I love so gosh dang much that Charles is on here. I ended up learning so much about history, philosophy, and religion, even more so than the usual episodes.
If you're starting a campaign pre-awakening, it's my opinion that it's imperative to run the players through a 'dark night of the soul' first and foremost: set the game up to be happy times full of mystery, then take everything they love. Give it a face, and then when they meet that face, peel back the illusion and show it was never there to begin with. That's a strong foundation for mages who want to change reality.
