I like how Jamie phrased a "problem" as an "opportunity to excel." I worked as a mechanical engineer/project engineer/facilities engineer, etc. for fifty years and I know what it takes to put manufacturing into operation. Humans are creators in the multi-verse. Thought comes first on "What do we want to do, Why do we want to make it, Who do we want to make it, Where do we want to make it, When do we want to make it, and of course How do we make it." In a previous conversation Paul invited some violin makers to the factory and wanted to find out what was most important to them in making a violin which was how long the wood would ring. This became one of the key components in the manufacture of a PRS guitar. Thank you for the interview. Keep the contact with the employees...they are your creators. Without them, you have nothing! Happy New Year to you and all your employees.
i JUST finished watching a speech Paul gave 4 years ago at the pit bull music shop. in that speech he talked about Don Juan and the four enemies. he said he was still fighting the 2nd, clarity. within the first minute of of this video he wanted to make sure everyone knew he was sitting in the best chair in the house. im happy to see Paul has started fighting the 3rd enemy between now and then.
Most enjoyable. Must tell you im 63yrs old and been playing since I was 12. As you can imagine have played and owned many guitars. The only one I hadn’t had or even played was a PRS. until a week ago. I am absolutely gutted I have missed out for so long. It does everything I want it too and more. The biggest kick in the balls is that it will last longer than me. Thank you for building such an amazing instrument..

I am a new PRS Custom 22 owner (Sept 2022), and I can say that I am very happy with it and love the guitar to bits! PRS is also the only company that make me dream of owing one guitar from SE all the way up to private stock, I probably can only add an SE realistically, but still.... I started importing PRS into Sweden back in 1987 and have had the pleasure of meeting Paul and Jack quite a few times since then. So seeing this fireside chat is like meeting them again. Thanks for this video which made me feel like I'm still part of the PRS family.

Although everyone knows this video is in some way an advertisement for PRS; and you can't blame a company that's trying to make a profit and keep 450 people on their payroll, working. So kudos for that, but what is real about this company is its dedication to its customers and creating a great product. Their line of guitars, whether they're the SE line or the core line, they are well-made, great looking, and extremely playable instruments. I have 2 PRS's. One is an SE Custom 22 Semi-hollow, which is great. I also bought a Custom 24 10 Top back in 2013, and I noticed back in July that the finish was peeling. There wasn't a lot of it happening, but there was a couple of spots that were very noticeable, and I was surprised because of the quality of these guitars. But I knew I always kept the guitar clean and in as perfect an environment as I could. When I called PRS and gave them the info on the guitar and sent a couple of pics, they immediately sent me a return label to send it in for an evaluation. I did that and said to myself, "Here we go. I'm going to be on the hook for another $1000 or more after spending $3k years ago, and I'm going to despise this company now. Long story short, I was told not to worry, and they would refinish the entire guitar at no cost to me. 16 weeks later, I was flabbergasted by the way the guitar looked, felt, and played. I feel like I have a brand new guitar. And I was more of a pain on the ass while waiting for it than the other way around. So to me that is the difference between a good company and a great company. All the best in 2023.
I love Paul's remarks in this one. No guitar shape objects & leading positions are earned by the most competent person are really nice philosophies to run a guitar company by.
It's amazing that every year we are told that what is done now is a recent discovery that makes things right. What does that say about the previous designs? It also takes away a little faith in the company. For example, the amazing 85 15s that i so adore on my Ce24s is apparently what previous pickups should have been? The endless pinging i get with every Ce24 ( a common issue) when using the vibrato bar, the god awful lines where the necks are glued together in the back. The pinging I've heard online in a new USA silver sky ( wonder why there are so many used ones on the market). Love my PRS guitars core and CEs but the reality is that QC and R&D do not appear to be the same as before.
I don’t think we can comprehend what a gift it is to have access to the heads of state at PRS. Something that just does not happen from the other giants. I met Paul in the Netherlands and he was genuinely interested in who I was and remembered talking with me later in the day even though he had so much going on. Amazing time to be alive.
Those beautifully made guitar tones, challenging pick up creations all gone out of the window with cheap sounding overdriven distorted pedals that's not PRS would Stradivarius have done that? I don't think so ,stick to what you do best make the best guitars in the world.
Keep this up. Especially enjoyed the call-out to the DGT behind the scenes, the 30+ year employees (and the ones who weren't alive when), and so on. Open Organization with trust of the employees to keep it to themselves. That's powerful. My firm has some of that still, but growth and circumstances have reduced it bit by bit. Hang on to it.
I love your instruments and I love your business. To all the great men and women, workers and leaders thank you. I truly believe you are the best at what you do. Keep up the great work and keep innovating in 2023.
