I prefer gold bars for sure . Some gold bars are highly collectable as coins are because of quality and rarity . Case in point try and find a Harrington's 1 oz bar , they look good too .
In my area their are a lot of middle eastern small businesses. I've asked which gold they prefer. Bars usually their answer. The past year or so they have shone more interest in sovereign coins. These conversations are good to have with retailers. I use gold or silver at these business, gas, groceries, auto shops, gun stores. I've even bought or traded gold and silver for used vehicles. I've used gold an silver as collateral for cash loans.
It still comes down to personal preference, tax, and what opportunities present themselves at what time. You can buy gold from vendining machines in Dubai.
When the gold prices are at all time high, the price for bar or coin are same when it come to secondary retail market. No one ver had given premium on coins that spot price. May in IS about in my country India, bar or coin the prices is same when you sell them.
I really love your disclaimer between USA and ROW! Personally, in Switzerland, HAVE a mix bars (swiss), coins in gold, same goes for silver, platinum, palladium...my 17 years old son calls me nuts
Interesting! Are Swiss Francs popular in your area/country? Have you noticed if demand goes more in favor of bars or coins? Haha, what do kids know anyhow?
@CampbellsCoins thank you Sir, for your nice comments. Swiss Francs are the currency 😀, gold Vreneli (20 common, 10 too expensive, 100 rare). I really do not know the trend between bars/coins. For me: bars ('boring' to look at, coins have an optical kick, nevertheless both are solid investement). With regards to my son (17), few days ago I have purchased a 1kg silver coin (year of the dog, I was born 1958, my son 2006, just sentimental). A present for him at 21 (now he has other priorities 😀, same as I had at this age). Once again a big thank you for your channel, take care.

Selling bars is an eye opener. I was all about stacking them until I sold some and didn’t get melt for them. I’m sticking to Coins from here on out. Great video 😎✨🤘
I simply like the look of gold bars, makes me feel like a gangster. I have no intentions of selling in my lifetime, so if its gold its gold. Might aswell pick the ones i like looking at
Good that you recognized the lack of significant difference in purchase/sale price between bars and coin. I hear that Canadian Maples are not that desirable by retail metal buyers vs US coin. Plus regional variables. Candy bars are most desirable!
Great video. I always thought that cheaper meant better. But I've come to learn that when it comes to gold, you can't cheap out. Get it from a reputable, trusted source. I have quite a few bars because i found them to be slightly cheaper than sovereign Coins. I picked up a few of those 20 Swiss Frans Helevita gold Coins. Starting to question it now because there's unfortunately not much of a market in the US for foreign 90% gold Coins. Also it's a disadvantage because it's a weird weight in actual gold weight... something like .1867 troy oz per 20 Swiss franc Coin.
Rookie move Jimmy with those Swiss Francs haha. I'm just joking. Yeah, unfortunately, it's a live and learn lesson when it comes to certain types of bars and coins. I have a few foreign 90% gold pieces but I got them as collector pieces, nothing more. I know they will be hard to sell unless I drop the price to near spot, for the reasons you mention. Thanks for the support!
I gotta be honest with you bro. I don’t like bars and I own none. Lol. For many of the reasons you listed too. I’ve streamlined to almost all AGE’s and Buffalo’s. I hope you pup is doing better. Great video bro.
@@CampbellsCoins Thank you for responding. I just want to make sure it’s safe to order from them in case my lcs doesn’t have the coins I want. Have a safe day and thank you for all your good videos. 👏👏👏
@@CampbellsCoins who is cheaper than SD Bullion for 10 gram bars that I can buy with a money order? I just received my first bar from them. They were the cheapest place I found.
In the UK, with sterling coins being exempt from CGT, it’s coins every time. But even without that (and the CGT annual exemption is relatively generous) the liquidity and security of a Britannia makes them the go to for investment. Makes the choice of what to buy a bit boring - but at least they’re attractive coins to compensate for that.
I'm looking into bars because I just moved to a state that charges sales tax on coins.... sales tax on coins!! I will be dead before I pay a tax on coins. Now I'll have to drive out of state to buy gold. Sometimes I wonder if the government has outlived its usefulness... Anyways thanks for the info.
She's recovering fairly well. It's a 12 week process and we are four weeks in. But she's good, the vet's are impressed with her progress. Thanks for checking, happy Thanksgiving!
First of all, Great video. I myself have been buying bars because I live in Minnesota now, and the state taxes the h÷!l out of coins, gold or silver, but does not tax bars or rounds. So, for me, it's purely economics. More gold and silver in my stack if I buy generic. Anyone else have this problem in their state?
Costco has some amazing deals on both bars and coins especially when you consider the 2% cash back from the CC and membership rebates. I bought several bars from Costco which were sorta "beat up" in the packaging but of course were real as I confirmed from my LCS. I'd be shocked if Costco ever sold fake gold as if that got around a multi-billion dollar business would be in jeopardy. How they do it I don't know?
Me personally I prefer gold coins, however, I do own a few gold bars. I am planning on getting one of the 2024 year of the Dragon gold bar at some point maybe a 5 or 10 gram I think. What's funny when it comes to silver I love stacking bars. 🤷
Isn't that funny? Silver stackers don't mind a silver bar but frown (ever so slightly) on the gold bars. Most wouldn't think twice on a silver bar even though the same tax reporting exists for them. Great point BA. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours 🦃
That article with the fake Perth bars happened in my neighborhood. I reported his FB sale post to my law enforcement friends. The idiot tried to make the deal at an LCS who I sometimes visit but that LCS has all the testing equipment you can imagine.
I'm team bars...lowest premiums...dont expect a penny over spot back...offer me a penny less I'll take my gold elsewhere...its 24k 999.9 GOLD BARS what you don't want them?
Ireland the bars are very reasonable from a dealer, i just dont want to pay for coin my goal is as much pure 24kt gold as possible spread out over a few years not necessarily although would be lovely to get a nice profit but in the end its a way to give something of real value to the kids so if they needed cash one day they have it but not instatantly there will be a delay!
I just want gold period

Yep exactly. Good on you for checking what's popular in your area. That's what's most important.
Location is so important. Here in Texas, I get spot for bars. Same as for coins.
Very true.
Not sure what's up but our dear friends at YT are burying your videos. Glad you showed up again.
I've noticed this... Appreciate your support. 👊
Gold Coins!
Silver Bars!
Unless you can get 10oz gold bars haha now that’s wealth stacking
@@NOTurbuisness-r5q
Would love a 10oz gold bar.
That’s usually what I buy in silver. In fact waiting for a couple RCM Bars now.

Are JM, SD Bullion & APMEX trust worthy companies when buying gold bars?
Yes, but you just listed three online companies with some of the highest prices.

Very interesting. Never heard of a state taxing coins but not bars. Do whatever is more economical. Thanks for watching.
I live north of Duluth and I go to Wisconsin to buy coins.
I'm new to gold so I would prefer some of each. When it comes to coins though I like the 9999 coins. I was never all that impressed with gold eagles.
Me neither. If they didn't come in fractional form, I don't think I'd own a single gold eagle.
Gold coins are easy to run over my Sigma Metalytics machine. At this price point I can’t risk phony bars.
Solid observations.
