  • Stayed at a Thousand Trails campground for the first time ever and really enjoyed it! This is a park we would love to come back to! It was a short stay but we have to move on.

    Great music choice. Let’s see more of those puppy’s. We need to fly the Mavics together

    Nice and honest evaluation. Been thinking about going there but the complainers on Yelp kept me away. You video and evaluation helped me reconsider. Thank you!

      Glad to help! We liked the park. And it was out of the way with lots of things to do. Was it perfect? No, but we don't expect any place to be perfect.

    Absolutely fantastic opening drone shots with an excellent music choice. The shot following the person jogging beside the pool was great. I didn't know you owned a drone? You have definitely stepped up your game. Thanks for sharing.

      +Captain Obfuscation thanks so much! Yes, the drone is a very recent upgrade and we're loving it so far. That was Lynn walking around the pool and that's one of our favorite shots too! Thanks for watching, and the comment

    There’s a few you tube channels for convection oven backing and cooking We have one for output hone and haven’t used the reg oven since lol just takes a bit of practice on temps and time to cook. But also use instant pot and nuwave the most

    Shade sight here all day, I bought an rv to camp more comfortably not to park it in a wide open field lol. We're brand new to rv'ing and it's amazing how different the parks look on line or on a brochure then when you actually get there.

      @WanderingWagners  6 років тому

      +AnglerX I think I'm cold blooded half the time as shade=goosebumps for me. I Just prefer full sun because then I'm comfortable haha I think the shade sites are far more beautiful though! We generally just take what they give us and roll with it. So far so good. We get a little of each😊 we agree that picture online sometimes aren't a great depiction of what you'll see upon arrival. A few certainly are through!

    The Carolina's topography reminds me a lot of Western Washington and Oregon, where we are. Looking forward to visiting the other side of the country some day. It looks beautiful.

    The convection MW works great in oven mode. Bakes very even because it spins like in MW mode. Doesn't heat the RV up like the oven does.

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  6 років тому

      +Nomadic Native sounds like majority of people with them like them. Assuming it bakes like an oven (crispy) and not like a microwave (soggy) correct?

    • @NomadicNative
      @NomadicNative 6 років тому

      Wandering Wagners exactly correct. I was surprised by it & now that we are over the fear of putting metal in a microwave we both like it a lot!

    A good sized oven is a must have for us as well as we use ours quite a bit. As for a convection oven we've had a couple and use it quite a bit. They require less heat and/or baking time so you'll have to get used to making those adjustments. The only down side is the fan makes them noisier than a conventional.

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  6 років тому

      +George Reed thanks for the input! Would you consider a convection just as good at baking/ cooking as your conventional oven? Given the choice which would you use for best results?

    • @gr7485
      @gr7485 6 років тому

      I think they are just as good. You get used to the time/temp differences and adjust accordingly. For us deciding between conventional or convection is usually based on if we want to listen to the fan or not. If we can sit outside while baking the fan noise isn't an issue. But if we have to sit inside the fan can become a little annoying. As they say YMMV.

    I use a instant pot for my pasta meals which eliminates a lot of heat from cooking. Most TT campgrounds seem to be worn out and minimal or dysfunctional wifi. They also seem to favor annual renters too much.

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  6 років тому

      We currently don't have an instant pot and don't really think cooking adds much heat inside. We do cook over the campfire too😊 maybe one day I'll get an instant pot haha
      You're right there are a lot of worn out campgrounds that could be really great with a little love

    Convection cooking is easy. It's just like a regular oven, except it's faster. If a recipe calls for a baking time of 40 mins. in a convection oven, it will be done about 25% quicker. I like mine better than my regular oven.

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  6 років тому

    All a convection oven does is blow hot air around in the oven with a fan for more even cooking. I have used a standard stove and oven for over 30 years. The trick is to set the cook temp at 25 degrees below normal. 350 would be set at 325.

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  6 років тому

      +Ron Spruill we use our regular oven and haven't had any issues. Just turn the temp down because it's not a full size oven so temps need adjusted. No issues when i cook or bake!

    Thousand trails was started many years ago by investors to be a time share for campers. Over the years the investors have pulled out and now the parks are somewhat run down.

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  6 років тому +1

      +Ron Spruill I see a few people buy their passes and like them. There aren't many around us so we've never been to one until now. It was a nice park that we both enjoyed. Just needed a little cleaning, minor updates

    My favorite cookware in the coach is the pressure/slow cooker. I do not know why people improperly call it an " instant pot ". It certainly is not. It can take up to 25 minutes or longer if food is frozen for it to heat up to make steam. I have worn out 2 of them and are on my third the 10 quart one which I have used to can also. You will love it once you try one.

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  6 років тому

      +Ron Spruill instant pots are different than a croc pot. Instant pot is a fully sealed, fully insulated pressure cooker. That being said, I have and use a croc pot but haven't really used it in the camper yet, but if we're full time I'm sure it'll get more use!

    • @ronspruill5112
      @ronspruill5112 6 років тому

      Wandering Wagners you are correct on the Crock-Pot. They are pressure/slow cookers under pressure.

    • @ronspruill5112
      @ronspruill5112 6 років тому

      Wandering Wagners my other point was they are not instant

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  6 років тому +1

      +Ron Spruill yeah, the instant pots are much faster than a croc/slow cooker but both are fairly slow (1 hr instant pot vs 4 hrs croc pot) but they make awesome 1 pot meals!

    • @2Peachcobler

      Ron Spruill"Instant Pot" it's a brand name of a pressure cooker.

    I use the oven a lot. If you have a convection oven you need A.C. power. So no hook ups, no gen. No dice. You oven can run on L.P.. convection oven works well but you need to get used to it. About 20 to 25 degrees difference lower for convection. Your choice, i am old school though

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  6 років тому

      +Todd Ramsay yeah that is something we've thought about (boondocking/ no power). Granted all of the motorhomes we've looked at have had on board generators, but our on board gens have had issues in the past too so it's something to consider. I love my regular oven and have baked everything from twice baked potatoes, to peach cobbler and pecan pie in it so I'm mainly wanting to know if I can still do all of that with convection IF we only have it to cook with. I'd prefer both but very few have both.

    • @toddramsay977
      @toddramsay977 6 років тому

      Wandering Wagners yes you can do anything in a convection oven as you can with the classic, you just have to get used to it and adjust time to cook. It will cook more even than the R.V oven because of the fan.

  • @NomadicNative
    @NomadicNative 6 років тому +1

    Been thinking about turning some of our land into a place called "Boondockers Anonymous". No hookups, no sites, park where you want, $10 for an overnight stop. Wouldn't be for camping, just overnights.

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  6 років тому +1

      +RV SERIOUS ??!!?? Sometimes we like to enjoy everything the campground has to offer vs going out looking for activities, especially if there's no need. While we were in Gatlinburg, we left to go hiking etc but here in North Carolina we didn't want to travel 30 miles just to do it. Especially with dogs we like to do as much as we can with them. At this campground they had several hiking trail entrances from the campground itself. Which is what we enjoy doing most with our dogs. It was away from cities and busy noises and very peaceful. Why pay for a campground if you don't intend to enjoy it as well. 👍

      +twdenman1 I don't think we'd pay for a membership. Not unless we were in a place for months and it made sense, otherwise we'd stay a few nights like we did here.
