@@Death88758 weight issues i would assume. unless you have ever thrown a grenade the average person wouldn't think they would be that heavy as hollywood and video games brainwash civilians into thinking it's lighter than a feather and can be thrown over 3 blocks away like a softball. best way i can get someone else to understand is to take a 1-2lb steel ball and see how many times you can throw it no less than 50 ft ( usual safe fragmentation radius ) before your arms tire out. now add a large enough magnet that will snap to and keep that grenade onto the surface and you increase that weight by a lot. it could also be due to the steel and iron shortages during that time. which iron is a main component used in magnets.

An example of "good in paper, but bad in practicality" it doesnt stick when the tank is wet, covered in mud or if thrown wrong ( the handle sometimes hit the tank first hence just falling of and not sticking) So soldiers need to get close to the tank in order to make it effective endangering their lives.

The glass ball contains a stabilizing agent and the explosive. Nitro blows up when compressed without that. The glass ball shatters and let's the explosive paste filled head flatten out on whatever it was thrown at. Gets better contact with the adhesive that way. It's an anti material weapon. Not a anti personal wrapon.

This thing could destroy a tank, thus why so huge.

Yeah the tanks used to have dirt and mud around which caused a lot of trouble for this. Mainly they used it to stick to tracks and disable the tank.
Not to mention who would willingly run up to a enemy tank in most situations most likely has infantry support

Theres no field manual that says to do this and no record of it ever happening in real life. The sticky grenade is one of the most iconic grenades. It was used in ww2 by Britain as an anti tank Grenade. They were to bulky and expensive to carry around so they got rid of them
@@nickspanlopis9342 the thing the saving private Ryan shows ain't a sticky grenade, well, not by design, it was improvised on the field. This on the other hand is a proper sticky grenade. Besides, the movie's sticky grenades were normal anti-infantry grandes which meant they could damage things like the tracks (which they targeted) but couldn't be used to completely destroy a tank. This thing could destroy a tank, thus why so huge.

Using nitro glycerine on the inside is so risky. One accidental drop and you are done.

@@torinjones3221 nitroglycerin is susceptible to any amount of shock it’s extremely unstable. If it was to be dropped even if the glass didn’t break it could still go off
