I absolutely love the Prowlers and it’s my main play style in GU where I could fight any monsters with it. Unfortunately, though, we Prowler users tend to get kicked out of lobbies because non-prowler users don’t know the value and what the Prowlers are capable of, thinking we’d be a deadweight to the team… I want the Prowler mode to return in future games so bad. In fact, I want it to return in the sequel to Rise now! It’s such a fun mode that offers an entirely new experience to the game. People say that each of the 14 weapons make the game plays so differently, it’s like you’re playing an entirely different game, well, Prowlers is that but even more so! It’s such a high risk, high reward play style because you’re much weaker than the hunters but you have access to so many unique moves and skills that could be considered OP. Plus, you get to be cute cats!! Speaking of a giant boomerang weapons, Wyverian4G covered this Chinese MH mobile clone where they made a giant boomerang weapon by, literally, stealing animation from various MH weapons like the Great Sword and Charge Blade, etc into it. You should have a look and see if that’s something you have in mind for the boomerang weapon. LOL Anyway, I want the Prowlers in Rise so bad. I want to be a cat riding a dog into battle!
I used to use prowlers for gathering mostly in Gu because they had unlimited pickaxe and net. However, would love to see it return in Rise Ultimate or MH6!
Glad I never ran into those people. Of all the Prowlers I specialized in Ultimate, Healing was not the one I expected to. Considering how hard many of the monsters can hit, with even fatal status conditions, it felt very rewarding being able to stay on top of teammates safety, without having to interrupt my flow of combat.
Same here. I had someone yell at me to switch to a real weapon to fight Lao Shan Lung. I was OK I'm not switching so let's go or kick me. You would think the fact my cat was decked out in Amatsu gear and the 1000+ missions I've done as cat would be the tip off but no. We went and he carted 2x iirc. I never did and you know what? It turns out not giving a flying shit about stamina really helps load cannons.
I’ve played Prowler 1k times, that just shows how much fun it is. I felt sad it didn’t return, but I do hope one day it will make a comeback and with the doggos now, that would also be a very interesting experience as well.
I played prowler in gu and was fun, not my fav but love the amount of customization prowler(and well most weapons) in GU has. Very unique and brought a level of fun to that game that haven’t been brought to others in a while.
Prowler is my #1 weapon in Generations and MHGU, and by a _lot._ Some highlights: - If everything appears bigger in Prowler mode you're not wrong, the camera actually IS set lower to the ground (and closer to your character) than with a Hunter. - Prowlers have better utility skills than hunters if you're running a quest that needs it. Their lack of standard items allows more inventory space for gathering missions, or the ability to restock other Hunters with extra healing supplies. - A few Prowler skills are actually the higher tier of the skill in question -- e.g. Prowler "Earplugs" is actually "HG Earplugs". - The Mega Boomerang skill, for one, actually got hella buffed between base Generations and MHGU ... but its biggest improvement is actually the manual aiming. (Chestnut Cannon and a few other skills feel buffed for the same reason.) - Prowlers have a single Sharpness color _that never dulls,_ and the support skill "Handicraft" outright buffs it by one color level. - A skilled melee Prowler (of almost any type or build) will equal an average Hunter weapon for average clear time. Note that, like with S&S or DB, "skilled" generally means being able to keep pressing your attacks.
While I was never particularly good at Prowler in GU I loved playing it so much. There were so many unique skills you can put on a palico. And I'd hire so many more than I do now because I wanted extra configurations and loadouts when I played as Prowler. I liked having all sorts of differently designed prowlers with different armor sets and styles. Like you could have a beast mode based prowler with weapon boost. A capture based one you could equip so you could have the skill that lets you know when to capture a monster on a whim if your say multiplayer lobby happened to be killing the G1 deviant on accident instead of capturing. I had ones based on healing. Another was based on using the offensive palico skills. One was purely Rath of Meow. It was a really fun system I was quite sad it didn't return honestly.
Playing as a Felyne has been on my wishlist for MH features ever since I started playing this series. That it was already an option in Generations kind of blows my mind. I absolutely want playing as an angry fuzzball back in Monster Hunter! I'd be happy if it wasn't a different game mode at all, just a reskin/rescale of the regular hunter and gameplay. Throw in Wyverian hunters in there too for good measure, just for the cosmetic choice.

