Bruce Springsteen - My Love Will Not Let You Down [Acoustic Cover]

My Love Will Not Let You Down is possibly the jewel in the crown of the Tracks box set but even I change my mind on that frequently.
I ended 2023 completing a goal I'd set for myself to cover a song from every Pearl Jam album and I'm starting 2024 by chasing the next one; one from every Bruce Springsteen album, including all four discs of Tracks, both discs of The Promise, the non album songs on the Greatest Hits and also iconic songs from all live albums and compilations. The stipulation I set myself is; if it has been released on vinyl then I have to include it so that includes Live in New York City, MTV Plugged and Live 75-85. A big uptake, so strap yourselves in.
I came to Bruce's music when I was 19 and even then I felt like I was way behind. A couple of friends of mine from United had been trying to get me to listen to him for years but I just hadn't found the time. The finer details of that are a long story that start in Manchester, via New Jersey and end in Charlotte, North Carolina of all places but I will tell that another day.
When I finally got Bruce, I got it bad. I was hooked, and I couldn't stop but I was determined to buy physical copies of each of his albums one by one (despite this being very outdated at the time) and listen to them holistically. One night before a Manchester United game at Old Trafford my mate Phil Fletcher says "you want to get the Tracks box set now, its amazing". I probably swore at him "FOUR DISCS?!!? F**K OFF!" but I trusted his advice and bought it. I couldn't believe it, Disc 2 especially.
I've seen My Love Will Not Let You Down live a couple of times and its always a favourite but the best version is from the start of Live in New York City. I wish I'd have seen Bruce on the reunion tour and that film/live album captures why. They were in love with music again, as a band. I love to play this song. I play it quite often when I pick up a guitar so I wanted to start a Bruce heavy few months with this. Because "I got me a promise that I ain't afraid to make".
