I dunno in other places, but at least in my country I remember it being not only hugely popular... But also sort of a "game-changer" to an extent. In a patriarchal and sexist society, it voiced things from a pretty neglected perspective. Especially coming from a woman that knew that burden first-hand. Checking Wikipedia now, it doesn't seem to have been THAT big back then in the US or Europe. Not as big as some of her other big hits, at least. So, I can see why you say "most underrated." Pity.
