over all the seasons. So in my opinion if each season can be summed in one word, this is my shot. Season 1: Ascension Season 2: Fear Season 3: Curiosity Season 4: Arrogance Season 5: Compassion Season 6: Inevitability Season 7: Denial Season 8: Acceptance

The only one I can't understand is Ascension. I mean shouldn't that one also be curiosity? Since Rudy really intrigued him? Hell maybe season three should be called experiment. That's what Miguel was after all.
I think the first season is ascension as dexter feels lifted through the season. He finds a friend and someone who finally understands him. He has to kill him and that elevates him even more. It's the first time he kills to save debra and really doesn't want to kill his brother. Yet he does, he also feels a sense of accomplishment towards the end of the season like he could be accepted. Season three is where by chance his life becomes more 'normal'. He's curious if he can have a friend, a family, his own children, a wife etc.
First time watching the series, almost finished season 2 so far. I think this song is fit and timed PERFECTLY in the show, I get goosebumps every time it hits.
Man, the thing I love about this song is that over time if you listen to it during all of the biggest moments it plays throughout the series (especially the finale) you can hear it deteriorate over time, and that just amazes me so much. I love Dexter, Micheal C. Hall, everyone involved with the show and especially the Music Composer and Directors.
Is is one of very few songs that does more than just give me chills. This song actually deeply disturbs me on a visceral level. Like, it really upsets me on the inside. It's strange. It could induce nightmares in me even without the context of a show about serial killers.

Stephen Martell Not really, a better ending would have been dedicating the whole season back to the capture of Dexter. The last season should be where everyone's doubts come to fruition, where they after all realize that Dexter is a serial killer. In the end, showing that eventually you will get caught. The writers of the first 4 seasons intended on doing just that. The end would be Dexter getting prepared to face the death penalty, while seeing everyone he has hurt and manipulated in his life watching him. Now that would have been a better ending.
I'm still obsessed with this show and this theme. so many years later and I still think about it. it really left a mark on my soul I think. I feel like I'm still so entwined and in love with the characters. I don't think it's possible for me to ever fully move on.

It could *very easily*, at this point, fall victim to the exact same fate as "Dexter", so ... we'll have to wait and see......and even then, Lucifer is... y'know, 'Pretty good', but.... Like, I think it's awesome, personally, but ... I know lot's of people (so far) that think it's rubbish ..which, kind of surprised me to find that that was how most people (I interact with, at least) felt about it. I looked it up and Rotten Tomatoes gave the series a 49% approval rating, with an average rating of 5.2/10 based on 35 reviews, and I like how whoever came up with Rotten Tomatoes consensus of the show said:
"Lucifer's got sex appeal, but the show's hackneyed cop procedural format undermines a potentially entertaining premise."
...of which, I'd have to agree with :/

I recently finished watching Dexter over the summer and although the ending I feel could be better executed - no pun intended, it was the perfect finale that exemplified the answer Dexter had been looking over all the seasons. So in my opinion if each season can be summed in one word, this is my shot.
Season 1: Ascension
Season 2: Fear
Season 3: Curiosity
Season 4: Arrogance
Season 5: Compassion
Season 6: Inevitability
Season 7: Denial
Season 8: Acceptance
Quote that describes the ending: "I like to pretend I'm alone. Completely alone. Maybe post-apocalypse or plague... Whatever. No-one left to act normal for. No need to hide who I really am. It would be... freeing. "
I think, from what I've seen from Season 2, "Apprehension" is a better word. Imo, of course.
The only one I can't understand is Ascension. I mean shouldn't that one also be curiosity? Since Rudy really intrigued him? Hell maybe season three should be called experiment. That's what Miguel was after all.
I think the first season is ascension as dexter feels lifted through the season. He finds a friend and someone who finally understands him. He has to kill him and that elevates him even more. It's the first time he kills to save debra and really doesn't want to kill his brother. Yet he does, he also feels a sense of accomplishment towards the end of the season like he could be accepted.
Season three is where by chance his life becomes more 'normal'. He's curious if he can have a friend, a family, his own children, a wife etc.
How is Season 4 arrogance? dexter faced many problems during that season with the new family & the Trinity Killer

Man, the thing I love about this song is that over time if you listen to it during all of the biggest moments it plays throughout the series (especially the finale) you can hear it deteriorate over time, and that just amazes me so much. I love Dexter, Micheal C. Hall, everyone involved with the show and especially the Music Composer and Directors.

Ending to dexter should have had this song playing and his son sneaks a knife out of the house and walks towards the neighbors barking dog and then fade to black. Now THAT would have been a better ending than the shitty one we got

Stephen Martell Not really, a better ending would have been dedicating the whole season back to the capture of Dexter. The last season should be where everyone's doubts come to fruition, where they after all realize that Dexter is a serial killer. In the end, showing that eventually you will get caught.
The writers of the first 4 seasons intended on doing just that. The end would be Dexter getting prepared to face the death penalty, while seeing everyone he has hurt and manipulated in his life watching him.
Now that would have been a better ending.