Entire GU game time, not really, was definitely Prowler mode. I've been wanting them to bring it back, especially with a possible chance of being able to play as a Palamute as well.
My friends talk about Prowler Fondly and keep wanting back whenever a MH game is announced. AI palicos are pretty decent as it is as support roles, but I think I'd love to see player controlled palicos just for a little variety.
I played Generations a ton as a palico because I had found a Support Palico with Chestnut Cannon, Shock Purrison+, and Nine Lives: Defense. Chestnut Cannon getting a knock out was so satisfying, and the double traps that the cat had were so handy (when iin multiplayer against non-elders, for obvious reasons) He's what I based my MHW cat off of. A plain Melynx with emerald-ish colored eyes.
I don’t know how many people know. But I realized we can recharge those acorns by sleeping at the camp. Which is pretty op, but I still love beast mode prowler. It feels like duel blades. I remember back in the day. I play as prowler with my sister, who uses duel blades., and we competes who will ride the monster first.
Prowler mode is how my niece (who is 6) got into monster hunter. I let her play on my switch and she decided she wanted to play MHGU and I just let her play on my file as a prowler. She adored it and now plays rise with me on occasion
Its a cool concept havent spent enough time with prowler to give a full opinion but its neat, feels a bit gimmicky at times but if they flushed it out a bit more combo wise I think it would be an awesome addition to future games. The palicos are a huge part of mh

It's funny you say you would like a Boomerang weapon in Monster Hunter Cotton because at one point there was plans, even concept sketches, for a Boomerang weapon in Gen called the Wyvern Boomerang but was ultimately scrapped. I hope they return to this idea one day because there was a second weapon type that was also scrapped for Gen that later become the Palamute in Rise called the Hunting Hound.
With the palicos in Rise having different fighing styles, along with the 'buddies' system as they call it now letting you have two critters tag along, imagine running about as a whole little squad of palicos in a prowler mode

