As per the Supreme Court judgement for WRIT PETITION (CIVIL ) NO.265 of 2011 filed by Avishek Goenka vs Union of India Para 24 (1) "They shall not permit pasting of ANY MATERIAL, including FILM OF ANY VLT, on the safety glasses of ANY VEHICLE" (this judgement copy can be seen in the internet). So legally pasting any sort of "extra" film is not permitted. If I am wrong somebody can clarify this SC verdict.
In Tamil Nadu sticking sun film in cars is permitted but in Karnataka it is banned. I was fined for sticking sun film in my car in Bangalore, karnataka and afterthat I noticed that no cars in Bangalore sticking sun films. 1:34

For Bangalore climate it may be ok without sunfilm. But in chennai weather is generally hot.