Love this company - just bought my second PRS (Pauls Guitar) 20 years after buying my first Custom 24. Literally life changing instruments even for me an intermediate dabbler. Thanks guys for all of your hard work -I'm never letting these instruments go. God bless and have an amazing 2023.
I had a 92 Custom 24 10 top. I played every guitar in that store and that one fit me. It was my "when I've been good" guitar, meaning I didn't bang it around and playing it was special. It was stolen in 2000 and I will never be able to afford another one. But I still love that guitarr and I would imagine that the person who finally ended up with it loves it as well. Thanks guys!
Paul, Jack and Jamie. Love these videos. Sold 4 Gibsons and picked up 3 PRS guitars the past few months. P22, S2 McCarty SC 594 and a CE. LOVE THEM. Thanks guys!
Great chat! Thanks for the quality instruments you make. I've been enjoying them for many years now and I can't explain how fortunate I feel when I pick up one of your instruments to lay a track or play live with. That means a lot when you do this for a living and depend on your tools for the livelihood of your family! I would love to see you have more of a market presence where I live, which is north Idaho/eastern WA area. I literally have to drive all day to get to any kind of dealer and I would probably have twice as many of your guitars if I could only get to a place and try them first. Just my 2 cents, thanks for all the hard work you guys do!
The sense of team that comes over in this chat and the videos on making your instruments is reflected in the quality what you make. Got my first PRS recently, an SE Hollowbody II. Beautifully made, sounds great - way beyond its price point.
I've been playing guitar for 44 years, have eighteen guitars. This year I bought my first PRS, an SE Hollow body II with Piezo...as good as advertised.
My wonderful daughter gave me an SE 24 08 for my 50th birthday this November. I LOVE IT! its a great guitar. It had a minor grounding issue, easily managed, and it had 9s but i believe it feels more at home with 10s. That being said, i cant put it down and will love it for many years to come.
Mr Smith. I enjoyed this video and your team conversation. You are on my bucket list of people I would love to meet and just chat with, truly. Be well and Happy New Year to you and your PRS family. Cheers from Canada
Thank you very much. I have 3 PRS SE and one S2... excellent guitars. I even have two PRS hooded sweatshirts...great company. Each quality guitar is the rung of the ladder that raises this , my favorite brand to the highest level.
This is great to see the minds and community that built my 2015 Custom 24 10 top 30th Anniversary. I fell in love with it on Sweetwater in 2015 and they delivered it with care. I'm dead hand at the moment because I recently had a stroke, but I'm not giving up. Thank you for creating such beauty with these guitars.
Hi Paul, Jack, and Jamie. Thank you for doing this chat again. PRS is one of a handful of organizations that I am curious about every aspect of the business . The way I feel about you guys and your products goes way beyond brand loyalty. I joke around (but I'm not joking at all) that my dream retirement gig would be pushing a broom on the PRS build floor. I view Paul and the PRS team as the tip of the spear - true innovators that are making incredible advancements in instrument design and manufacturing. Thanks to you all for making the investment of time, money, and people to put together this video and all the other great content you have been releasing lately. Keep rocking!
Thank you ALL for the great instruments and amps . I've added a McCarty Soapbar, 594 HBII, Special Semi and Walnut LTD playing through a DG 30 Custom this year . They have changed the way I play , even after over 50 years, the magic is real .
Just picked up an SE Standard 24-08. What an excellent guitar! Great pickups, great build. Can hang easily with my 3 core models! PRS make amazing guitars. I also grabbed the HDRX 20 amp. My favourite plexiglass style amp I have owned, and I've owned a bunch (custom builds, Dr Z, etc.)
Started playing guitar a year ago. Playing on a PRS SE Hollowbody II Piezo. Great all-around guitar. Sounds great, looks great and stays in tune. I love picking up the guitar every day. Thanks for doing what you do and for the passion you put into the guitars you make for this world!!
Hi guys, thanks for the small windows into your process, your thinking and drive to make the best guitar available to players. I'm fairly new to PRS after playing another brand for decades, and I'm so impressed with the instruments you are offering. I'm ravenously awaiting the launch of the DGT SE. If it's as much of a pleasure to play as your Paul's guitar, I will die a happy old picker. Blessings and prosperity to you and all of the people that work for you.
This is great, you guys should do a podcast and have all prs artists as guests, that would be so cool. I'm interested in the dgt. It's looks brilliant. Prs se is killing it and it's an important time for it, with cost of everything.
Great video. I am saving for my first PRS. Love the commitment to producing great instruments that are also works of art. You're a large company but still retain that small company boutique vibe. Happy New Year!
This is such a great video, and it prompted me to subscribe to this channel. I don't own a PRS but maybe that'll change in 2023. I always enjoy hearing people discuss things they're really passionate about, and this video is an impressive example of it.