Prawler is so underrated it's insane, but ithink part of it is how complicated it is to mix mach a palico to make it op but when you do it's so good and strong boomerang focus palicos are op as hell just get a healer palico with the bomerang boosters the pricing and big boomerang not mega big you can also have it with mega, and your basically set
this almost makes me wonder if prowler was originally planned for rise, but was scrapped for some reason (maybe something to do with palamutes, maybe being able to switch weapons mid hunt) regardless it would have been a wonderful addition to the already amazing gameplay
I loved prowler. Would love to see it return. Honestly they could make an entire spin off game focused on a prowler/palamute story to expand their lore. Maybe some monster knocked out an entire village with spores or something and it is up to the buddies to step up and protect everyone.
I'd love to see this come back whether it be for Rise or future Monster Hunter game, i much prefer playing as a Palico than my own hunter, it'd be even cooler to be able to keep your pets during it (if you couldn't then) palico hunting party!
I played them quite a bit in gu and they were really fun, plus in multiplayer hubs they added some extra variety, sorta like different character races in an mmo, being a prowler just felt special.
Prowler is a ton of fun, great for newbies and veterans alike. You're not as strong as a Hunter for damage per hit, but you've got more than enough options to kick just as much butt as one and contribute to the hunt in so many useful ways. It's also just really cool to see the monsters even bigger than usual when you're a tiny, little kitty cat next to a hulking behemoth like Gammoth or Duramboros. I'm all for the mode coming back someday.
I've only ever played world but when i first found out about prowler mode, I've wanted to see it redone with the palico gadgets in world some like the shield and ballista being weapon choices while the other gadgets like the bombs or coral horn being parts of some class based system when playing as our feline friends.
prowler with both cats & dogs(not exact term, but still) would be good to return as well as that boomerang idea. only issue i see is the palico system has been neutered so for it to return the full system needs coming back. & if it does the palimute's need an equal buff to their system too, while turning their "gadgets" into their gauge ability's.
Since I'm currently playing GU I have to say that I only use prowler for gathering quests since the have infinite picks and bug nets plus they don't use items so more room in the inventory. I tried using it in hunts but I never got used to it plus palicos have like a million skill it's just too much headache, if they decide to bring prowler they definitely need to streamline those skills with how ambiguous skill descriptions are they really need to figure out a way to make them less complex and more compact.
i would love prowler to return. but i wouldn't say it as a new weapon type. i would pose it to be more like a character type with it's own set of weapons. personally i enjoyed the beast playstyle more and would actually love to play a prowler where his main weapon was just the claws. where you loose the boomerang but you gain a whole lot of mobility. the idea of flying around the monster acting like a mix of dual blades and insect glaive, while the monster is trying to hit you just felt fun.
i dont think it should be a weapon equivalent, i think it should be its own separate game mode, maybe like the tailrider safari, but you could choose to do take direct control of your palico or palimute and get better rewards.
You could also dig. Not sure why. It doesn't do anything, as far as I am concerned. I guess you could go behind the monster, pop out, and attack, but the animation is a bit too long for that. What is it for?
At my oppinion for all Monster hunter titels i played (F1, F2, FU, Tri, P3rd, GU, Rise... and a little bit of World...) the best gameplay stiles are: 1 place) Valor Great Sword 2 place) Prowler Mode By the way... since p3rd up to Rise im a Hunting Horn main, and my secundary weapon is the Bow... i dont like Great Sword but Valor GS takes the cake in meaning of gameplaye! And in MHGU is Prowler so much fun that it is my 3rd weapon of choice right behind my two Main weapons...
Honestly, the effective Way of playing Prowler is Boomerangspam. Its still Fun, never digged into the Set Building, and im pretty bad whit it, but its good.
Prowler was super fun and extremely viable. I did the quest "Advanced: out of a frying pan" only because of prowler mode. I couldn't even beat one of those monsters in that quest carting all 3 times as a regular hunter lmao
I remember trying to hunt Lagiacrus for the first time in Generations, and after more than one failed quest I switched to Prowler mode out of desperation ... I don't know if it was the acorns or just the overall practice, but we climbed that wall like a cat.
Oooooh, I like the way you think. It's always fun to see my Palico riding a Tailraider monster in Iceborne, and we see our Palico hop on our Palamute in the first Rise cutscene. Riding around and throwing boomerangs from the Palamute's back would be nuts.
I pawsitively love prowler mode, it had way more depth then most people gave it credit for, theyre glass cannons and probably the reason capcom has our palicos ai's to mostly dumb and only help sometimes. Cats can do a ton of damage from afar, keep people alive for most of the hunt, spam traps like its no tomorrow amoung a ton of other things. I personally hop to gog that this mode returns in a future game.
For Rise i was hoping for Prowler mode, but then to be able to have a dog companion still. Something about playing as a cat while riding a dog just seemed right.
Definitely enjoyed prowler mode in GU, and still do to this day. Really hope it comes back eventually, would even main it if I could for a first playthrough haha.

somewhat unrelated, i always thought that WoW missed an opportunity with having a class based around throwing weapons. and for the same reasons you stated, it could be a fluid mix of melee and ranged. id be excited to see something like that in MH
One thing I will say is that if the prowler returns then we'd need a palamute class. They're meant to be side companions (especially for single player). If prowler becomes a 15th class then there'd be no need for normal companion palico's. I personally dont want it to return. Its in generations to honour palico's being our catty friends for years. If its added perminantly, it devalue's what it means to have a palico. Generations can go absurd and have this since it celebrates the franchise. But in a more serious setting like world, it'd just seem out of place.
I like the gameplay for prowler but I did feel like it needed a lot of setup for them to be good. It doesn't help that a lot hunters in Genu never join hubs if you play as them.
They could do a whole squad prowler set up where you play as the cat or dog. And have the cats and dogs following the leader like a makeshift tailrider play style or is that just me maybe mods since it's gonna have a pc port. Im super excited for more monster hunter. And more pro and noob maybe with a full squad some day

