    I just found your channel about a week ago, and I have been binge watching. I'll be 38 in a few days and I have found in the last couple years my skin has been changing, and I have been having a hard time finding products that will work for me. I'm also pretty new to makeup, well foundation at least. In my 20s I only used eye products and lipstick. As I age I need to cover up some discoloration and age spots. Your channel as been so helpful!

    Wonderful video, Gemma! A tip I thought you might find interesting: Everyone not only needs to be wearing a minimum SPF 30, but make sure to be wearing ENOUGH amount-wise to reach the SPF protection labeled on the bottle which comes to 2 mg per square cm of skin per dermatologists. (This has to do with how companies test levels of SPF & make those determinations.) On average, that would be around 1 teaspoon to cover the face, head, & front of the neck. Otherwise, if only applying a third of that amount, it takes SPF protection to only a third of the number on the bottle. Go figure!
    Also, I just started last month using the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream (in the big white tub) to moisturize at night, & love it! I'm combo-oily skintype, & no issues with breakouts. In fact, I feel it has helped tremendously in helping to heal rosacea-related acne lesions. I've never tried anything from The Ordinary, but am about to order their azelaic acid suspension to help with the rosacea breakouts. I understand it's also good for acne. Best of all, so affordable! Thank you for all your wonderful recommendations & sharing your routine! 😊 💖 👍🏻 🌷

      Hi, I have another video that outlines the importance of how much spf is needed on the skin to make the rating valid. I perhaps should have mentioned this though. I use factor 50 every day, however I do vary the quantity of product I use depending on the weather. At the moment the factor I'm probably getting will be about 15. xxx

    Hi Gemma! Like your mum, I've purchased the Cerave Hydrating Face Cleanser to put that bottle in the shower when I start that routine. I still use the BM Cleansing Oil however, I have that one on my sink for use when not in the shower. I really like the Cerave Hydrating. I also purchased the No7 Eye Wrinkle/Fine Line Serum at my local Walgreens. I had run out of my former brand of Meaningful Beauty eye wrinkle cream for my fine lines so I remembered you said you liked those products too. I used them today in the morning & felt fine going on, so we'll see if I get nice results from it. Love the tip of using the Cerave Lotion on my lips! My lippie wrinkles on my actual lips are completely gone. Yay! I never had any lines around my lips thankfully. But the rest of my daytime & nighttime routines are the same with the exception of not using The Ordinary Plant Derived Squalane. I stopped using that one as I felt it never sank in my skin at night & my pillow received all of the benefits of that. Yuck! 🤗✌❤🤪😜xxx

    This was so helpful in many ways! The best tip was the proper order of serums, cream, and oils. I was doing oils before cream thinking the cream would "seal" the oil to my skin. Rookie mistake! Now I know why I was getting disappointed with my results. Does that order also apply to when you put on eye cream as part of the moisturizing routine? I typically only use eye cream around my eyes and want to make sure my order is correct. Thank you so much for all your efforts. I find you quite enjoyable to watch and seem consistently to get a really good take away from your videos.

    • @PamperedWolf
      @PamperedWolf 5 років тому

      Hi Cheryl, yes it does apply to both. If you just have a bog standard moisturiser that is basically there to seal in products then you can use that last, as you don't want it to penetrate into the skin....but if your cream has active ingredients that you want to sink into the skin then applying them before oil is a must xxx

    I just received all the Ordinary prducuts from your “favourite list” that you released last year (yes, I’m a little late in finding you :D). A few items such as the caffeine, AHA toner, granactive retinoid and Vit C suspension didn’t make the cut for your current regimen. Did you find that these new products work better for you now vs. the Ordinary? Thanks again for all your recommendations!!

    • @PamperedWolf
      @PamperedWolf 5 років тому +4

      I don't feel the need for caffeine anymore as I don't suffer with puffiness in a morning. The AHA toner is fabulous and sometimes I do go back to using that instead of the lactic acid. They are both as good as one another. Now my skin is desensitised from retinoids every once in a while you have to increase the strength of the retinoid. Unfortunately although The Ordinary do a 1% retinol, it comes in Squalane and it doesn't suit my skin. The vitamin C Suspension is excellent but gave me skin congestion. I wish it had worked because my current vitamin C cream is £70!
      Hope you enjoy your products xxx

    • @PamperedWolf

      Hi Catherine, I use an AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) as my exfoliator and I now use this daily. When I first started using the product I used it 2-3 times a week to make sure I built up my skin's tolerance to the product. The AHA I use is Lactic Acid 5%.
      Regards your Liz Earle Exfoliator, I LOVE Liz Earle products, However, I'm not a huge fan of granular exfoliators. I prefer an acid. The Liz Earle exfoliator is not overly abrasive though, so I doubt it will cause any skin damage unless you are rough when applying it xxx

  • @extenebrislux
    @extenebrislux 5 років тому +1

    Great video! FYI in the list of products in the description you're missing the Ordinary Lactic Acid, in the evening routine. Also, I was told you're supposed to apply any product upwards on your neck and jawline, if you do it downwards you help gravity drag down your skin with time. I've noticed a few of the products listed have phenoxyethanol, or PEG, or cyclopentasiloxane in them and I'd like to know your thoughts on skin/makeup products with organic ingredients vs. synthetic ingredients (i.e. petrolatum, parabens, silicone,...). A video on the subject would be cool I think :)

My favourite pamper session is oil cleanse to remove makeup etc, a clay mask for ten minutes followed by The Ordinary Aha + BHa peeling solution for 10 mins. Clean that off and apply serums then slap on a Sheet Mask for 30 mins. At the end of that i feel like the bees knees ( whatever that feels like) and my skin feels so clean, hydrated and soft. Wow Gemma... so much information! I love your thoroughness on all topics. A testament to your knowledge! I have found this very helpful and educational, but wonder.... so many chemicals. Anyway - I have only just started using face/neck products to help with moisture, age spots and thin skin. (I'm 60) - just curious as to your thoughts on chemical aspect.