Really enjoy mine. I have a secu24, a SE ZM and a semihollow CE24 modded with 24-08 switching. Not a fan of the Nitro finish on the US models because it isn't as durable and the guitars look so good I want to keep them that way. Love the feel and the way they play despite my nitro issue I love my CE24. It is my main guitar. Try a few of the models they all have a similar but yet different character. You may not like one at all, but another model may really speak to you.
PRS, Suhr, Anderson make the best guitars. a good guitar is the sum of the accurate workmanship and the quality of the wood and the parts. Every PRS guitar i bought had a perfect setting out of the box. Love this PRs guitars. My english is not so good, but i hope you know what i mean.
Hey guys, have I spotted a container of Parmigiana cheese on the floor, next to Jack? Is that for the pizza made in the fireplace, or a secret ingredient in the new SE DGT? Anyway, nice video, great guitars! I have 3, Cheers!
Hey guys! Love what y'all do! The brand has just firmly cemented it self in the world as a premier and premium guitar company. One question, when will the factory tours be re-established? Thank you and have a wonderful new year!!
My favorite things to watch on You Tube are where Paul’s being interviewed or telling stories. Yeah, keep these fireside chats. I recently got a ‘97 Custom 22, and I love those original Dragons and the rotary switch. I’d love to hear Paul talk about those Dragon pickups!
@@thomashogan1985 ‘97 was the last year for the original Dragons, ‘98 on got the Dragon II pickups. Not as hot as the originals. My bridge pickup is 18+ ohms. The Dragon II is 12 ohms.
I have the Zack Meyer SE model. It's a great guitar. The only thing I would like is maybe a few more colors to choose from. Keep up the great service to the public. I'm currently eyeing a Mark Holcomb model. 😍
Rumor is S2 is going away. Or change to another format. I feel like for the money the S2s are the best value in that realm. Also the SEs coming out just blow me away. I am a snob and love them. I sold a USA SS and kept the SE.
There’s home runs and there’s grand slam home runs. The Silver Sky is a grand slam for PRS guitars. That guitar brought PRS to a whole new level of production on a mass scale.
I can't wait until the DGT SE gets released. It will join my 93 CU24 10 Top, 2016 CE24 and SE CU24-08 in my stable. Having seen David at the Saxon, his tone is the tone I try to achieve. That will certainly help because it is a 22 fret instrument.
I bet that David's SE Sig will definitely turn the tables after John just got his out like months ago, I really wanted the 513, cause that was the first ever guitar that I had personally played all the way back in 2008, and I was so surprised.
First off, I own 2 PRS guitars, a first run Silver Sky and a McCarty 594, great guitars I will not part with my Silver Sky. I also have an HDRX20 (which I love), I had ordered an HDRX 50 right when they were announced and I never saw it, thats why I got the 20. So I guess your parts suppliers were at fault, I mean 2 years later no HDRX 50 (I cancelled the order and bought a Soldano 30). I am really looking forward to the DGT SE. I was really looking forward to the Wind In The Trees flanger, till I tried it, it did not compare to my foxrox TZF. Finally, like every company out there some stuff is good and some not so good, mostly you guys are good. All the best.
Can I say the reason I have 5 PRS Guitars is because I trust PRS and the man himself. The function of PRS seems to me to be to make Guitars that people will love! I don't believe that is the case with all Guitar Companies. In my humble view PRS is Customer and Quality led which is the only way to run a business, not just a Guitar business.
I've never been able to bond w/a PRS. They're fun to look at, built well, but they've never been keepers for me. Had a Custom 24 back in '92, a USA made EG bolt-on from '91, 2002 Singlecut Trem, an S2 Mira (probably my favorite PRS), a 2014 Brent Mason, and an SC245 Artist Package from 2007. My best guess as to why I never bonded w/any of them long term is scale length...and I'm not talking from a "feel' perspective. All my keeper guitars are 25.5" scale lengths, and have more of what my ears like to hear. Makes sense since I was weened on Strats, and PRS is more rooted in Gibson-isms. I think my lesson is that scale length affects tone in more ways than one might think.
Maybe you can comment on this next time…is there a point of diminishing return? In other words, if the change to the bone nut slot cost $100 to every guitar, would it still be done? Can’t wait to check out the SE DGT.
Really great video. As a new Silver Sky Core owner and a long standing PRS fan…pretty much since the first year, I’m interested in the focus you have on individual details and if there’s a plan to improve the fit of the knobs and how the wobble can be ironed out and the feel of the switch tip which IMHO is very poor, the switch itself has a lot of play in it. Overall I’m stoked with the guitar but these points really don’t feel PRS they feel cheap to me.
