this song kinda dark but deep too esp. at the end when it says say that you love me say that you do.. that part touches me because sometimes i want my girlfriend to say i love you but sometimes she dont esp if shes mad.... thats why i feel with those specific lyrics but otherwise this song is very like dissonant and touching in a deep dark way

So much heart beyond their years. The lyrics are so relatable and delivered with the best range. Thornhill is like a progression of Architects, Northlane and Deftones but then they got some crazy new haunting yet uplifting shit going on too

This song is my all time favourite song... The lyrics mean something to me like no other song before. I'm happy, but lonely. I've never had unconditional love before and all I want is to be loved by people but I struggle so hard to make that happen 😞. The song gives me goosebumps and brings me tears more times than I'd like to admit. Absolutely epic song.

Bro I don’t know you but I think you I should know that you are loved. Learning to love yourself might be hard, but it worth trying. When you love yourself, everyone around do too. Everyone has his own way, but for me it helped taking out negative emotions with music. The more open and honest with yourself you become, the better you can understand, what causes your sadness and solve that. Hope I helped even a little. Love you, man

Strive to be pure from your core, luv yourself and everyone else will follow. It is a very attractive attribute to give and receive love unconditionally. I struggled a lot of my childhood with the same issues, due to abandonment I experienced with my own Mother, which is traumatizing to any being, but life showed me Love comes from many places and you don't need the Love of your Mother to have a successful life in Love. I didn't get it from where I thought it should come from, so I found it in myself, and the rest is history. Love yourself brother and the world will welcome you with open arms!

This EP slaps I just discovered Thornhill over the spring break and man these guys don't disappoint especially Jacob's vocals goodness this boy can sing.
Yeah but they're new stuff is meh. Definitely prefer their older sound

This ep is not only looked over by a lot of people but so is this song in particular. When I think of butterfly I think of like reptile and sunflower, but my god Joy is so good.

Thornhill is amazing, Jacob is such a sweet guy and so are the rest of them! They deserve everything they get! I recommend this band to everyone I'll ever meet. They've helped me through so much and they've made me realize things and accept things. Love you guys, so much. I owe you my life.

What do the lyrics mean? I feel as though it is talking about being in a constant state of taking substances to cope with a specific longing for acknowledgement by someone, wasting away until death. This "joy" is just dopamine coming from external sources?
And as for "sunflower carry me home", is it something like: lead me to the light? Like death?
nail on the head from my perspective besides the 'acknowledgement' part, I had her. I lost her during the pandemic, now i just sit smoking copious amounts of marijuana. I'm at the age where things start looking hopeless and i've lost all my 'give a fuck'. I'm just counting down the time.