I loved prowler mode I even did a prowler only run in GU and it is better than my regular hunter run, my cats have such great luck with the drops

So it possible to get a Purr and Mewb of only prowler mode hunts
I'd love to see this come back. Mostly because I have a friend who refuses to get any new Monster Hunter games until they do and I miss playing with him.
Prawler is so underrated it's insane, but ithink part of it is how complicated it is to mix mach a palico to make it op but when you do it's so good and strong boomerang focus palicos are op as hell just get a healer palico with the bomerang boosters the pricing and big boomerang not mega big you can also have it with mega, and your basically set
Prowler has an infinite use bug net and pickaxe, of course I've played with it.
Plus they just gather faster. Even if you have gathering skills
this almost makes me wonder if prowler was originally planned for rise, but was scrapped for some reason (maybe something to do with palamutes, maybe being able to switch weapons mid hunt) regardless it would have been a wonderful addition to the already amazing gameplay

I loved prowler. Would love to see it return. Honestly they could make an entire spin off game focused on a prowler/palamute story to expand their lore. Maybe some monster knocked out an entire village with spores or something and it is up to the buddies to step up and protect everyone.
I'd love to see this come back whether it be for Rise or future Monster Hunter game, i much prefer playing as a Palico than my own hunter, it'd be even cooler to be able to keep your pets during it (if you couldn't then) palico hunting party!
Playing as the cat or dog sounds like a fun idea
I played them quite a bit in gu and they were really fun, plus in multiplayer hubs they added some extra variety, sorta like different character races in an mmo, being a prowler just felt special.
Please capcom bring back prowler. It was so much fun.

I would love a rider/monstie style where you straight up fight mounted on a mini monster like in stories, because why not
Prowler is a ton of fun, great for newbies and veterans alike. You're not as strong as a Hunter for damage per hit, but you've got more than enough options to kick just as much butt as one and contribute to the hunt in so many useful ways. It's also just really cool to see the monsters even bigger than usual when you're a tiny, little kitty cat next to a hulking behemoth like Gammoth or Duramboros. I'm all for the mode coming back someday.
I've only ever played world but when i first found out about prowler mode, I've wanted to see it redone with the palico gadgets in world some like the shield and ballista being weapon choices while the other gadgets like the bombs or coral horn being parts of some class based system when playing as our feline friends.

Prowler is the reason I go back time and time again to play MHGU! Such a bad ass class that I wish would make a comeback.

prowler with both cats & dogs(not exact term, but still) would be good to return as well as that boomerang idea.
only issue i see is the palico system has been neutered so for it to return the full system needs coming back.
& if it does the palimute's need an equal buff to their system too, while turning their "gadgets" into their gauge ability's.
Since I'm currently playing GU I have to say that I only use prowler for gathering quests since the have infinite picks and bug nets plus they don't use items so more room in the inventory. I tried using it in hunts but I never got used to it plus palicos have like a million skill it's just too much headache, if they decide to bring prowler they definitely need to streamline those skills with how ambiguous skill descriptions are they really need to figure out a way to make them less complex and more compact.
Prower mode for the dogs would be awesome. now i want. no exceptions lol
Honestly being able to play both palimut and palico would be best thing around plus i think it be really fun.
One thing I loved doing as Prowler... When I saw enemy winding up powerful attack, I just outright went Whack-a-Mole Mode... Dived underground.
i would love prowler to return. but i wouldn't say it as a new weapon type. i would pose it to be more like a character type with it's own set of weapons. personally i enjoyed the beast playstyle more and would actually love to play a prowler where his main weapon was just the claws. where you loose the boomerang but you gain a whole lot of mobility. the idea of flying around the monster acting like a mix of dual blades and insect glaive, while the monster is trying to hit you just felt fun.