    • @PamperedWolf
      @PamperedWolf 5 років тому

      I don't think we should be worried about this. Chemicals are sometimes better for our skin than natural. Natural isn't always best. xxx

    You mentioned that when using the peptides to go slow or your skin gets dry. Unfortunately I had already started before I found you so now I have more dry spots than I ever had. I am 60 and post menopausal so I dont need need any more dryness than what I already have. Any tips on what to do to remedy until my face gets used to it? I love your videos and your explanations really click with my analytical academic mind! ❣

    • @PamperedWolf
      @PamperedWolf 5 років тому +1

      It's not peptides that dry out the skin, it's retinol and AHA+BHA that can be aggressive if you jump in with both feet. If you use a retinol, start using it on alternate nights and water it down with a little moisturising lotion until you've built up your skin's tolerance top the active ingredients.
      The CeraVe moisturising lotion and cream for dry/very dry skin is amazing. It incorporates Hyaluronic Acid which hydrates the skin, and also ceramides which help repair your skins barrier and help lock in moisture. xxx

    As always a great video packed with lots of information and great tips. I’ll definitely be getting the Ordinary products - had one of them in the past and was really happy with it and wanted to get more but didn’t know which ones and how to use them - now I know - thank you so much! I also used to use Bare Minerals oil too until I discovered Sister & Co oil and love it so much more. Just wonder if you heard about it?

      So have I. £50 worth in two separate orders and looking to purchase more... not so cheap if you go crazy like that!
      I decided to order the Matrixyl instead of the Buffet (as recommended by Gemma) and it has not been great so far; shame as I ordered two bottles of the stuff! It gives me an itchy feeling on my face all day and I have tiny break outs on may forehead, temples and lower cheeks. My skin is NOT at all prone t break outs so this is such shame. Looking back I wish I had bought the Buffet instead but hey...
      It has been only two days so I will continue to use it to allow a "purge" period. I hope it sorts itself out because I have loads more products on the way.

      Are you only applying 2 drops? A little goes a very long way....If you apply too much the mixer dries on the surface of the skin and will pill all day. xxx

      @@PamperedWolf Oh, hi! I wasn't expecting a reply from the PW herself 😊 . Yes, only two drops. the problem wasn't peeling but tiny break outs, but I think my skin is adjusting now. I have introduced A WHOLE LOT to my skin care routine (AM & PM) after watching mega-zillions of video reviews for The Ordinary.
      A totally new experience for someone who's beauty regime consisted of cleaning & moisturiser at best! Now I have a shelf full of products and a carefully crafted routine which I'm following both excitedly and religiously. Too early to give a verdict yet but I'm loving it. Thanks for the advice 👍🏽

    If you don't feel like splurging on the bareMinerals cleansing oil, you can try the Camomile Cleansing Oil from The Body Shop. Great formula, delicate scent, works great and it's half the price for 200ml (20 extra mls compared to the 180ml bareMinerals one).

    Very helpful. You use the retinol and Lactic acid every night? I need to work up to every night for both types of products. I have a 10% glycolic lotion that stings, so I definitely don’t do it every night. I also have different strengths of retinol, as well as retin-a. My problem is I’m not consistent because I’m afraid I’ll burn my skin (I’ve overdone it so many times and the dryness ages me). I wasn’t sure if you could layer aha and retinol - I’ve seen people do them on alternating nights, but it’s probably to prevent irritation. I’ve heard vitamin C and niacinimide should be used separately, however, I’ve recently heard that the myth that retinol and vitamin C shouldn’t be used together isn’t true, in fact they can boost each other. You’ve probably mentioned some of this but I can’t remember everything (I wish I could).

    • @PamperedWolf
      @PamperedWolf 5 років тому

      I have worked up to using all of the products nightly very gradually. You're correct, vitamin c and retinol can work well together xxxx

    Wow we have virtually identical morning routine. Only difference is the cleansing oil and I've now swapped out the No 7 lip care in favour of Burts Bees. Also alternate vitamin C and retinol products in evenings though still trialling to find my Holy Grail. I'll probably end up giving trentinoin a go, wrong side of my 40's !!!

    Hi Gemma, just to let you and your viewers know that the particular La Roche Posay sunscreen spoken of in this video (which is awesome) is unavailable in the US due to the particular chemical (Trizazones or Triazenes) they use for the UVB (I think). HOWEVER, we can purchase it through sites like amazon uk. It costs a little more due to customs, blah, blah, blah, and it takes about 4 weeks to arrive. The one we can get here is great, but the one you mentioned is superior.

    When you compare the Bioeffects EGF to getting a salon facial the price gets a lot better in a hurry. Amazon has it for $165.00 USD. A Facial at our local Salon is $90.00 USD plus gratuity. [Betcha that's cheap compared with the cost in a major city. . . I live in a very small town] So comparatively the Bioeffects EGF gets a little more accessible.
