    The thing that amazes me with your talent, is that at the start of the painting, I can't see where you are going with it, and then at some point it transforms into this absolutely entrancing painting! You have such talent! Thank you for sharing these amazing videos.

    I have been painting in watercolor for about year and a half and I stumbled on your channel. I had never used a hake brush and ordered one after watching you and Lois Davidson. I am excited to get better with it and I love how skies come out with the hake!

    • @StevenCronin

      Yes the hake is a wonderful brush and I I wouldn't be without it. It certainly inspired me to try watercolors. I like how it covers the paper quickly. I wish you all the best with your painting. Let me know how you get on

    I love how you paint! Its a joy to watch. But please could you try to explain your reasoning for each action like you did for the smaller clouds near the horizon?

    • @StevenCronin
      @StevenCronin  2 роки тому

      To be honest Diane, most of the time there's no specific reason for doing what I'm doing - I paint by instinct without really thinking about it. Sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn't but thanks for watching and best wishes.

    Stephen i have only just started painting at the late age of 67, not saying I’m finding it easy because its not but you guys make it look so easy and inspiring. Personally I’m finding mixing paint the hard bit, but i love the way you use so few colours and end up with such fantastic results. Sorry to have to tell you i hit the dislike button by mistake, i wanted to see what the four people before me didn’t like but it doesn’t tell you (i did say i was getting on in years lol). Stay safe man.

    • @StevenCronin
      @StevenCronin  3 роки тому +1

      Regarding the dislikes, it's amazing what some people want for nothing but that's life I guess! Glad you've finally started after all these years. It's never too late. Keep practising and you'll get there. Best of luck and let me know how you get on. Best wishes

    Hi Steve. When you set the colours on your palette do you empty all the tube?

    • @StevenCronin
      @StevenCronin  3 роки тому

      no, just enough to fill that section of the palette and allow to dry overnight. Cheers Jim

    Nice work..you need to know that reflections dont come straight down in water, except in center..on the left and right sides
    They would come angled slightly toward you, thats how the physics are

    • @StevenCronin
      @StevenCronin  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for your comments Chris. To be honest I made the boats up so would have to study what they look like in real life. I need to paint Outdoors more often really. Best wishes and happy painting

      @@StevenCronin ...you will look next time youre on the water, and be amazed and delighted...no matter which way you look those reflections are coming right to YOU! But not shadows, their buddy is the sun...now back to learning to paint like YOU!