i dont think it should be a weapon equivalent, i think it should be its own separate game mode, maybe like the tailrider safari, but you could choose to do take direct control of your palico or palimute and get better rewards.
You could also dig. Not sure why. It doesn't do anything, as far as I am concerned. I guess you could go behind the monster, pop out, and attack, but the animation is a bit too long for that. What is it for?
I currently main prowler trap, and boomerang (in place where trap doesn't work)

At my oppinion for all Monster hunter titels i played (F1, F2, FU, Tri, P3rd, GU, Rise... and a little bit of World...) the best gameplay stiles are:
1 place) Valor Great Sword
2 place) Prowler Mode
By the way... since p3rd up to Rise im a Hunting Horn main, and my secundary weapon is the Bow... i dont like Great Sword but Valor GS takes the cake in meaning of gameplaye! And in MHGU is Prowler so much fun that it is my 3rd weapon of choice right behind my two Main weapons...

Honestly, the effective Way of playing Prowler is Boomerangspam.
Its still Fun, never digged into the Set Building, and im pretty bad whit it, but its good.

Prowler was super fun and extremely viable. I did the quest "Advanced: out of a frying pan" only because of prowler mode. I couldn't even beat one of those monsters in that quest carting all 3 times as a regular hunter lmao
I remember trying to hunt Lagiacrus for the first time in Generations, and after more than one failed quest I switched to Prowler mode out of desperation ... I don't know if it was the acorns or just the overall practice, but we climbed that wall like a cat.
I think prowler was my second most used weapon class in mhgen/genu.
Hopefully Capcom will bring back Prowler Mode in the G rank version of Rise.

What if the “prowler” is “riding prowler”? So, a combination of both a cat and dog with attacks based on the skills both have together.
Oooooh, I like the way you think. It's always fun to see my Palico riding a Tailraider monster in Iceborne, and we see our Palico hop on our Palamute in the first Rise cutscene. Riding around and throwing boomerangs from the Palamute's back would be nuts.
I pawsitively love prowler mode, it had way more depth then most people gave it credit for, theyre glass cannons and probably the reason capcom has our palicos ai's to mostly dumb and only help sometimes. Cats can do a ton of damage from afar, keep people alive for most of the hunt, spam traps like its no tomorrow amoung a ton of other things. I personally hop to gog that this mode returns in a future game.

For Rise i was hoping for Prowler mode, but then to be able to have a dog companion still.
Something about playing as a cat while riding a dog just seemed right.
Definitely enjoyed prowler mode in GU, and still do to this day. Really hope it comes back eventually, would even main it if I could for a first playthrough haha.
YES!!! I would love prowler mode in Rise!!! (And bring back poogies too!!!) … actually, if you play as prowler you should have the option to have a poogie as your palamute and rodeo into battle… it’s war pig time!
If they do bring prowlers back and include a palamute play style they better call it the howler

somewhat unrelated, i always thought that WoW missed an opportunity with having a class based around throwing weapons. and for the same reasons you stated, it could be a fluid mix of melee and ranged. id be excited to see something like that in MH

One thing I will say is that if the prowler returns then we'd need a palamute class.
They're meant to be side companions (especially for single player).
If prowler becomes a 15th class then there'd be no need for normal companion palico's.
I personally dont want it to return. Its in generations to honour palico's being our catty friends for years. If its added perminantly, it devalue's what it means to have a palico. Generations can go absurd and have this since it celebrates the franchise. But in a more serious setting like world, it'd just seem out of place.
I like the gameplay for prowler but I did feel like it needed a lot of setup for them to be good. It doesn't help that a lot hunters in Genu never join hubs if you play as them.
I would take an entire spinoff game based on prowler mode.

They could do a whole squad prowler set up where you play as the cat or dog. And have the cats and dogs following the leader like a makeshift tailrider play style or is that just me maybe mods since it's gonna have a pc port. Im super excited for more monster hunter. And more pro and noob maybe with a full squad some day
Bring back prowler mode! I want something like the Grimalkyne quests to come back and it would have been fun in world if I could have done that as my palico.
