Pentiment was such a fantastic experience, it really shows how much an excellent art direction and awesome writing can elevate a game despite its low budget.
Really great video. You are able to objectively summarize pros and cons of games in a matter of minutes, but also deep dive into description of each. Congratulations.
Just wanted to say , Mortismal. I discovered your channel yesterday , when i was looking for games to play during my vacations after i completed wartales and underrail. And after listening to a few reviews , i instantly subbed. I also wanted to thank you. You, sir, are a living encyclopedia of every games i enjoy playing and because , you , basically exist , you just saved me alot of time in figuring the next game i would play. I settled on Weird west , followed by Rome Expedition. Thank you.
I honestly was not expecting #1 (and your review definitely influenced my purchase on it) and I also immensely enjoyed it. Great video! Great channel too :D
i am honestly more amazed by the fact that you managed to play 61 games in one year, especially since some of them are pretty long. Eden Ring alone took me i thin 1-2 months to finish,
I found your channel completely randomly when searching for an oldie game that you seemed to have reviewed (I don't remember the name exactly) and to which not a lot of videos existed. It truly was the greatest find of the year for me, I first was impressed by the level of dedication (100% a game is still really impressive to me) and the level of granularity in the reviews. You have been working hard and it shows, congrats on this year! I have a few questions however, if you feel like answering, otherwise I wish you a happy holidays and great things to come! Here are my questions (hopefully you haven't answered them before) * how do you manage to fight boredom while playing? Things that are repetitive in a game tend to disengage me really fast * when playing a CRPG or TRPG for the first time, do you get in, thinking about what game you played had a similar gameplay and build on that or do you try as much as possible to get in with a clear slate of game mechanics lexicon and learn what the game can offer? * and last but not least, do you play one game at a time or do you have several you switch to, until completion? Thank you again for your time and dedication, love the videos love the channel, take care!

It's a stunning accomplishment. I can't wait to see what else you've got in the pipeline. Overall, my takeaway is that 2022 was actually a little better for RPG gaming than a lot of people give it credit for. Even going from worst to best, the list got into what I'd consider the "good stuff" fairly quickly! (My own list would probably see Tactics Ogre take the top spot, with Hard West 2 a close second.)

Solid year of gaming and amazing that you 100% these games the way you do. I'd like to put out the suggestion for Roadwarden on steam, especially if you can get it on sale. It's almost entirely text based, but it fits into your seeming fondness for choice mattering and many different ways to get things done. It's been a big hit for me in the last few weeks.
Kinda blown away, in a good way, about your number 1 pick. I had wanted to check it out, and this was the impetus I needed to pick it up on the steam sale. Show this comment to companies to get review copies, lol.
I realy need to say: That you as a youtuber are as good as it can get. So much information and more or less the same interest of games is amazing. By the way: play Gothic the night of the Raven - my Top Game beside of Vampire the Masquerade. The German Voice Acting is great, but i know that this is not the case for the English version - But still Gothic DNDR gonna be one of the best games you have ever played.

Great list! Expeditions Rome also took my top spot. Wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did but the combat, story, art direction and quality of voice acting and music - just all really really good.
Ghost of Tsushima pretty much consumed me for several months in 2022. It's one of the very few games I would rate 10/10. Can't think of a way to make it much better.
By the way: does anyone know if there's some kind of hack to disable camera panning when the cursor reaches the screen border? It's infuriating on a Steam Deck!
Thanks for all your info! Have you ever thought about doing full recorded playthroughs of games? I would love to see you do 100% or completionist style runs on some of these CRPGs because you know so much. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
Awesome list man! Makin me think about giving Andromeda another shot (my original file corrupted 🙄). Also *checks size of ranking list* how are you still breathing 😂😂 i dont know anybody creating content like this. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 Anyway, Merry Christmas!
The crazy thing is 61 games reviewed annually is averaging over one game per week, or 5 games per month. It takes me over a month to 100% a single CRPG. lol Then he mentions yet more games he 100% completed that he hasn't done videos for. Don't burn out, Mortismal! You're one of the best on UA-cam because you 100% the game BEFORE speaking about how good/bad its qualities are. As a 100% gamer, I appreciate that. It is hard to know what is quality with fanboys and shills flooding UA-cam and social media.
Honestly I don't know how you manage to get through so many games in one year, with 100% achievements. If I complete 4 games in a year I consider it a good year, and while it's not my job, I do spend many hours playing video games. Take Elden Ring for example. It's rare for me to buy a new game, but I picked it up straight away in February (?). I spent many hours playing the same character, and I didn't finish until June. I guess I am just very slow.
Hey dude, been following for a while since I like knowing what new CRPGs are worth trying and we seem to have similar tastes. One game that came out this year that you might really like is Roadwarden. Probs my GOTY personally, the soundtrack is great and the writing is fantastic. Idk, figured I'd throw a rec into the void and hope it reaches ya.
Great video. So glad I found your channel. Based on some of your commentary here, you may want to explore the games made by Soldak Entertainment. It's possible that some of them are up your alley, so to type.
Cool to see Fallout 1 make it as high as it did on your list. It remains one of my favorite games of all time, I just love how it's packed with interesting places/people and the options you have to complete stuff your way. I still prefer it to Fallout 2 Elden Ring is my goty, I played the heck out of that game and am still highly entertained by it.
Love the list. You can tell you took your preferences seriously and didnt just follow ratings online. Personally getting through expeditions:rome now and loving it. Would recommend Nobody Saves the World as an underrated gem if you find time in your list. Writing and world building is pretty great and the combat is interesting enough to keep going for an ARPG.

