Boating Basics - Leaking Water System Repair
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 тра 2019
- After launching the boat this Spring, one of the recommissioning projects is flushing and filling the fresh water system. After running the water pump for awhile, I found that there was not a lot of pressure, plus the water that was coming out of the faucets was sputtering with lots or air in the lines.
An investigation of all the water lines revealed that there was water leaking from around the pressure pump. Given the fact that it was difficult to reach - plus it was late in the evening by that point - I was unable to see exactly where the problem was, so figured it could be the pump itself causing the problems and picked up a new one just in case it needed replacing. Fortunately, when I did climb into the bilge the following day, the ultimate culprit was determined to be a split fitting. Luckily, I was able to find the replacement parts I needed at a local hardware store and fixed everything up. Pump turned on, I flushed the air out of the water lines and we now have a stable, regular flow out of the faucets.

Known as the best fresh water cruising grounds in the world, Georgian Bay is located in the heart of the Great Lakes and forms part of Lake Huron. Renowned for is rugged beauty, Georgian Bay has been attracting adventurous boaters for over a century, but it's rocky shoreline and challenging navigation routes are not for the faint hearted and must be approached with the greatest care and respect. I'm happy to share our own adventures through this inspiring area with my 'Georgian Bay Boating' Playlist here: • Georgian Bay Boating

Looks like a very tight spot, but you make it look easy Paul. The water pump on AMFM is at the water tank in the bow. Much more accessable! Great to see a new video. I'll be rewatching the replacement of the hatch seal this weekend. You'll never guess why!
You'll be happy to have done that little project. One less drip potential to worry about on the boat. 👍
Thanks again, do indeed appreciate all of the good and useful tips and information!
Most welcome. I'm no expert, but figure that someone might get a helpful bit of insight now and then. If nothing else, these videos should help with an overview of what a project looks like.
I'll be sharing a few more coming up over the next few weeks, so stay tuned . . .
Just getting into our first "big boat." Thankful for your videos! 2000 sea ray 270 sundancer
Great! I try to share all of the repairs I do on our #boat, so hopefully there's a few more tips and insights that you'll find helpful.
Thanks for the Info, hope you and anchor girl can do an overnight soon.
Soon enough, as I still have a few more projects to get done on Boogaboo before we resume our cruising adventures. That said, we're hoping for another long Epic Cruise this summer & I'm already charging my camera batteries ;-)
Should have gone to the marine store and got a quick connect barb firing for the pump. I got a spare that I added to a length of hose, to winterized the system I drain the tank with the pump then remove the intake from the pump and install the new fitting with the hose. Stick the hose in the jug of anti freeze and pump through the taps.
Cruising With Ranger Tug Wanderer I did the same thing at my city water inlet and at the outlet of the fresh water tank....
Why aren't your hoses double clamped?🤔😳🤔
Do the 330s have a connection for dockside water so that you can bypass the tank?
Ours does, yes. Never use it though.
Where is it located
Hi there, the Teflon tape are sucks, after period of time its will leak, I recommend the liquid teflon is much better strong sealing long lasting can resist the evaporation
Teflon is not a water seal anyway, it is simply lubrication. What seals is the tightness of the connection.
I own a 1997 330, my question is, if the batteries are dead how can you open the engine hatch.
I've been asked that a lot, so I put a post on my Blog to help answer your question. A pretty simple solution, actually. Here ya go; boatingwithboogaboo.blogspot.com/2022/10/emergency-engine-hatch-opening-sea-ray.html
That is freeze damage Paul...hope there is no more in the system? :-O
It looked like that, but entire system was full of antifreeze. No damage elsewhere. Probably a cheap fitting 🙄
Should double clamp any hose coming from the outside.
Water inside the fitting froze
