That's a very nice setup, way beyond what I'd expect for a college commuter-he's a lucky kid to have you in his corner.
We need a review from him after some miles! 😉
Good 👍 👍 👍 👍
We should all be so lucky to have an uncle who can put together such a slick bike from his shop!
Good 👍 👍 👍 👍
I did a campus commuter bike for my law partner’s son out of an old Cannondale mountain bike frame from the 90s. 1x9, big, plush 26” slicks, etc. It was perfect.
Nice! 🤘
I am so happy you showed the box clutter, it made my mess feel less out of the ordinary :)
Excellent bike setup!
Takes me back to my college bike. Was a 1990 MTB full rigid with cantilever brakes and 3x7 index gears. Kept it for 30 years and changed every single part except fork before it got stolen.
Should had added a rear rack which I find essential for a commuter bike 😅
Dope build and good luck to your nephew at college! I rode a ratty steel 1970s drop-bar bike with 2x7 gearing around campus circa 2010 and it didn't get stolen, which was nice. 25 or 28mm tires, I forget.
I live in a college town. I see a lot older steel frame road bikes being used as commuter bikes. Being in Wisconsin, I see a lot of old Treks.
This is awesome! Great job!
1:39 That satisfying sound when tire is properly seated on the rim!
Lucky nephew! Sick build man!I'd commute the hell out of that thing. To work where I take it inside.😂
He needs a good lock too. You should build a bike that looks ratty, but works and rides well. Something a thief would pass up.
What a generous gift!
Bike lock a must on college campus
💯
Awesome Posseidon city bike build,it would have made an excellent gravel bike build to with GRX.💯👌🏻🚴♀️
Cool bike !
Very nice!! Saudações do Brasil, São Paulo!!!
Great Bike..
Job well done
Great uncle! 👍
Loved it.😊
That’s an expensive campus bike. Great uncle!!
i wouldn't call it low key. but that's a really nice bike.. I use triplecranks on everything still.. maybe a compact double would be better here.. looks like an OEM build which is appealing
2005 trek 7300fx disc/ 2021 norco indie 4 deore-surly fork mod./ 96 rocky mountain disc conversion 650b/700c mullet..
I had an OPUS Zermatt previously and would give them the #1 spot as commuter bike where available
I've been looking for a lower priced all-rounder for commuting and light gravel and trail riding. I'm vacillating between the Redwood and the State Bicycles 4130.
Just posted a state 6061 video a couple days ago.
It may help you
My commuter is a very similar style with more budget parts great for commuting
Needs a rack, lights and a lock.
no rack/basket tho?
Nice bike, but after all that you could've put some new tires
That's way to nice for a college commuter.
Interesting 😎💯
Too nice of a bike for college unless it’s locked up inside when not in use. Having a hooptie cruiser is a better option, speaking from experience.
Fingers crossed. He’s still got it after the 1st semester, so I call it a win
Good 👍 👍 👍 👍
Too much sauce with the panaracer tan walls 🍝😂
😄 Too saucy? I had a slick Sirrus in college. Always locked, and kept inside apt when not in use. Never stolen.
You should add a front rack to this, simple front rack goes A LONG way.
Can u tell me the crankset size please?
Length? 170mm
is it safe to put a front rack on that?
Definitely
Commuter bikes need fenders. Otherwise, awesome re-use of the parts bin.
Not as necessary in Southern California, but if I had any, I would’ve installed!
@@TheBikeSauce years ago, BikeSnobNYC told us that any puddle might be rain, or it might be urine... So he advocate md for fenders bc "it's probably urine." And i felt that in my soul
@@fatrobdouble 😆😆 touché
@@TheBikeSauce i love your channel, by the way. You have interesting tutorials and your explications are great. Succinct yet thorough, and you make everything clear thru both carefully chosen words and highly effective camera angles. I'm talking more about your channel on general than this particular video...
waaaaay too flashy for a college commuter. Just the 38C gravelkings alone (including the wheelset) are too much ;). You'd need a proper rustbucket - 1speed, coaster to make it real unattractive to thieves. But I do hope it's not gonna get stolen ofc. 🤞
I see people riding full susp marins around campus these days. Not sure why people think college students are still riding rolling tetanus when most students aren't living on campuses
@@cjohnson3836 which college is this at? I need a new bike 😜
dude, when you're working around a bike you look better than 90 of the other 'dream build' fools on youtube.
Ha! Too kind
hmm, without fenders and rack(s) it can't be the "perfect" commuter... and lights... and where is the lock going to be carried....?
Can I be your nephew too? 😅
What was the single speed hub conversion kit you were using? Thinking about converting my stormchaser
Just a single cog and a bunch of cassette spacers from Amazon.
(uses a Poseidon Redwood as a base for a campus bike; adds to time in Purgatory) 🫤