**Teasing ahead!** Ahh, Americans--shoes on in a house, blue jeans all around, heat cranked up enough that Jamie wore just a ss polo shirt--gotta love 'em! Worry not, I'm American as well, albeit one living in Japan--definitely no shoes on in a house!--pleated pants and layers of clothing, as most Japanese dwellings are minimally insulated and don't have central heating or fireplaces. Seriously though, nice recap of the year, and although I don't own any PRS product (but would like to, of course!), the music stores here do have some stunning guitars. As was talked about, the "stereotype" of Japanese wanting quality is true, so there are lots of 10-Top, Wood Library, and store-exclusive models on the walls.
Hi prs! I love the company's philosophy and instruments. As a lefty is there any chance of making a lefthanded silver sky se?. Happy New year at all at prs.👍
It has always intrigued me that the head stock size has been overlooked by you all,in the seventies a Japanese company did extensive work on head stock mass and size and concluded a larger head stock adds to tone and sustain, perhaps that is what Ford was not hearing on your standard size. not that he is familiar with a large head-stock.
Too bad they didn't have the component discussion last year. My new Vela needed a new pickup switch after 2 months then a new volume pot after 6 months. I have a Ibanez from 1981 that has all the original components and still works like a charm. Having said that, I really like my Vela, although as Paul alluded to, it's not my first choice, mainly because of these annoying little problems.

The sense of team that comes over in this chat and the videos on making your instruments is reflected in the quality what you make. Got my first PRS recently, an SE Hollowbody II. Beautifully made, sounds great - way beyond its price point.
Paul... the Howard Hughes of the guitar world. I work at a restaurant but one day I'll unbox one.
The company really cares about its quality and reputation. I'm very impressed by its products. I really liked the fireside chat.
Thank you ALL for the great instruments and amps . I've added a McCarty Soapbar, 594 HBII, Special Semi and Walnut LTD playing through a DG 30 Custom this year . They have changed the way I play , even after over 50 years, the magic is real .
Watching this as I play my new favorite guitar, an S2 24-08. Kudos to Paul and everyone for setting the high bar.
Thank you, guys. All the best for a prosperous 2023. Stay on your toes and continue making the best guitars in the world. Happy New Year!
Great Fireside chat! Thanks for all the fantastic guitars.
What a great meeting! I feel like I'm part of the family! PRS must be an amazing place to work for with this kind of leadership! Thank you!
This is really cool. I hope you do it every year.
This is great, you guys should do a podcast and have all prs artists as guests, that would be so cool. I'm interested in the dgt. It's looks brilliant. Prs se is killing it and it's an important time for it, with cost of everything.
Thanks guys. You're the best
Happy Christmas & a Happy New Year Folks, I want a PRS so bad :)
Suhr make my favorite production guitars for sure.
The Silver Sky is my go to! Own two and have one on the way!
appreciate the down to earth conversation and insight. All the best to everyone.
Paul looks so comfy I bet this is legitimately at his house😂🤣 This is awesome!
Love the team at prs! Props to the marketing dept for putting out top quality content, cheers to another great year!
I love my prs silver sky SE! It’s my first ever prs and definitely made me a fanboy 😂 can’t wait for the SE DGT ❤
I just got a prs s2 standard 22 , all these great videos showing your process really made want to have one of your guitars
Been playing a 98 22 for 20 years, amazing guitar and love the pickups
Thank you
Happy New Year 🎊
So weird for me to see 3 yanks sitting in a house that looks to me like an English house! (I’m from England). Great video 👍👏
I can't wait until the DGT SE gets released. It will join my 93 CU24 10 Top, 2016 CE24 and SE CU24-08 in my stable. Having seen David at the Saxon, his tone is the tone I try to achieve. That will certainly help because it is a 22 fret instrument.
Fantastic video!
Thanks for the fireside chat, love the insight into the company and your mindset. Now can we get an annual PRS leadership jam session?
A smart man lets the boss sit in his favorite chair.
"it's warm, there's enough LED light here" haha!
You'll should bring black some of the original pickups from the 80's, like the standard treble and bass pickups.
Can’t wait to get a PRS
Were jeans required for this video lol!
Loved it 🖤
Love the chat guys and love me some PRS but i couldn’t help keep noticing that you are all wearing the exact same pair of denims lol
I’m saving my money for the new DTG SE gold top and the new “T” style guitar! 😏👍
Wow - I’ve never seen Paul not wearing a collared shirt over a T-shirt. Looking crisp but I can’t get behind the shoes.
I remember going to the original factory and there was 50 people in 1995.
If I lived on the East Coast , I'd wanna work at PRS!
@21:11 I thought he said "the techs we fired," but he actually said, "the techs we've hired."
When will PRS do a nylon string guitar a hybrid like Godin or Gibson or Sand
Bring on the Tel….uh, T-type…..uh, Mylescaster? 😉🤘🏼
I've been playing my Custom 24 for 8 years straight... now can I please have a DGT with a satin maple neck?
Neat vid but who decided they should all wear matching jeans?