(LOL) Thanks for your videos! p.s. But it has a lot of skill progression mechanics to it for sure, and RPG is also present among the 3 or 4 genres listed in the game description, if you look it up on GOG or Steam.

Great ranking. I need to have a look at Expeditions: Rome soon. I appreciate you including Jade Empire and also all Mass Effect titles. To me the Mass Effect trilogy is one of the best RPGs in the century. Especially with how the game decisions from earlier parts have an impact on the later parts. Sure, not all consequences are so heavy, but for me a few decisions did influence the way I felt and decided later. I feel sorry for the Krogan, but if I hadn't done this mistake in part 2, I would have made a different decision in part 3... (I could have decided differently, but...) Aaanyway, great video. Keep up the great work! Thank you, Mortim, and have a nice X-Mas!
I played 19 games this year and that's less than 1/3 of what you are played and reviewed this year. I really want to thank you for all this efforts and also for not putting Elden Eing or Gow on the top of your list like everyone else :) Finally someone that have some taste and not one that copy paste the opinions of others, only because these are mainstream.
I played Elden Ring and had a blast with it but I love souls games so not a surprise that I love this one I also got my hands on Pathfinder wotr it was this year or last...I don't remember exactly but I discover your channel and Slandered gaming thanks to that game great game overall the main campain, expecially the ascension ending didn't spoke to me AT ALL so twisted it felt bullshit I tried Stellaris because I had some leftover money and it seems to have a lot of stuff going on with a lot of alien species but it was absolutely NOT my area of games and that made me laugh a lot 🤣 I've played Rogue lords which is a roguelike game where you play evil figures (like Dracula, Bloody Mary, Baron Samedi etc) that serves you, the devil and your job is to bring despair and misery upon humanity as you reclaim your powers this was super fun unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to unlock some characters which...really got on my nerves but the game is really cool and I STRONGLY suggest this to people Merry christmas 😊😊
I would like to see you do a review of Sword Coast Legends, i think its a good game for what it is rather than what was supposed to be that most reviews claimed back when it was relased.
Great list. Those I haven't played are part of my backlog. Hadn't realized that you thought so well of Wierd West; think I'm gonna move it to the top of my backlog. While I'm here and we're on subject may I respectfully make a couple of suggestions? The third Fallout game (Fallout Tactics) was also a good game and is readily available still on Steam. I would also suggest the Dishonored series which, although not rpg's in conventional sense, do offer a lot of choice with attendant consequence and some of the best gameplay ever. Lastly, have you ever looked into the Banner Saga trilogy? Excellent crpg's (trpg's? I get the designations mixed up. Onset of senility no doubt.) In any case, had a great time watching vid. Have good holidays

8: Retrospectives on historical periods in RPGs (e.g., RPGs of the 2000-2005)
9: Difference between narrative / trpg / CRPG (in your opinion)

Merry Christmas!!
Woohoo! So glad that Neverwinter Nights 2 is in the Top 10! I love this game so much! Hope you have an amazing year man! :)
I played 19 games this year and that's less than 1/3 of what you are played and reviewed this year.
I really want to thank you for all this efforts and also for not putting Elden Eing or Gow on the top of your list like everyone else :)
Finally someone that have some taste and not one that copy paste the opinions of others, only because these are mainstream.
I played Elden Ring and had a blast with it
but I love souls games so not a surprise that I love this one
I also got my hands on Pathfinder wotr
it was this year or last...I don't remember exactly but I discover your channel and Slandered gaming thanks to that game
great game overall
the main campain, expecially the ascension ending didn't spoke to me AT ALL
so twisted it felt bullshit
I tried Stellaris because I had some leftover money and it seems to have a lot of stuff going on with a lot of alien species
but it was absolutely NOT my area of games
and that made me laugh a lot 🤣
I've played Rogue lords
which is a roguelike game where you play evil figures (like Dracula, Bloody Mary, Baron Samedi etc) that serves you, the devil
and your job is to bring despair and misery upon humanity as you reclaim your powers
this was super fun
unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to unlock some characters which...really got on my nerves
but the game is really cool and I STRONGLY suggest this to people
Merry christmas 😊😊
Really great channel. Thanks for all the work!
I would like to see you do a review of Sword Coast Legends, i think its a good game for what it is rather than what was supposed to be that most reviews claimed back when it was relased.
I don’t understand how you able to release videos every day
But keep it up 🙏🏻
Would like to see you review Valkyria Chronicles and Resonance of Fate
It brings me joy to see Tactics Ogre rated so high.
