The Swedes have been incinerating for years, even importing trash from European countries -- the revenue is impressive, and it provides an acceptably clean energy source.
Loved this! Thank you for sharing this beach clean up and the organization behind it. It’s cool to see an alternative to sending beach trash into the landfill.
This is really cool, Emma!!! So great that you did the beach cleanup with those awesome orgs, and such a worthy cause! 🐢 It was really interesting to learn more about incineration too👏
Love how many people went to actually clean that beach! That is encouraging to see so many people caring! :) I was wondering: what kind of trash did you find the most? Microplastics?
YES!! It gave me SO much hope!! There was everything from take out containers to masks to fishing equipment and even shoes and random odds and ends! EVerything gets left or washed onto the shores of Okinawa
The whole world needs to figure out what to do with plastic. It's insane how much we use!
Isn't it?! Recycling is meh, incinerating is meh, and landfill is terrible yet somehow it all ends up in the ocean!
