First heard this recording as B side to Make Me Smile in 1975 when I was 16. Blown away. Remember playing it on a juke box at a half way house on the way back from first lads holiday in Scarborough. Everyone else thought it was terrible. No accounting for taste. I bought the single and still have it to this day.
@lionbeograd Wrong, lave beogradski, One of the best live performances i've ever heard. I had a single with this version (I think it's from Hammersmith Odeon). B-side was Mr. Raffles (Man It Was Mean). My baby brother ruined it and I've been looking for this version ever since. Been to a concert (1977?) in Banjaluka. Only 200 people, but I still remember it.
I had this version back in the day, as b-side on a single. But because it was so long the production was very quiet. Any attempt to put it on a cassette tape failed due to hiss etc. Now it's available as part of an expensive 3cd/1dvd package. The reviews sound promising enough but to be honest, I was never really a fan of the band. I liked a handful of their songs and thought 'Sebastan' and this version in particular exceptional. At that price though, it's a real dilemma. Thankfully, I now know where to find it (on UA-cam)
The best song ❤
My most favourite song R.I.P. Steve Harley.
