That manual release in the back doors is nuts. Esp. since, more often than not, the kids will be in the back and having them do that in a emergency is just stupid!
I guess it’s the trade off between being hidden well enough so a kid can’t open the door on the move vs being accessible enough to get it open in an emergency 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for the video. I am taking delivery of my model Y tomorrow so I will take your advice. Good one about washing it. How many people wash a new car. I will see what condition it turns up in on the transporter 👍
Sad to here Tesla haven't improved the delivery issues. I know of cars delivered in 2021 with paint problems, alloys damaged, leaks, interior squeaks and panel gaps that were awful. Tesla dealers did fix the issues but why should they on a new car ? I looked at a Tesla Model 3 and it wasn't quite big enough in the rear cabin from my tall children. The Tesla salesman even stated the panel gaps on a car I would order would be better than the demo car because it would be built in China. I bought a Cupra Born V2 spec car as it was a lot cheaper at the time (June 2022) than the Tesla Model 3 Standard range and had more room in the cabin. My personal opinion is that the Cupra Born looks nicer than the Tesla Model 3. I just wish my car had half the available information a Tesla gives you as that is something no other manufacturer has even got close to equaling.
The delivery issues have got a lot better and I found the service centre visits really simple and convenient. Hopefully things will only continue to get better
Wow! I wonder if that’s a UK law. They used to give the mobile charger in the US but not anymore. All you get is the J1772 adapter and you even have to pay for the black license plate holder 😂
Strange to see CCS plug. Ford and GM decided to ditch CCS for the Tesla plug or NACS. Interesting if europe follows. Tesla plug smaller and less parts Vs male/female CCS
CCS is standard throughout Europe, before manufacturers got to design all different kinds it was standardised. A very good move. No need to ever carry adaptors throughout 20+ countries. Just a shame they didn’t standardise the charging architecture, I have more charging apps than you can shake a stick at 😂
Most Teslas coming into the UK at the moment seem fine and have no lesser quality than other brands I’ve had inc Mini, Audi, Jaguar… forget the old problems from the US factories. Most of that is gone. They are mostly fine.
Agreed, I’ve had very little fault with mine. The only thing I noticed that Tesla said was ‘within spec’ was paint missing behind the door shut on the A pillar. A friend of my from Nissan engineering said this was due to how the automation works in the Tesla plant and could do with some finesse
@@thercsev There's a reason Tesla are one of the only manufacturers who make money on EV's. If they spent more time correcting the issues on vehicles before delivering to the customer, it would reduce margin and clog the factories. Generally people are happy with the cars, just a few minor issues that I believe service centres and mobile assist exist for. There aren't many issues with major components, more like customer satisfaction jobs. Once they perfect the assembly process things will be much better. I believe Shanghai production is generally the best.
Theres nothing more shonky than the build quality of Tesla. I'd expect better considering the price tag. Im a mobile detailer in the UK. Ive seen a fair few Teslas.. I have a customer with a dead model S traction battery The car is 7 years old, has done 60,000 miles. The battery died in November 2022. Tesla has had it since then... They hope to have a battery and the car back to him in July 2023. Because the guy cannot charge at home he has used the Tesla charge network for all his charging. Tesla say this is battery abuse and not covered by the warranty. The new battery is costing him £32,000. Then he's selling the car... He has had 2x drive motors fail 5 door handles fail (When the door handles fail, you can either not lock the car or cannot get in.) 2x LCD screens that leaked. An issue where the brake lights dont come on unless he used the foot brake. His next car will not be an EV
Completely understand. EVs have come on a long way in 7 years and will keep developing further. It’s the main reason in my review video I ended it with I wouldn’t buy one, I’d lease it so I don’t have to worry about potential battery/motor/screen issues. Hopefully reliability will improve 🤞🏻
You must have some very special kind of mental deficiency to buy an EV, but not have the ability to charge your car at home. He even had 7 years of time to make arrangements so that he would be able to do so, yet he chose to not use his brain and this is the result. It's the same kind of deficiency that makes you take a very small substrata of data, namely one bad experience, and apply it to the EV car market as a whole.
Seems like a cop out by Tesla, being penalised for using their chargers.Thought they would take his circumstances into account and pay something toward the cost.
@@aly-b884 I agree, they should put something towards it, on a car of that age fast D.C. charging was less understood on what it would do to the battery. Nowadays, it’s industry standard that D.C. charging will affect battery health
Yea. Manual back door release is horrible. Kids travel in the back.
@6:51
Yeah I guess Teslas engineers may have thought let’s keep it out of the way so kids can’t reach it
Yes. More detail please. Great video though. Thank you.
I’ll try and do another one with more detail. Are there any parts that you think need including?
I’m picking my MY up on Friday from NEC thanks for tips
Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for letting us know of that boot lid issue 👍
No problem 👍

Any time, hope you enjoy the new car 👍🏻
First time soon to be Tesla owner here, great vid thanks!
Do you have any recommendations for home charger installs ?
For the UK, I would recommend a zappi. From all the videos etc that I’ve watched about chargers they seem to be the best on the market
I need to make a check list or I’ll forget all this

Their build quality puts me off
It’s getting loads better, I’ve had a couple of niggles that were sorted out and since then it’s been all ok
You get the charge cable included with the base price?
In the uk you get both the mobile connector and blue AC charging cable included
Wow! I wonder if that’s a UK law. They used to give the mobile charger in the US but not anymore. All you get is the J1772 adapter and you even have to pay for the black license plate holder 😂
uk deliveries still come with a mobile connector? costs extra $300 in us now...
They do ‘currently’ I imagine it will follow suit and they will be excluded eventually

i wonder if the buried emergency latch in the back seat is to hide it from kids or pesky passengers poking around while you're driving ...
You do make a very good point. I hadn’t thought of that
Not its for passengers you forgot to tell dont pull on it lol they will use it to open the door everytime instead of pushing the button.
Leave it to Americans for building quality cars where you need to check their own work. What a hassle.
It’s never really been their strong suit, but they do make kick ass barbecue 😂
