Advice for Starting Out With a New Horse - Q&A

Question: What advice do you have for starting out with a new horse? She's a derby-aged reiner, so she’s a pretty "finished" horse and she has no behavioral issues, no vices, or anything like that. What exercises or routines would be recommended just to build rapport with a new horse?

Doing this with my new mare! Worked wonders! Having to continue to rewatch the series as I fumble with my tools (first time horse owner and first time training a horse though I've ridden for years)

Thank you Clinton. I think you are one of the BEST no-nonsense, no BS foo-foo frills trainers out there. Women at my barn turn up their noses at you, but NONE of them are comfortable riding their own horses, but they sure are all about horse treats, pink saddles, and bling. Your method is the best. There are TONS of copy-cats out there I've noticed now, they just take your method and add their brand of artificial sweetener to disguise the fact they are copying you. I use your method and my horse is the best trained and safest horse there. They can go "play" with their horses, I RIDE.
